Rider117 Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Well, for those of you who don't know. There is no Sonic's fast food restaraunts in NJ, so me, Rob and Joe all ventured out yesterday to find one. But, it turned out to be one crazy adventure! I drove to Rob's house around 8:45am and met up with him. We then proceeded in his car's to Bubba Joe's house and stopped at Clementon Park to take some off-season pictures of it. The gate to the park is WIDE open! Oooooooooooooooo, through the trees! I wish it was open! Well, after that we got back on the road to Joe's house. This is what Rob was doing the whole time complaining he was hungry! Always on the phone! We stopped by to see the house with the tree inside it! Finally, we got Joe and we were on the road! Here I am dozing off in the back of the car... Finally after two hours of driving we see the sign! Yay! The menu, but Rob pulled too far away to even reach the call button... The dessert menu... Rob yelling to the lady because she didn't understand a word he said... SuperSonic burger, cheese tater tots, and a Barq's Root Beer=Heaven! And for dessert, a Sonic Blast! So after that, we stopped at Dutch Wonderland and took pictures of the Sky Princess... And that's it for the pictures. The ride home was boring, but once we got into Philly and saw one crazy lady with a cane walking all over the street and the thirty year old lady in the power wheels Escalade on twenties made it alright! Hope you enjoyed it!
OzCatter Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Such a hard way to get to Sonic, I can just hop in my car and drive a half a mile to one!
niiicolaaah Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Wow.. the Sky Princess has the most hideous color scheme.
DerekRx Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Wow, I had no idea they painted Sky Princess such awful colors. Last I rode it (back in 1999) it was white with light blue railing I believe. And if you guys stopped at the Sonic off of 222, I drive by that all the time, yet haven't been there yet. Maybe this weekend...
BarryH Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Too bad you couldn't ride the Lady Gay at Dutch Wonderland.
YoshiFan Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Sonic really needs to expand. I think that is the closest Sonic to me as well. They advertise on TV around here but they are none in the area. I don't like the new Sky Princess colors either and it's just another example of what I really don't like what Hershey has done to Dutch Wonderland since purchasing the park (what I hate the most is getting rid of the Old Engine 99 train ride). There were even rumors that they were going to change the name of the Sky Princess next year and I hope that doesn't happen either.
GMAN962 Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 I've never eaten at Sonic in my life.....I think.....then again I don't think I've ever even seen a sonic burger. -Mike
ginzo Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 I've never eaten at Sonic in my life.....I think.....then again I don't think I've ever even seen a sonic burger. -Mike You're not missing much. In-n-Out Burger is a lot better. Sonic likes to smear way too much mustard on their burgers, and they're not that fresh. You can get similar food at any fast food burger place. Take your pick.
Myself Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 I don't like the new Sky Princess colors either and it's just another example of what I really don't like what Hershey has done to Dutch Wonderland since purchasing the park (what I hate the most is getting rid of the Old Engine 99 train ride). YoshiFan Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 I was there in 2003 and the ride was gone so I guess it was removed in between the 2002 and 2003 seasons
Bubba Z Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Old 99 went up for auction in 03. You could have bought one for 200-300 dollars depending on the shape it was in. If I had a truck that day it would be sitting in my back yard today. I also notice that Williams grove had one laying around near the mini golf. At the auction I bought a Bubba the Bear sign and a playground spring Duck. The best Item of the day was the old blue monorail car , but it was $2,500 just to take it off the track. Then again the highest bid was only a dollar. That whole trip was a lot of fun, too bad they painted Sky Princess those ugly colors.
