deano
As much as it hurts me every time, I still need to ride Manhatten Express each time i'm in vegas, you just cant beat seeing the Vegas strip at night while upside down.
pacoasterrider
Manhattan express looks horrible from all the POV's. and it's a lot of $$ to ride if im not mistaken? I always fear the old woodies, even tho i know they wont fall apart, just something about them. Phoenix at Knoebels is a prime example (and my favorite woodie!) Vekoma SLC and most Boomerangs suck too.
HerBlackWings
Cyclone of SFNE...BEFORE the drop was neutered. I still have a softspot for it tho'...backseat nightrides in the fall and the acrid stink of the station. mmmmmmm

I wouldnt say it's horrible, just a bit too rough than it should be, not due to the layout (which is above average IMO) but due to the fact that it feels like it has square wheels. I guess it's expensive too, but considering how much it actually costs me to get to Vegas, i'm not gonna complain about $15 ish.
texcoaster
The Ultimate owns this topic. Agreed. I freaking LOVE the Ultimate. I didn't ever ride it with the OTSRs (thank God), but that thing kicked my butt from start to finish.... and the only thing I could think afterward was OMG, AGAIN! HerBlackWings
^^Oh hell, if you're in the U.S., just come to the East coast and get a SF season pass. Think...El Toro, S:ROS, Nitro, Kingda,..and then La Ronde for a bonus...(:::laughs: West Coast has SH*T for coasters. Tatsu...pfft.
texcoaster
Manhattan Express or Son of Beast gets my vote. Both suffer from maximum suckage, to be true, but I hated them both. If I read the topic correctly, these are rides that are death machines, but you like them anyway. If we include death machines that we also hate, my list is too long to type... but Goudurix would be near the top of it.
HerBlackWings
^thanx for refreshing that point. It's not simply about horrendous rides (SOB is a mainstay OF COURSE)...but "death machines" that have our love. And, I LOVE Cyclone, and the remnants of Black Widow that are rotting in a field somewhere...I believe. And Joe Draves is wicked hawt.
thomas2
Vampire, our local SLC. It's good though.
Cyber.Fiber
I usually like a little roughness on wooden coasters, but for bone-rattling pain, I'll vote for Predator at Darien Lake and Mighty Canadian Minebuster at Canada's Wonderland. I couldn't wait to get off after reaching the bottom of the first drop on both of those. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but I have no desire to ever try them again. When riding Minebuster, you have to sit in the first car. Anywhere else is just painful. But I agree with you about Predator. It is brutal. shesaidboom
^thanx for refreshing that point. I actually came in here to bring that up, glad I was beaten to it by you and texcoaster! When riding Minebuster, you have to sit in the first car. Anywhere else is just painful. Minebuster can generally be fairly smooth throughout the majority of the ride on the first two rows of any car. But the helix through the tunnel is a shuffler, it's awwwwwwwwwwwwwful. timetrial3141592
Most SLCs, All boomerangs, Cyclone @ SFNE, The Great Chase @ SFNE. Yes, TGC is a kiddie coaster. My beef is the last turn. Tip: Don't sit on the right. Oh, and it kicks you in the back when it starts. Other Death Machines I like: Yankee Cannonball Cyclone @ Astroland
downunder
The Dragon Wagon at Beech Bend, it just about tipped over going up the lift hill. Also the Pinfari at Beech Bend. The Beast back row in the morning just about ruptured all my internal organs after the second lift hill, I felt like my rib cage was being crushed. the ghost
Ghostrider- I get a bruise every time I ride, but somehow it still ends up being my #1 at Knotts ( Followed closely by Accelerator and Silver Bullet)
Bolliger&Mabillard
Last summer Freefall at SFMM opened 3 hours late because I was was the only certified ride op there and I refused to safety ride it. Head Bangs by the position As you engage lift As you reach top of lift. As you were pushed out to D block The drop was hell on the shoulders. The Runout was pain on shoulders/Back H block (where car turns right side up) was a nightmare. Still...I miss you, my little "suicide box" Freefall Sattilite Tower 1982-2008
