odene497 Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 I remember from some pictures a few years ago someone getting a Vekoma wheel and it was being passed around in a restaurant. How do you go about getting one, or perhaps even an Intamin wheel? I've just been curious and if it's not that hard I'd love to get one. Thanks -Nick C.
sixflagsguy5 Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 The only way I know is by buying a coaster train from the manufacturer.
Carnage Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 Knotts typically gives away a few during the raffle during Solace.
ebl Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 You could just stand under a Vekoma coaster. One'll come down any time... Eric
Wishmaster Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 ^ That actually did happen in the Efteling with the Vekoma trains on Python. You could always try getting one from a park. That's how I got my collection. A final pic of the entire collection. Flying Dutchman Gold Mine at Walibi World. A friend won two of these in the same lottery, but since he didn't want them, he gave them away. El Condor at Walibi World. This one, I won in a lottery during one of the fan days. Either Air Race or Revolution at Bobbejaanland. I got it the same day as the LS wheel. Sadly, Jacky (the former owner) didn't know from which ride it is. Looping Star at Bobbejaanland. We got one as a gift after riding LS a full day for charity.
Jew Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 I won it at the solace 2002 hotel package reception. I don't even know where it is anymore.
cfc Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 You could build your own coaster, just like in that old Johnny Cash tune: "I built it one piece at a time/And it didn't cost me a dime . . ."
odene497 Posted March 10, 2007 Author Posted March 10, 2007 Ok thanks guys. I wasn't sure if you could just order them from the company or something
Carnage Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 ^ If you could it would probably cost you way more then you would want to spend.
ebl Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 ^^ That brings to mind a question: I wonder how many inquiries coaster manufacturers get from people wanting parts as collectibles or souvenirs? It's a pretty scary thought, really. Eric
thomas2 Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 If you're interested in a Morgan wheel than you just have to go swim in a pool located besides SD2K and you're bound to get hit by one
odene497 Posted March 11, 2007 Author Posted March 11, 2007 ^ That's always a possibility. I think I'm going to try and contact my home park, maybe they'd be willing to give up a few used wheels. -Nick
The Undead Creature Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 If you areally desperate, I'll give you the contents of the scrap pile at Gullivers, there's tons of wheels in tehre that I took off the Wild Mine ride this winter. In fact, if you dive in the skip, there's some old brake fins in there too.
ghost007jas Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 ^ How sexy. Would you like my home address? lol
odene497 Posted March 14, 2007 Author Posted March 14, 2007 Well, that would be really cool, but It'd mean more to me to have a wheel from a coaster I've actually ridden. But thank you for the thought
verticalzero Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Ebay.co.uk had a rollercoaster wheel for sale last month, it was from the Vekoma "boomerang" at the former American Adventure in the Midlands. It was going for £20. I was going to bid for it, but I want a special coaster wheel say from the "Beast", "Grand National" and my fav "Wild Mouse". Keep watching www.ebay.com and www.ebay.co.uk
