verticalzero Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 I recieved an update about the "Comet" and the state of the park. www.freewebs.com/lpcomet/lincolnparknowphotos.htm
pete4winds Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 I live about 8 or 9 miles from the park, and I go by every so often to reminisce. It never gets any easier to see it this way.
coastercrazed49 Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 This makes me so mad except for Six Flags all the amusement parks in Massachusetts with decent size roller coasters have been abandoned or destroyed. Then last year they tore down the Flyer Comet at Whalom Park everything thing in this state is now gone.
JimmyBo Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 I opened this up and I thought it was about the band Linkin Park...my bad. Anyway, I think it does suck that companies just leave coasters to rot to hungry termites. And not everything in your state is gone...the Non-Super Bowl Champ Patriots are still there.
Moose Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 ^^ Rocky Point (in RI) lasted a bit longer, but it too is gone today. It's coasters and rides were salvaged (they were steel), but its buildings and funhouse were left for vandals and arsonists to demolish.
bobpuppet Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 Lincoln Park was my favorite park as kid and the Comet was my very first credit. This is very sad indeed
Vekoma Fan Boy Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Pic's what? He means pics Vekoma "I HATE it when people use apostrophes for plurals, THAT IS NOT FREAKING POSSESSIVE!!" Fan Boy
Jew Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 I have to ask: were these pictures obtained legally? While they are cool, if you trespassed to get them, we cannot allow them on TPR.

So how bout' them Arizona Cardinals??
ECZenith Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 I used to work in New Bedford, MA back when I lived in RI and I drove by the ruins of Lincoln Park every day, very sad to see every time.

I don't think verticalzero took these pictures, but regardless, yes as far as I know it is ILLEGAL to set foot on what was previously Lincoln Park, for both safety reasons, and because it is privately owned land. Though taking pictures from outside the park's perimeter, is fine.
eskater132 Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Pic's what? He means pics Vekoma "I HATE it when people use apostrophes for plurals, THAT IS NOT FREAKING POSSESSIVE!!" Fan Boy I know, I was being sarcastic...lol. I hate it too.

Fan Boy I know, I was being sarcastic...lol. I hate it too. OMG!! I hate it when people use text messaging language! Just kidding! I don't care about it, but others do. It is sad to see this park die slowly, and to see the roller coaster fall apart, even more! -Tatum
Mechanic Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 They could reopen it as-is and rename it "Blair Witch Park".
