We are looking to go to Liseberg and TusenFryd in early september for 3 days.

Our plan is :

Day 1: fly UK to Gothenburg city - go to Liseberg and stop in the hotel near by.

Day 2: Travel to TusenFryd for the day, return to liseberg hotel for the night

Day 3: spend day at Liseberg and flight home late evening

We did look at doing Liseberg on Day 1 & 2 and travelling in the evening up to TusenFryd for Day 3 and stopping in a hotel in Oslo. This would mean pick the car up in Sweden and dropping it back off in Norway. - having troubling find a company that will allow this.

Is it possible to take a hire car from one country to another (I haven't been able to find one that will allow it)

Be grateful for any information or advice.

Me and a couple of friends from the UK did just this on the 4:th-6:th of May this year, so it's totally doable.

There isn't any problem to drive a rental between Sweden and Norway, and there is only a sign to tell you that you have entered the other country.

You have to pay some road toll at the border and on the Norwegian side.

Be sure to have the car early when going to Tusenfryd, we rented the car from Friday until Sunday to make us less time dependent, it takes about 3 hours to drive.

Beware Norway is very expensive, in fact Oslo is rated as the most expensive city in the world.

That sounds like a fun little coaster trip to two good themeparks with some real good coasters. I've just returned from a trip to Scandinavia. We did pretty much all descent parks in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark (+ Heide Park on our way back).

You´re plan sounds perfectly doable. But have you considered hitting Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen as well?

Day 1: fly to Goteborg + Liseber+ Hotel

Day 2: drive to Copenhagen + Tivoli Gardens + return to Goteborg

Day 3: Drive to Tusenfryd + Tusenfryd + Drive back + evening flight

All parks can be visited in one day, easily (with multiple rides on Balder, Thunder Coasters, Kanonen, Speed Monster and Daemonen).

When you hit Liseberg, be sure to go into the Mystery Ghost Hotel. That ride will cost you three coupons (45 crones, 3 pounds) extra, but it's worth it. Some good scares (from real actors!) on that walk-through ride. If you are an ECC member you can get a VIP wristband for free, and then the ride is for free.

Thanks for the information guys.

I didn't think it would be a problem but didn't want to go ahead with out checking first.

Think I will look at us spending Day 1 & 2 at Liseberg and Day 3 at Tusenfryd and look at car hire pick up at Goteburg and return at Oslo.

Looking forward to it now - want Balder to be my 150th! - Heard a rumour that it's a fabulous ride

Hi,

This is a very popular trip, I was planning doing something like this myself, but going into Torp and back out through Gothenburg.

If you cant get the car, its easy enough to get a bus from Gothenburg to Oslo or the other way. You could fly into Gothenburg and then fly back through Torp or Oslo airport. Tusenfryd is only a short bus journey outside Oslo.

Hi!

Just thought I'd let you know about something. Liseberg isn't open between 3rd-5th of September. Here are the opening hours.

May I suggest that you come to Liseberg on the 1st? They are open between 11-23, and I was thinking of celebrating my Birthday there. Interesting chance to meet?

How is the time schedule going? I might be able to meet you @ Liseberg.

Ned the dates and times, to be able to check @ my work.
