kraxleRIDAH Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 Magic Mountain's General Manager Del Holland retired earlier this month and taking his place is former Kentucky Kingdom General Manager Jay Thomas -- often credited for Kentucky Kingdom's rapid turn-around in the past two years. This can only be a good thing. Magic Mountain has gone to ruin for the duration of Holland's term...whether or not the park's downhill slide had very much to do with him, at least we'll see some sort of changes with a new GM. Any thoughts?
IwantRevenge Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 soundsl ike a good thing to me. I mean if this guy turned kentucky kingdom around so well whos to say he won't do it with SFMM.
saxman47 Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 This sounds like a good thing for SFMM I know at SFGadv the new GM Mark Kane did wonders for the park this year. He really did make a huge difference, so hopefully MM is in for some improvement as well.
XanderLee Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 If anyone can fix SFMM, Jay Thomas can fix SFMM!
3rdShiftCM Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 I'm so glad to hear Jay was able to get more work after everything that has happened. Good Luck Jay Thomas!! It's been to long!!
coasterdude5 Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 New ideas, strategies, etc., this'll probably be great for the park in the long run of things.
CoasterPete Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 I have never been to Magic Mountain but from everything I hear, its about time! I know the fault cannot necessarily be blamed on the old GM for some of the parks downfalls, but there needs to be a change of thinking as to how to run the park with what you're given. Like coasterdude5 said, new ideas and strategies will go a long way to help the park. Pete
Mr.Six Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 He stopped by Revolution tonight, shook my hand and introduced himself. Seems like a really nice guy, so I look forward to working with him. _six
PURE Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 Good riddance, I say. I know the fault cannot necessarily be blamed on the old GM for some of the parks downfalls Oh it can be, and it should. In my opinion Holland didn't have much a clue about anything when it came to running an amusement park, plain and simple. My guess is he was around as long as he was because of the money he saved SF on an annual basis-and it shows by the horrible shape the parks been in during the past decade. Heres to changes, and hope for Magic Mountains renewal.
coasterjunkie91350 Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 DEL OUT ? all i can say is its about time from the last couple times i spoke to him he was ready to hang his sf boots up and focus on being a grandfather
CoasterFanatic Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 From the changes that I have seen personally at SFKK over the last couple of years, I think this is a great fit. A few months ago, I even remembered speaking to someone about this and saying something to the effect of "Whoever is running this park (SFKK) needs to be moved somewhere bigger after this season". The biggest thing that I noticed at SFKK this year was the general attitude of it's employees. Present company excluded, I think that is somewhere that SFMM is really lacking. Best of luck Jay. It won't be an easy task.
