J man Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 After looking at the picture, I don't think she really looks like a Disney Princess. The way she is drawn it just looks like she walked out of an episode of The Proud Family on the Disney Channel. But I'm hoping for the best. I would absolutely love to see Disney get back to making good 2D animated features. This could be a step in the right direction if they pull it off.
robbalvey Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 I agree that the idea seems a little "forced" but I really think they NEEDED to do this. The "Fairy Tales" have always been their bread and butter and there hasn't been a good one in a while. Nice to see the Little Mermaid/Aladdin guys doing the film (although they didn't mention they were also the Treasure Planet team....) so it might have a chance. Randy Newman - Ugh...not a fan. But whatever. I'll pass my judgement when I hear the music. Did it say if he's just WRITING the songs or actually singing them too? Overall, I think this is a very good thing. And they really can't afford to screw this one up! --Robb
ECZenith Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 I'm glad Disney is going back to 2D animation for at least one more feature. The non-pixar Disney animation is just mehhh and they haven't released a movie in that format yet that really had the same classic feel to a disney movie. (ie Chicken Little, wtf...)In the future I want my kids to be able to see the same kind of stuff I had when I was growing up.
Neogreeneyez Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 Randy Newman...? You've got a friend in me? toy story hit song....? No??? yea you're right he sucks lol YAY for the black princess.... I think that they don't need to be in a real city because fairy tales are supposed to be fictional. Not based in a non-fiction location. ESPECIALLY in N.O. lol. Not the best place to have a cartoon... this has girls flashing their boobs written all over it in Mardi Gras... I wonder if the guy from girls gone wild is staring in this film. ok im done...
Movieguy Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 I'm not a huge fan of Randy Newman, but he's done a few things that I've liked. The score to "The Natural" being one of them. He also did a song about Cleveland at the beginning of "Major League" that I liked a lot.
Milkchan Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Finally, i just hope there won't be any stereotypes in the film. I'm pretty sure that the drawings will be better closer to release. I have a feeling that Jennifer Hudson will be doing the voice over.
