raptorcrew2002 Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Wow, Fox news just showed a fire burning of the other side of the hill of the HOLLYWOOD sign above Universal studios. It looked very close. Any info? Looked pretty big too. Hope it stays on that side of the hill. http://cbs2.com/
Gnome Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 ^ all I could find out was that Paris Hilton could go to jail. With that said Hopefully hollywood life/production won't be disturbed to much. And hopefully the homes and themepark won't be affected to negatively.

Wes Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Yeah I could see it from our offices when I went out for lunch. A brush fire erupted in the hills above the Oakwood Apartment complex in the Hollywood Hills this afternoon, pouring smoke into the air. The blaze was reported about 12:50 p.m. around the 3600 block of Barham Boulevard, near Universal City, said Ron Myers of the Los Angeles Fire Department. About five acres were burned, he said. As of 2:15 p.m., the fire was burning up away from the Oakwood and Warner Bros. studio and into remote brush roughly near Mt. Lee. But the flames where whipping again near large power lines. No structures have been damaged and no injuries were reported, he said. A large plume of smoke could be seen from the San Fernando Valley to Hollywood. There was no immediate impact on traffic but there could be problems as the evening commute begins. "Any time there is heavy smoke like this, we really ask that any drivers be extremely cautious," Myers said. There was no immediate cause of the fire, but the dry conditions and lack of rain were factors in the spread. About 200 firefighters were on the scene and at least five helicopters dropped chemicals on the blaze. No evacuations have been ordered.
SharkTums Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 I'm watching it live on TV right now. They're talking about the fact that they're letting it burn a lot of the crap underbrush as opposed to putting it out ASAP. Doesn't seem like a threat or anything bad right now.
Jew Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 All it did to USH was cause lots of people to stop on the tram bridge or the second starway landing and block the pathways as they looked at the fire.
cobra_roll06 Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 wow that sounds pretty nasty.....Was anyone hurt?
Wes Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 ^ No. It was pretty much done for by like...5pm. I did get to leave work early though cause all the smoke was drifting our way, so that's awesome.
