I was at the park yesterday and for the 1st time in a long time that I have gone to the park this past summer the employees were meeting Cedar Fair standards when it comes to dealing with guests. They were doing all the fun stuff like on drop tower the ride op was telling everyone that we are going to take you up 272 ft and drop you at 72 mph and on volcano the ride ops were telling everyone that we are going to propel you at 70mph through 4 inversions in a total time of 2 mins. Dominator was closed, ugh, and wasn't running at all. The park is getting its self back on its 2 feet once again. Other than that as plans for 2009, el dorado and the ferris wheel are on site in the maintaince area. I think they are going to be building these rides in the grove section by xlc but are going to spread them out.

Grizzly's sign has been MIA for years now,I wish they'd bring it back.

I was there on July 29th, and I noticed the same thing bpmitchell. All the employees were very nice and enthusiastic. All of them were enforcing the "Ride On" slogan as we were exiting all the rides. On shockwave they were saying things like "Are you ready shockwave warriors?" And on Drop zone once we got to the top, the ride op starting counting down 10,9,8,7,6,5 and when he hit 4 he dropped us, just to keep us off guard. It was absolutly hilarious. It made the ride that much more fun. Now if only carowinds crew would take notes from KD crew we would be set.

PS Why the heck was Dominator closed?

Who knows? Dominator went down a couple of times on my trip back on the 26th but at least they got it opened again.

I was there yesterday and I notice the very same thing. The employees were nice and more into their job serving guests than last year. Last year was simply horrible that I promised myself that I will never go there again. Then luckily, we received free tickets so I thought... why not since it's free. So we went and I've completely changed my mind and attitude toward King's Dominion. Cedar Fair definitely improved the park dramatically.

Btw, Dominator was opened all day yesterday (Saturday Aug 2).

But, if you read some of the other reports, you will see people bashing CF for horrible park operations. I think this can happen at any park on any given day. I think it is silly that some people say that CF's operations are better or worse than Six Flags and that CF parks are going down the tubes. My overall experience at SFMM a couple of years ago was awful, but that doesn't mean that I would not go again and have different results during the next visit.

I visited KD a couple of months ago and thought the same thing. The ride op's were very friendly and the overall experience at the park was a pleasant one. Same can be said for my experience at Cedar Point in June. Employees were getting the crowds going on Maverick, Millenium and Gemini. Line jumping was being enforced, as well as the smoking policy. I thought that the operations were great and I thoroughly enjoyed my visits to both parks.

I personally like what CF has done with Kings Dominion since taking over the reigns from Paramount.
