RIP Psyclone Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 I know there used to be ice skating under Moonsault Scramble at Fuji-Q, but even though it has been replaced with Dodonpa ドドンパ the tradition continues!
RIP Psyclone Posted January 4, 2008 Author Posted January 4, 2008 And the old rink... under Moonsault Scramble! (Thanks to Shane for the pic)
Shockwave Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Knowing that place there's probably a 3 hour line just to get on the ice. And it looked WAY cooler when Moonsualt Scramble was still there.
TheRapidsNerd Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 That's a cool looking rink, and to have a coaster over it (old or new) is awesome. Awww, I miss ice skating. Stupid knee... Regardless, I like it.
RIP Psyclone Posted January 5, 2008 Author Posted January 5, 2008 ^Neither. Moonsault Scramble was a Meisho (some say Vekoma had a hand in it too) and Dodonpa is from S&S (which bought Arrow, but after they did Dodonpa). ドドンパ is Dodonpa written in Japanese katakana. ド(do) ド(do) ン(n) パ(pa) If you can't see the characters, fix it!
kraken613 Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 Well no matter what it was its a cool looking inversion!
UniversalGSHo22 Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 That is amazing! I used to work at an and Ice Skating Rink here in Orlando and from an Opperation standpoint I can only IMAGINE what a pain the in A$$ that ice is to upkeep. I would love to see the Zamboni process and their rental services. The ice is SO big that it must be a sight to see!!! Thanks for the Pictures Everyone!!!
astroworldfan1 Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 What a shame the Moonsalt Scramble was taken down. It looked fun! I went Ice Skating today! It was fun.
BarryH Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 Knowing that place there's probably a 3 hour line just to get on the ice. Also, the line will move 1/2 inch per hour, you have to put your stuff in a locker before you board, the ice will break down several times during your wait, etc.
FitchCoaster Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 That looks awesome! Things like this make me really want to live in Japan. I'd love to go ice skating with a roller coaster right nearby! I'd probably crash into something though because I'd be too distracted watching the roller coaster, though.
thomas2 Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 This has nothing to do with the ice rink, but I can't imagine riding a 107 mph coaster in freezing weather. That must hurt
Shockwave Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 ^There's another place that you might be waiting in line a while for ice skating!
