A new kind of Intamin Harness?

I never seen this type of harness before, is it only on Zaturn?

I looks a lot like the Kingda Ka/Storm Runner/etc. harness, but with extra padding near the buckle area.

 

I wonder if Mavrick wil have these...

It won't. I was at Cedar Point opening day, and the test seat still had the old Intamin accelerator restraints. You can also see the restraints here and here.

Well, seeing as Zaturn beat Maverick to the opening, I couldn't call Maverick's restraints "old".

 

I can't help but think that Zaturn's may be better for some reason. Has anyone noticed these on any other Accellerator coaster?

The look really weird. I never knew Zaturn launched right out of the station...

I noticed that too.

 

After ridding Storm Runner, and then riding Xcelerator, I though that shooting out of the station was kind of strange.....and maybe a bit dangerous for bystanders.

I'd rather launch out of a pre-launch, I think it would be more exciting sitting there in the open looking up at what your about to go over.

Maybe I'm missing something, but how are these restraints any different than the ones on Storm Runner, Rita, Stealth, and Kingda Ka?

Interestingly, look at this picture of Zaturn last year, and you can clearly see the older style restraints.

 

Also, Axman, I said that Maverick had "old" restraints, because Maverick's restraints are the same style used on Kingda Ka and Stormrunner (and all the rocket coasters except Xcelerator, TTD, and of course Zaturn).

See where the buckle connects, on Zaturn that area is a lot bigger from the looks of the video.

That's really is wierd. Just between the video and the picture, It's easy to tell that they're different.

Could it either be A. the angle in which the video was shot is making it look weird, or B. they got thicker padding.

 

Either way, why is this significant?

 

Rides add padding to them all the time.

Thanks for pointing that out, I didn't notice that before. Anyway, it seems wierd. Why have more stomache padding?

for fat people when the fat goes over the restraints

 

these don't look any diffren besides the padding, if anything the maverick ones are diffrent since their staps over the shoulders are thicker, and the restriants themselves look thinner.

First of all why do we all care about stomach padding? And second of all maybe it is for the "fwoomp" into the harness on the camelback/brakes. Not that hard to figure.

 

 

One question though, do regular accelerator harnesses have any padding at all? It looks like plastic.

They're rubber, but there really isn't any padding.

If it's just padding on the harness, what's the purpose of it? Not like they slam into the breaks from 70mph to 0 in 2 seconds.
