Wishmaster
Yesterday I visited Walibi Belgium. I used to love this park, but after yesterday's visit I'm not planning to get back there any time soon. It started at the entrance. I have a Fort Fun annual pass, that allows me to enter every CdA park for free once. But when I arrived at WB they didn't accept it. After talking to Philippe Thiry, the Guest Relations Supervisor, he said I had to pay full price. He said would call the CdA main office in Paris sometime next week and if they say I was supposed to get in for free, they'll repay me. I doubt I'll ever see my money again. Then the new coaster, Vertigo. They have been working on it for over a year, but now they finally opened it. I was expecting something like Soarin' at Epcot, but sadly, it turned out to be one of the most boring things I ever rode. (And still I rode it 4 times) Ah, that's better! That's it for this PTR. That's one park that won't see me return any time soon. Barbe A Papa? SANGO! (You'll get that one after the Mini-Europe tip) Ducks rule! On the left it has really good leg choppers. I missed the support by a few inches. It does have awesome brakes though. Vertigo again. We all love No Rules Bumper cars! Vampire however becomes more Vekoma every day. I also rode the awesome Vekoma woodie. Did I just say Vekoma and awesome in the same sentence? The train comes out to say "Hi Joe"! And than the best ride of the park opened. Nazeer warns people of the curse Six Flags has put on the park. This is how the Egypians write crap. These hieroglyphs say: Warning! Inside lots of crap! Lambik (Ambrose/Orville) really doesn't want to know where Jerom's (Jethro/Wilbur) hand is. Suske and Wiske (or Spike and Suzy in the UK and Willy and Wanda in the US) The awful ride again. The splash from the rapid river. The view from the rapid river. This lift is even more awesome than the one from Vertigo. Empty train entering the station. More lift The station on the other hand... The lift does look awesome. Vertigo has such huge supports. It's already testing. We're all waiting to enter the park. My Fort Fun annual pass and the coupon for one free entry. verticalzero
Since the Walibi Chain were bought out your "Fort Fun annual pass" may not be valid anymore. What do you mean by a "CdA park"..? or is this the company who own Walibi.. I visited this park last year and I found it excellent, Vertigo was being tested and all the rides were working to the max. "Turbine" is my fav, love the start (Flywheels win over lim's) and the only one left in Europe. The worst part of the day was in the Water World, you have to wear speedo's only (Could Belgium have a fetish of seeing lots of bulges) and the chorine levels in the water were so high it felt like my skin was Burning. I would go back in a few years to see if the Park has improved
Wishmaster
CdA = Compagnie des Alpes, the group that already owned Fort Fun for a few years and only bought the Walibi parks last year. I also posted this on themepark.nl and a few people had similar experiances with annual passes from older CdA parks at one of the new CdA parks. Walibi just has to get used to the fackt that they're part of a big European group and not all of their parks have the same name.
Swoosh
Um, what the heck is Vertigo? Is it like a skyrde on steroids or something?
Wishmaster
^ It's supposed to be a new kind of rollercoaster, but it's (IMO) very lame.
Swoosh
It reminds me of that Spellbinder Coaster at Legoland only A LOT TALLER.
krouvi
I don't know why but I feel that Vertigo is just wrong. Maybe it because it took them ages to test and test and fix all the problems, but I keep thinking about the chances of two cars colid. I don't belive in this coaster. But this is just me and maybe some of my anxiety disorder raising her head.
kennywood!007
Awesome Photo TR! What were they thinking with that station!?!?
Goliath513
Is Vertigo built on the former site of Tornado? -Sam
coasterdude5
Cool TR, and the park looks great, but IMO Vertigo kills it. It doesn't look right, it looks like a powerline or something, (is that what they were going for?)
EmBy
Nice TR mate, cool photos. Sorry to hear about the problems with paying in and the pass, also you did'nt think much of Vertigo I did'nt even go on it, was'nt worth the queue. I think they could have spent the money of another attraction, but judging by the crowds it is very popular for Walibi. I was there last week too, seems you avoided the dreadful Belgian weather, when I was there it was hit or miss with the rain, and everytime it did'nt the rides stopped operating. But it was worth it just to ride Loup-Garou in the wet, it was unreal the craziest woodie I've ever been on, the looks of peoples faces when they return to the station said it all. -EmBy-
coastermaniac1
Great PTR. I thought Walibi Belgium used to look like a nice park but OMG Vertigo is SOOO ugly. Everything about it is ugly. Those horrible coloured footers. The horrible supports. The station and the sign. I wish they got something else than that unreliable crap. Hi, I'm considering purchasing a FF season pass for this year. I see on their website it still announces that you can visit 21 other parks for free with that pass. There is no listing however but it must be all other CdA parks. Question : did you ever got your money back from your visit to WB ? Did you experience the same problems in other CdA parks you've visited last year ?
VivaLaVibora
The only reason I looked at this trip report was to see what Six Flags sold. Considering you are saying that the Shrawkoptf Shuttle Loop is the best ride, that must be one pretty bad park.

Considering you are saying that the Shrawkoptf Shuttle Loop is the best ride, that must be one pretty bad park. It's not a bad park. Just because there aren't any big coasters doesn't mean it's a bad park. Plus I think Vampire and Weerwolf are the best coasters . Turbine is fun but it's too short.
