Cedar Point to me is not overrated at all, If it was, then I think it wouldn't have been rate the best park 3 or 4 years in a row... Yes they do tend to try and break records rather than just building an all-around fun ride at times, but thats it. Yes Dueling Dragons are great, but you can't even compare the 2 except that both are inverted. Individually, Dueling Dragons can't touch Raptor Imo.

Cedar Point has something for everyone (as do IOA) but much more. So many coasters to choose from, so many thrill rides to choose from. Then soak city....Castaway Bay, the Challenge Park...too many things to do, so little time.

The people at Cp are very friendly and helpful (in my experience), i've never really had a problem with CP except a Millennium Force accident in 03' but thats it. I like both CP & IOA..I Just think that CP is way better Imo.

CP has thrills? lol. Well, a few.

But they dont have Dueling Dragons. To which I could ride all day. Oh wait, I did last spring. 25+ times in a day. Would I take IOA over CP? Yes. Could that be because I live near CP and Im slightly sick of it? Maybe.

But Dueling Dragons to me is better than all of CP combined.

Plus the food at IOA destroys CP's (minus the CP fries).

Atmopshere ruins CP's.

Theme ahnihilates CP's.

Fun Factor murders CP too.

I just feel so much more relaxed when I walk around IOA than CP. Plus, since you get into both IOA and USF - you have to combine them. which in that case, heck you get Mummy which is by far one of the better rides Ive been on for the sheer fact that Brendan Fraser is part of it and he makes me laugh.

Personally, I don't think that Cedar Point or Islands of Adventure is overratted. Both Parks bring in greater numbers of people than that of a buch of parks I could name (PKIsland, PKDominion, BGWilliamsburgh, SFGreat Adventure, SFAmerica, SFNew England...ect) the list goes on..

Actually from what I understand CP does not have higher attendance then some of thoes parks.

PKI has higher attendance, I'm guessing SFGam and SFGadv are at least close to CP. In fact even Canadas Wonderland had higher attendance last year.

I do like Cedar Point alot, however I would definetly not call it the best in the world. It is severly over rated by the polls, etc.

It might have great rides, but it's one of the most analy run parks around. Their no loose articles buy a locker policy is just plain stupid, amongst other things.

^ It's just a numbers thing. There is just so many people in Cedar Point's area that think the park is the best thing since sliced bread.

Because of this anything CP does tends to be praised as the best thing ever.

While those of us who have actually travelled and seen what else is there see the park for what it is. A good park with great rides, that is nowhere near the hands down best park in the world(like the polls make it seem).

I don't think that you understand what a poll is all about. They report what the masses feel.

It's all opinion based and if more people have an opinion that's different than your's then your opinion comes in 2nd.

What is the best park in the world IYO?

^ I know what a poll is about.

My point isn't disputing wether or not Cedar Point is best in the world. My point is that it's not a landslide victory like the polls would indicate.

I'm not even sure what is the best park in the world. I wouldn't be able to narrow it down to one because there's so many out there.

Cedar Point is probably one of the best ride lineups, close with SFMM,SFGam,SFGAdv.

While some other parks might not have as good a ride lineup, but offer a better park experience, and are more "fun". Indiana Beach, Kennywood, Holiday World, etc.

It's not nearly as white and black as the polls indicate.

However, on my last 2 visits to IOA, I was very turned off with the operations, policies, and restaurant services. I considered the first one a fluke, but after the same stuff after the second, I was disgusted enough that I didn't renew my pass .

Haven't been to IAO in a year and a half, so I'm curious. What, specifically, has gone downhill? Their employees were never as imposingly friendly as WDW CMs, but their ride ops and restaurants were always, in my experience, pretty first-rate.

As anyone who was there for the October and March TPR meet ups and on previous occasions, a good portion of the stuff has changed. From what I can remember:

1. You aren't allowed to have ANY articles to ride Hulk. Not only bookbags and other packages, which always were to be stored in a locker, but also waist packs. Supposedly this is because people "drop" them on the ride and they don't want to retrieve them, but who honestly can lose something securely strapped between your upper and lower torso? Yet they let you ride with sunglasses.

2. To top it all off, the lockers DON'T work right, and broke on more than 1 occasion this last visit.

3. No longer allowed to take shoes off and store them in the storage chamber in the middle of Bilge Rat Barges. The first couple of years they TOLD you "If you don't want your shoes to get wet, take them off now and store them quickly before your boat leaves the station"

4. Filming on Cat in the Hat. Originally you were allowed to. On our October visit the op FILMED us getting onto the ride with our camcorder, then handed the camcorder to us. Then throughout the ride kept telling us to turn the camcorder off because filming was prohibited.

5. Mythos totally changed their menu. They used to have really good stuff that we always enjoyed making. The restaurant would update the menu each season to keep with the changing weather and such, but the head chef was always willing to make something not on the menu if you asked him. We were told they cannot make the balsamic chicken nor the tomato and mozzarella salad anymore because the price of the balsamic vinegar was too pricey. Yet Elissa got a pizza that had the balsamic glaze drizzled on it and the plate, so explain that one. They also decided instead of having lots of different signature desserts they'd cheapen up and have random "shots" of dessert for a fixed price. Then you choose from like a key lime pie shot, a cheesecake shot, a chocolate mouse shot, etc. Stuff I can find in my grocery store freezer section.

6. Getting rid of the Universal express passes for free and then increasing the price of the payed express passes.

7. Guest relations having no clue whats going on. For HHN Elissa went to the front of Universal to ask if there was a holding area inside the Studios for HHN and the lady at guest services told her "no, you need to be inside IOA for that, and you have...5 minutes to get inside the gates there." Elissa asked if she was certain and the lady said "let me check....(comes back) yes, you need to be there, and you now have 3 minutes to get inside the park." When in reality there WAS a holding area inside Universal the entire time, just like we thought. Luckily we asked the guy standing there taking HHN tickets before we attempted to run to IOA.

I'm not trying to bash IOA or anything, I love the park. But it seems the new management there has taken a total 180 degree turn from the Universal of the past 6 years. I'm sure some others can elaborate more on this and the changes they've noticed in the last couple of months.

That point sounds just like CP.

I've been turned away from Millenium Force because I had a small compact camera case hooked to my belt. It's not like it was going anywhere. So I had to pay a couple bucks on a locker.

Or on TTD where they force you to buy camera straps. But the strapes they make you buy are just a thin little string with loops at the end which does nothing to keep your glasses on. In fact by the time the ride was over my strap was across my forehead, and I watched a couple go flying off other peopel's heads.

I think thats one reason why I like Disneyland better than Knotts or SFMM. I just always have more fun at the park even though there really aren't very many hardcore rides there. In fact none of them are really "hardcore" as for as rides go except for ToT, most of them are designed to be family friendly, and for some reason, I just always have more fun at the park even with the lack of "thrills."

Anyways.... I'll find out what parks I like best hopefully this year.

2 weeks from now I'm off to IOA, and I also have a HW, CP, IB, some other parks.... plan in the works for the summer, so who knows.

CEdar Point for sure, IOA is a great park, however, I visited this park very often in 2002 and 2003 and I still renew my annual pass but lately I'm barely going cause it's basically the same park from when it opened in 1999.The only things they've opened are the teacup ride and the kiddie coaster Flying unicorn, When I go to Universal lately I find myself more at the Universal park riding the Mummy and MIB.I've been to Cedar Point 3 times and how could you get tired of going from one great coaster to another one all day long, sure it's not themed like IOA, bu CP is in a very unique location surrounded by water on three sides. If I were from Cleveland and went very often to CP and I just recently went to IOA for the 1st time, this post might be completely opposite raving at how awsome IOA is.
