mark.w Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Definitely Thorpe. In Europe I can't find a better example. As for America, this is probably Great Adventure.
IceDragon Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 I'd say Thorpe...quarry site to medicore park to thrill park in a couple of decades not even a couple of decades really... it pretty much all happened in my lifetime... wow... extreme changes so quickly!!!
RaptorBoyASU Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Jungle Larry! That guy was awesome, before Mantis was there he had a whole animal exhibit right in the center of the park. The exit was right by where Power Tower is now, and that little gift shop (It's TTD-themed now, used to be Power Station) was originally part of the exhibit. Actually, none of it was where Mantis is. The whole thing sat in what is now Power Tower's footprint and queue. It ran alongside corkscrew's entire brake run.
Electerik Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Actually Knott's changed the most starting with Supreme Scream in Summer 1998 and followed by GhostRider a few months later. And what'dya know? Those were the first things Cedar Fair changed when they acquired the park. It was all downhill after that. My understanding is that GhostRider was already in the works when Cedar Fair came in. And they wanted to cancel the project and build a hypercoaster instead. But they couldn't get out of the contract without paying for it anyway. Otherwise, I concur with your statements.
Airtime&Gravity Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Mt. Olympus-went from go karts to go karts and coasters to go karts, coasters, water park, and flat rides. It is really amazing to see the park from 2002 and now in 2007. They are completely different parks, and while still not a great park, in five years, this can be a decent(as in Six Flags) park.
Krazykral10 Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 i have to agree with Dorney Park...I think the only ride that's been there for a while is Thunderhawk. I mean they even moved the entrance from the "back" to the new front! Plus the whole water park and that whole section over there. Dorney is TOTALLY different. But I think most parks change ALOT as they grow so you could really say any park, even Hershey, they added Midway America and that section is so expanded its huge!!
