jackskellington101 Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Right at the beginning of the New Year, my lovely companion, my Sally if you will, Ashley and I decided to head down to our lovely workplace, Disney World, for a little work, a little play, a bunch of togetherness and a whole lot of fun. We ran into everyone we know, more so than we ever imagined; spent a couple days with Robb, Elissa, KidTums and the gang; got stuck in the 1920s; went to MGM on the last day of MGM and Hollywood on their first; learned that KidTums either really likes or really dislikes 3D glasses of the Muppet variety; became witness to the ordering of plain pasta; learned of the current project of Mr. Robb Alvey and why he should be pitied; took a POV of the TTA, but it's 369 MB so I'll see if I can compress it any, and, well, we have a ton of pictures, so might as well start a posting. Stuart Construction!!! Very loud construction too. Now Night of Joy will have stages for all those throngs of Christian teens and their Christian rock and pop. At least it's not going to be at Magic Kingdom anymore. Wow, it's really without an identity. Like Raul Julia in Overdrawn at the Memory Bank...what, it's a movie reference. Wait, there's no sign at all! What park is this! There's nothing to tell us. It's having an identity crisis. Not even the park knows what it is anymore! Well, at least this change is final, we'll have to see what it's like at the park. Glad were not going to Magic Kingdom this time...eeeesh. Ahh, waiting in line at Pop Century, the resort of choice of broke college students. (Taken by Ashley) Well, this was different. It wasn't like that when we went to the park before...the change is beginning to commence. Like a werewolf! Must see MGM next, before it's too late! (Taken by Ashley) While the boys took pictures of the castle like the nerds we are, Ashley decided to take a picture of me. (Taken by Ashley) A small child who actually smiles in my presence and doesn't run away screaming?!? Excellent! BTW: KidTums is the most adorable child in the world. End of story. (Taken by Ashley) Well, look who we found! Or more, they found us. Everyone gearing up for the CoP, unknowing of the horrors that will soon commence. I'll never look at a Niagara Falls fan or a blown fuse the same way again. (Taken by Ashley) Even though it's January, it's still Christmas here. At least, until the end of the week. (Taken by Ashley) Me in repose on the Liberty Belle. Probably thinking about...I don't know...cheese. Yeah, cheese. (Taken by Ashley) The house in which I buttle...over and over and over. (Taken by Ashley) Ahh, our lovely castle in which you don't have to squint to see it. And bird poop free! (Taken by Ashley) Before anything, we headed down to Downtown on the first night and found this lovely painting at Art of Disney. Want...massive want.
jackskellington101 Posted January 15, 2008 Author Posted January 15, 2008 Some more photos from the park without an identity and further! It's almost hypnotic...yes...*snap* huh, what. Oh, onward! Preeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetty. The chicken strips are now nuggetized! Not cool. Back once more to the kingdom because, well, it's the kingdom. And I had to once again rejoin with my lovely companion after work. But the Christmas Castle looks so pretty across the Seven Seas...Lagoon. Unlimited Frozen Coke. Can life be better than that? I contest that it cannot. Here is why Pop Century is awesome. The beverage islands. Now, you're saying "Why are the beverage islands so cool?" Well, if you get one of the refillable over and over again, you can get something unlimited...something magnificent... Which is right, you decide... The flag retreat. It's patriotism set at 11, but it's still an underrated thing in the Magic Kingdom. Howdy do BeemerBoy My new animatronic hero. Big Thunder from that other train. You know, that other one. The big one. That goes woo. Yeah, that one. Best custodial in the world, in my own humble opinion. And yes, I am required to say that, but I do believe it as well. Freshly caught for maximum size. Unlike those small preserved castles over at Disneyland. Back to the Magic Kingdom because my lovely companion had to go to work. Boo to that, but yay for castle! Until this point, I had no idea why the frozen coke place at MGM (at time of picture) was called Peevy's. I'm ashamed, and relieved, of my lack of super extreme Disney nerdiness.
jackskellington101 Posted January 15, 2008 Author Posted January 15, 2008 I told you this was a huge Photo TR...because there's more! YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG! Wait...this isn't a prop! It's a promo concept piece for a photo op at Hong Kong Disneyland that they moved from Epcot! FOUL! Oooh, not even construction. Pre-construction! What a lovely image. Rainbows in one corner and fiery explosions in the other. I think this will become the new overlay of Poseidon's Fury. Fire vs. Rainbows. Sploosh! Explosions like this one here. Micheal Bay. He's speaking to us, but I just know all he's thinking about right now are explosions. and signs on props from really horrible movies made by a director where it's amazing he still has a job. This is much better than that nameless park earlier! Signs on security booths... See, this park even has signs! It's amazing! What is this? What is this Disney's Hollywood Studios? It's...something new! Bop! It's day again. See, the octopus is sleeping. Wes, attack! I took this picture for reasons I will not explain in this caption. *shakes head mournfully* Artsy Fartsy Tomorrowland. Or maybe just fartsy. I don't know. Something is wrong with this sign...no, it's not that it's actually advertising MILF...that is wrong but it's supposed to do that...what could it be....oh yeah, two of the lights have been ripped off! That'll do it!
jackskellington101 Posted January 15, 2008 Author Posted January 15, 2008 Good lord there's more! The Tri-Circle D. Oh wait, this isn't California...nevermind. Though lift A did try to readjust my back through forceful whiplash while going up the lift. How very kind of it. I got the death seat! OH NO! Why the Fastpass lane for Big Thunder is so awesome. Not for sale?!? I wonder what the going market price for re-adds are. Can't come this way, you must face your doom at the hands of 5 year olds. He's thinking about it. Oh, by the way, I'm sorry Jahan and all other males, the female Jedi's at Florida's academy are no where near as hot as California's. The Hollywood Studios version of Jedi Training Academy, otherwise known as how many 5 year olds could Darth Vader take in a fight. And the sign here didn't seem to come down very nice. Good thing you got the shot of it when you did Robb! Whoops...well, maybe not all the signs have been changed just yet. Wow, I magically appeared to the future of DCA! This photo is required for all visits to Disney's Hollywood Studios. It's on your ticket. Start off with construction! Woo! Lets make the park harder to navigate!
jackskellington101 Posted January 15, 2008 Author Posted January 15, 2008 !erom That's more spelled backwards. Segway tour. How come every time I see this, I hear the theme to PeeWee's breakfast machine? Gee...I wonder... I actually have this button! Glad to see these survived! We miss you Dreamfinder...come back...please. Ashley's glad she didn't have to wear this. (Taken by Ashley) I'm glad I didn't have to wear this. Hey! The Epcot 25 thing was still open! Cool! If all food was packaged like this, would Elissa eat it? The Mezzo Mix is mine. No, not that Beverly over there. I know better. The Ginger Ale is Ashley's favorite. We head to Club Cool! But they seem to have been very popular. Off to Epcot! Now neither of us have to work! Yay! So were do we go first. No, not here to the newly soft reopened Spaceship Earth, now with 50% more suck! A very strange eagle kite on top of Pecos Bill's. I think it's a seagull thing, but I'm not sure. I see you! Splashless Mountain.
jackskellington101 Posted January 15, 2008 Author Posted January 15, 2008 Just when you thought it was over, there's still more! It's like the end to Return of the King! The wall of yum. My dear, I don't think a paper umbrella will help you in the rain. You do look lovely with it though. The only true anime fan. Ashley's trying out her new superhero mask in Japan. Soren-less Germany is no fun. Uh oh, the trolls got us. Disappear Disappear! We love Maelstrom! Norway's having fun. She didn't want to tourist pose, but that doesn't stop me from taking the picture. So ha. Pictures of ourselves, because the lagoon's a bit boring without the Illuminations stuff. (Taken by Ashley) Hurray for Jon Scieszka! Adorableness overload... A Stuart fist shake at the current state of Journey into Imagination. Maybe that'll get you to straighten up! (Taken by Ashley) Journey into Imagination. That's all I really have to say. Old Logo and New Logo. But which is old and which is new....hmmm...
jackskellington101 Posted January 15, 2008 Author Posted January 15, 2008 Now, for something completely different, everything the same! And a line at Spaceship Earth again. It's nice to see the old logo again. An Ashley fist shake at the changes of Spaceship Earth. Yes, we know you changed. Now please, change back. But they looked just fine on her, especially when she got all Mansiony faced and stuff. I decided, while waiting for Maelstrom again, to try on Ashley's ears. They didn't look so good on me. (Taken by Ashley) Fat head in little hat. (Taken by Ashley) But don't you take pictures like this with your boss? (Taken by Ashley) Ashley got a photo with boss. But he made up for it later. The biggest smile you can hit me with, mainly because Pluto surprised me by pouncing! (Taken by Ashley) But then Pluto scared off the rodents. They wanted to jump into the jungles we were rotating by though, they found some giant jungle acorns. Chip only wanted to be with Ashley though. I don't blame him really. See, lovely rodents! We had our lunch pretty late at the Garden Grill. It is character, but only the good ones. Like this rodent here. (Taken by Ashley)
jackskellington101 Posted January 15, 2008 Author Posted January 15, 2008 Getting there....oh who am I kidding. An Ashley fist shake at the change in menu at Sci-Fi removing everything she liked. Wow, that paint came up fast. Want. The next morning, Ashley decided to get the morning started right...with some unlimited Frozen Coke. Take a good look at Alice here...she looks so stoned. Ashley with her true love...the Haunted Mansion. The Elissa Alvey memorial fist shake at Stitch's Great Escape, as performed by Ashley. The place in Tomorrowland we lovingly call the Nexus of Suck. The Elissa Alvey memorial fist shake at Winnie the Pooh, as performed by me. (Taken by Ashley) Wee!!! (Taken by Ashley) Who needs a flash? So, she decided to take pictures of me, since I of her. (Taken by Ashley) I love taking pictures of people on the teacups. In this one Ashley kind of looks like Alice. If Alice had red hair...and a purple shirt...and Mansion ears...ok, maybe she looks nothing like Alice. And the castle is exploding. Back to the Magic Kingdom, where everything's gone back to normal!
jackskellington101 Posted January 15, 2008 Author Posted January 15, 2008 Just got Animal Kingdom and more food to go! Ashley's plate #2. The ginger squash soup and a plate of hummus and breads. Plate...er...bowl #2: Soup. Sausage and lentel soup. Ashley doing her best Robb impression with her plate #1. Needless to say, we were hungry. Off to our final dinner at one of our favorite places, Boma. Plate #1 for me: Salads. Going clockwise: Pasta salad, potato salad, watermelon and tomato salad (with bleu cheese), and the Boma classic watermelon rind salad. An affective sign change. Eep! That's a lot of people. Get a room you too! Geez. When Lou is away, Yeti Ball goes to play. Another required shot. The lovely Dim Sum Basket. That's all we got. The price tag stopped us from anything else really. Ahh! A Yeti! (Taken by Ashley) With very pretty company. Very pretty inside. But we went to the Yak and Yeti instead. Frozen Coke AND Frozen Vault! Here, at Drinkwalla, you can find magnificent wonders.
jackskellington101 Posted January 15, 2008 Author Posted January 15, 2008 Almost all of these photos will contain food. Do not view on an empty stomach, as I am now...wait...darn it. Last day, just before I left, I found this funny thing on my orange juice. Best till 3008?!? Wow, preservatives have really gotten affective! This is also, can it be, the last picture! You made it! Congratulations! It's been a pleasure having you for this time. Now, go do something important! Full, happy, and content Ashley. Ashley's Plate #6. The upside down pineapple cheesecake, zebra dome, fruit tarts, candied fruit, and the coconut mousse. Plate #6, and the most important plate, dessert. Clockwise. Bannana Bread pudding with vanilla sauce, the Boma famous Zebra Domes (contains alcohol), the chocolate mousse surprise (contains alcohol), and the flowerless chocolate cake. It was a good plate. Which I went all Robb on. (Taken by Ashley) So we had a shared plate #5 Kid stuffs! Chicken fingers, fries, the Disney mac and cheese, the Elissa Alvey memorial plain pasta and one meatball. I think she was happy. The surprise plate. Ya see, it was Ashley's birthday...almost. We'd be apart during her real birthday, so it was close enough. She didn't know I did this till she came back from the plate she was currently creating. (Taken by Ashley) Ashley's plate #4, fruit and the sausage and lentil soup. Plate #4. Fruit plate. Ashley's Plate #3, Prime rib, Bobotie, Potatoes with Afritude and the mashed one I don't remember. Plate #3, the main plate. Clockwise: Saffron Rice, Bobotie, Meely Bread, Nut Crusted Salmon, Prime Rib and the Potatoes with Afritude.
crazyrider06 Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 awesome trip report, looks like you had a few good days down there at Disney
Chrissie Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Awesome TR!! - It made me both hungry and Disney-sick!! I've applied to go do another ICP for the Summer, and now I realise how upset I will be if I don't get in. Looks like you guys had fun, and I love the mansion ears, sooooo getting a pair of those when/if I get there. Boma also looks amazing. Im excited now! I also have a message for Ashley from my friend Colin - He'll be back in WDW doing the cultural rep, in March, so you guys have to go visit him!
jackskellington101 Posted January 16, 2008 Author Posted January 16, 2008 Awesome TR!! - It made me both hungry and Disney-sick!! I've applied to go do another ICP for the Summer, and now I realise how upset I will be if I don't get in. Thanks and good luck! I'm sure it'll be fine. Looks like you guys had fun, and I love the mansion ears, sooooo getting a pair of those when/if I get there. Boma also looks amazing. Im excited now! Well, you're not going to get the Mansion ears in FL. Ashley's Mansion ears are a gift I gave to her earlier last year. They're actually from Tokyo. Unfortunately, I didn't get them in person, I found them online. I also have a message for Ashley from my friend Colin - He'll be back in WDW doing the cultural rep, in March, so you guys have to go visit him! Excellent. Ashley, you see the message? I'm sure she'll read it here eventually.
Pufferfish Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Great TR, it makes me miss WDW so bad. I'm definitely going to try to get into their college program as soon as possible. It just looks like so much fun.
FitchCoaster Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 The castle when lit up at night... It's kind of disappointing that the backside isn't lit up also, oh well. I loved the trip report, I'd like to someday visit the Magic Kingdom. It looks like there's so much to do!
BeemerBoy Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Very nice work. I formally approve this WDW trip report.
TheRapidsNerd Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 At first, I thought this was just clever titling. But I was wrong...so VERY wrong. This was just epic. Period. Wow. Somewhere I have a podcast of Haunted Mansion or Tower of Terror(pretty sure it's WDW) and I think you're in it. Will have to check. On a side note, the best adlib I've heard of the "Drag your bodies to the dead center of the room" line came from a female cast member in another podcast or vid. She says "Kindly drag your bodies to the dead center of the room, away from the walls. I just cleaned them." Her snapped and slightly irrated delivery made it. Back on topic, terrific TR!
jackskellington101 Posted January 17, 2008 Author Posted January 17, 2008 Great TR, it makes me miss WDW so bad. I'm definitely going to try to get into their college program as soon as possible. It just looks like so much fun. The program is fun. It's hard work, but it's fun. The castle when lit up at night... It's kind of disappointing that the backside isn't lit up also, oh well. There's always next year. I think they tapped out all the Lowe's and Home Depots in the area... Very nice work. I formally approve this WDW trip report. I had a feeling you would. At first, I thought this was just clever titling. But I was wrong...so VERY wrong. This was just epic. Period. Wow. Nah, you'll quickly find nothing about me is all that clever Somewhere I have a podcast of Haunted Mansion or Tower of Terror(pretty sure it's WDW) and I think you're in it. Will have to check. Fantastic! If you find it, let me know where. I shouldn't appear in the Tower one, unless I have an evil twin running around. I do know I appeared in Eric's 2006 Not-So-Scary video (in which hearing Soren call out my name while I was at load, looking over and having the TPR crew go full on paparazzi towards me is still one of the most vivid, and cherished, memories of my program) and I appeared in a Not-So-Scary video that made it to Mice Chat. I will admit it is a bit weird looking up videos or pictures of Mansion and all of a sudden seeing or hearing me, but I get a kick out of it anyway. Heh, I think I know who that might be. Though that line does pass around the Mansion. I used a variation of that line of "I like to keep them [the walls] clean". Now, the maids and butlers have just enough time to get the "Drag your bodies to the dead center of the room" without much else, which is fine. I added stuff after the line, but reason I did was to cover up the closing door and silence between the "No turning back now" line and the beginning of Stretch. Now, there's no need for that because the time differential is much shorter and filled with other, more interesting, sounds. I almost feel bad speaking in Stretch now because the sounds are so cool. Back on topic, terrific TR! Thanks! Thanks to all y'all!
DenDen Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 OK, I'm sooooo hungry now, wonder if the buffet is still open... (sigh) Great report. Someone is in luuuuuuuuuvvvvvvvv.
Gorwingel Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Great Trip Report... but I think I'm required to say that *wink* Though I truly, truly mean it. Kinda can't believe that you actually put a picture of me in my custodial costume though. Now everyone knows my top secret disguise! It was such a fun week. And just to add that at this moment, at this college, with it's not so wonderful food, I'm really, really, really missing Boma : (
YoshiFan Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 "Not for sale?!? I wonder what the going market price for re-adds are." I remember seeing an auction posted a while ago, 8 of them went for around $240 total.
cobra_roll06 Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Great TR! I was hoping it wasn't going to end! I'm not the first to say it but i'm Disney sick now.
jackskellington101 Posted March 29, 2008 Author Posted March 29, 2008 I know I'm digging this thread up from the graveyard, but I finally got around to posting my TTA POV onto YouTube. Thanks to YouTube increasing the file size I can upload. Woo. So enjoy the MK TTA POV!
