thefitness
Hey Everyone! Mother's Day weekend my family and I stayed at The GayLord Palms Resort. It's beautiful resort, and an attraction in itself. For those who don't know it's famous for its huge atrium portraying four different areas of Florida. The Everglades, St. Augustine, Key West and Emerald Bay(not sure where that is). Elissa gave me the ok to post this since it's an awesome Orlando based Resort! Thanks Elissa! HAHAHA! Thanks for reading everyone! Since Elissa approved this TR I figured I'd add this! Ooo, ok. At first I thought they were tearing it down. WHAT?!! Ok now for a few DTD pics! It looks like Disney recruited some of SFMM foreign workers. =D Mmmm. Now for the Random pictures! They gave us chocolates for Mother's Day! The family pool was right outside the Key West Section. Family Pool! Complete with octopus water-slide. Key West...(pretend that caption was good!) They had the best Calamari I've ever had. Awesome sand-sculptures. Key West's resturants, Sunset Sam's. You can sit and eat on the pirate ship, and the water is real salt water. Entrance to Key West. These Plants-Bird-Things were in every area of the Resort. Emerald Bay connecting to St. Augustine. Emerald Bay was home to shops and the entrance to the Convention Center. We didn't eat here, but we read you can pick herbs from around the resturant and spice up your meal! Ceiling above St. Augustine and Emerald Bay. St. Augustine was also home to a fort replica. Life must be really exciting for them! St. Augustine was home to these gators. Rooms facing St. Augustine. Right after this sign, the St. Augustine section begins. This is the steakhouse in the Everglades. YAY! This was the 18 and older pool, outside the Everglades section. The hotel was a great contrast to the awesome environment. They had snakes and baby alligators in here. Everglades! ..Que cricket noises.. The long hallways in the Everglades Section.BTW, the rooms had doorbells! I thought that was cool. The view from our balcony. Our room was in the Everglades section of the Resort. Our room. They upgraded us to a suite for Mothers Day! GayLord Palms. USRoadTripper
So why does Gaylord Palms make the Opryland hotel look like a crap hole? Gaylord Palms looks so much nicer! We have themed areas like "Cascades" (how in the hell to you theme a hotel to a cascade??) Anyway, nice trip report! -Julie
thefitness
Thanks everyone for the comments. Julie- Is Opryland Hotel a GayLord Resort also? OK, fess up...who giggled at the name "Gaylord?" Man, that resort is beautiful! Rooms are probably 5 gillion dollars a night! Haha, yes the name is funny. It's actually not as expensive as you would think. I'm not sure the exact price but I'm almost possitive normal rooms are in the Royal Pacific-Hard Rock price range. Also if you dont mind not having an atrium view the rooms are cheaper. music11
^Yeah Opryland is a Gaylord. On the contrary I thought Opryland's hotel was pretty nice looking and was huge especially the convention center which must have been over two football fields big. Although it stinks that they took out the amusement park there it's still a nice hotel. Opryland also has a boat ride inside to that goes around the inside garden area and has a Chinese acrobats show when I went. Gaylord Palms looks like a nice hotel I'll have to stay at when I go down to Florida sometime.
mxman005
Took a tour of this hotel in the fall b/c of a class I was taking. Very Nice. Great theming. Some realy cool technology was introduced in this hotel. The door bells were a very nice touch also. To expensive for me though
