Team Thriller Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 I have a new Windows Vista Machine. But yet RCT3 doesn't work. We think that we need to download a windows vista package, but we don't know. Who ever knows, please tell us how to make it work! Thanks
WillMontu Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 What symptoms are you having? Is it crashing, giving an error message, or simply not running at all? Which build of Vista are you running (x86 or x64 CPU?). If you tell us that information, we might be able to help you out a bit more
Homer Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 Have you tried right clicking and selecting "Run as Administrator?" That's the problem most of the time with RCT3 and Vista.
verticalzero Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 Go back to XP, Vista does not support many games.
Team Thriller Posted September 3, 2007 Author Posted September 3, 2007 It says that there is an error. But not like the ones I usually have. We are using Vista Home Premium. I'll try it again. Thanks everyone If you know more, please let me know!
kraken613 Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 Nope that's just Vista sucking. Thats most likely your problem. I duel boot XP and Vista. Play most games on xp. I play Halo 2 and Flight Simulator on Vista. Vista will suck until service pack 1 comes out in the begining of 08.
Edward Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 It says that there is an error. But not like the ones I usually have. We are using Vista Home Premium. I'll try it again. Thanks everyone If you know more, please let me know! Ok, I can tell you that any HOME edition SUCKS VERY MUCH! The other thing would be that if this is Vista on a Vista Machine (meaning a computer that was explicitly made for Vista) then any games that were made before Vista are usually uncertified and will either not run, or will run at its lowest. I suggest you toss that thing out the window and get something "reliable". I'm running 2K and won't go any higher. And as soon as I can port all these games to Linux, my Windows system will be used very rarely. /Edward
raptorcrew2002 Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 Hmm, have you tried to boot to dos, format c:? Should take care of the vista problems, next problem is finding someone to buy your computer so you can go to apple.com and buy an intel mac and dual boot xp with osx. Problem fixed. Cheers!
Carnage Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 I play Halo 2 on Vista. Although you don't really have to. Halo2 will run on XP, the game just has to be cracked. Halo2 was not coded to run on Vista. They just included a check that looks for Vista, and doesn't let the game run if you don't have Vista. Remove that check and the game runs fine. (from what I hear, I don't play H2 on the PC)
kraken613 Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 I duel boot Vista and XP. I play halo on PC to. I got a wireless reciever for my computer so I could use a 360 controller.
Alpenguy Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 The only games I've had issues with on Vista have been because of stupid copy protection crap on the discs. GTA San Andreas refuses to even show up as a valid DVD consistently.
CommanderLock Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 *Clicks on RCT3* Did you start this function? Cancel or Allow *allow* Windows needs your authorization to continue... *YES* *start video* RCT3 is not a Games for Windows title. Why don't you go buy Halo 2 Vista or Flight Simulator X instead? *NO* Windows will not allow you to play pre-Vista titles. *Start anyway* ERROR! VISTA NEEDS FURTHER AUTHORIZ- *shutdown* See? Exactly.
Alpenguy Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 All you need to do is turn off user access control and run RCT3 as an administrator, at least I haven't had any troubles with it that way. The Bioshock demo is getting pretty annoying though, and is totally failing to work properly. Good thing I didn't buy the full game yet, until it's patched to not require reinstalling every single driver and bit of support I'll hold onto my $50. Shame since it seems like an awesome game.
timetrial3141592 Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 Burn Vista, buy XP. When a Vista-EXCLUSIVE game that I want comes out, then I'll buy Vista. Else... NO.
thrillrideseeker Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 I had the same problem when I first got windows vista. I just had to re-install it like 7 times, and then when you open a sandbox mode go in and change alot of the settings to make it work normally! It will take sometime to get it all working right, but you will only have to do it once! I hope that helped a little! ~Matthew
yofoo23 Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 Lesson learned, early adopters always get burned.
