DBru Posted February 20, 2008 Author Posted February 20, 2008 ^I believe both Hades and Voyage are getting some work... I think they could both greatly benefit from the NEW PTC trains (even though we haven't seen them).
socalMAN123 Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 I swear Ghostrider must have gotten some track work done, because when I rode it on Sunday it was particularly smooth! Sure, there were some rough parts, but other than that it was pretty awesome! Even later, when we sat in a wheel seat, it still wasn't horrible. I was quite impressed. ---Brent
All Clear Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 I was there Sunday, too, for the first time. I didn't have very high expectations for GhostRider, based on stuff I'd heard. It was awesome in both front and back.
-LILDAREDEVIL5- Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Boulder Dash at Lake Compounce is getting the old trains from wild cat at Hershey park, and getting the track worked on. Ouch. That's not good. Those hurt.Hope it doen't affect the ride.
Jim S. Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Well didn't it have standard PTC trains before? (I have no idea, I've never been there.) Assuming that the track is being maintained, the shaking problem with PTC trains is pretty much limited to twister coasters, in my opinion. (Other people say there's no such thing as a smooth wood coaster other than an Intamin. I say they just don't appreciate good coasters.)
Golfie Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 American Eagle at SFGAm is getting retracked in some places. Because it has a 99% chance of not making the ride any better, I say let me do the retracking - all I need is a box of matches!
Coasterlvr_nc Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 It was mentioned that Thunder road backwards was being worked on, a month before that they worked on forwards. And hurler has a few spots of new track here and there.

I think they could both greatly benefit from the NEW PTC trains (even though we haven't seen them). So you think they could both benefit from trains that are nothing more then an idea at this point? We have no idea how those trains will run, so I'd hardly say that new trains are the answer. I'm sure Hades and Voyage have suffered because of the aggressive nature of the rides, not the trains.
thrillrideseeker Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 Well I dont know if it counts because there is no off season at the park, but Gwazi is being retracked. During the week they run one side while they work on retracking the other side, then they run both sides on the weekends!! The ride really is not much smoother in the areas that have been retracked what a waste of money... they should have saved the money and built a rocket ~Matthew
Guest Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 I've read that J2/Puma is getting some trackwork on it's second hill (which was my favorite part..... :-/) as well as a trim so it'll be more family friendly. I'm not sure where I read it, so I don't really have anything that back that up though. I'm happy Legend and Hades are getting work. I thought Hades really needed it when I rode it back in August, there was quite a bit of jack hammering going on. Legend I didn't mind at all, but I don't think being smoother will hurt.

Smoothness can be a side-effect of retracking, but that's not the main purpose. (I'm just guessing)
All Clear Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 ...Legend I didn't mind at all, but I don't think being smoother will hurt. They're such overachievers.
THE ONE Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Didn't Mt. Olympus say they were going to retrack a portion of Hades? Yeah It's the section after the station fly by at the bottom of the turn that part had some jack hammering their.

Yeah It's the section after the station fly by at the bottom of the turn that part had some jack hammering their. "some" jack hammering? It felt like the train was going to tear itself apart. Good to know that they're retracking that part. I thought Hades was running fairly well with the exception of that turn.
