Carnage
Hope you don't mind waiting. It had a 2-4 hour line when I was there friday night. I'll be waiting until I can get out there on an empty day before riding it. I'm not waiting hours for it.
SharkTums
Look forward to hearing both of your reviews of the ride, since it seems to have had such promise when we all saw the video and press materials, and now after seeing the actual ride everyone seems a bit let down. Carnage
^ It looks pretty decent, just nothing special. When it was actually running it seemed to be cycling pretty quickly as well. However it definety does not look like the start of the 3rd golden age of coasters like pkicentral.com is reporting. Seems their report crosses the suck up line by just a bit. Hattuchili
Hey everyone, I found some good new pictures and movies from the building and testing phase! I think that ride looks really nice. pgathriller
I saw the video and I was disapointed. I was expecting a lot more of this ride. It doesn't look like a coaster I would wait in line for 3 hours. I thought this coaster was going to be the best coaster that opened up this year but I was wrong. The cars look cool but that was the only thing I liked about it.
kenshinmac
The ride still looks the same as it always did to me. Cheap, low capacity, no thrills, crap effects... Sadly enough they probably spent plenty on these... I don't know what they were thinking. I mean paramount really could have picked a better movie. thrillrider1
OK guys. sorry im a little late with the review. anyway here it is. We waited in line from the "90min wait from this point sign" and timed it. and in reality only waited an hour. any way you get in the cars, which are VERY comfortable by the way, the door gets shut and you are launched very smoothly up to 40 mph. you go throiugh the helix, down and hill, twist through some cop cars, whip around some billboards, go down the stairs (which feel nothing like actually stairs even thought thats how its advertised) and you stop. Then a 5ft long helicopter comes over the top of some pump thingy and starts shooting at you. its kind of fun with all the water and fire but nothing special till the "BIG BOOM" when i huge fire goes up. then you go down a drop into a big tunnel which has alot of twists and turns. the tunnel is supposed to be a subway tunnel but it just feels like a tunnel. then you turn, go out the billboard, into the aquaduct turn, and the rides over. IMO the ride was very fun with music playing the whople time (sept the helicopter part) the launch is fun and the ride is smooth as glass. is highly themed, just in no specific order. if you had never seen the italian job you would have noi idea what the hell was going on. I enjoyed it nun the less. its just to bad the "Stairs", were crap. It was still worth the wait though. I woud give it a 7/10.
CoasterFanatic
^ From my understanding the fishtail and stair effects are not yet operational. // Remembers a time when rides opened on opening day ... and worked.
Carnage
^ Meh, just as long as it opens. Hell, I'm surprised enough of how early PCW is open. It's even open a full week before some of the major parks like Cedar Point.
SharkTums
^^Say it again!!! I too remember this day...not so much anymore! Now it seems perfectly reasonable for parks not to open new rides till June or even July when they open for operation in March!?!? It just doesn't seem quite right to me. Elissa "even parks like Busch...ugh" Alvey
coaster1
reminds me of the shirt I saw at SFOG this weekend. Had all their coasters on the back and the opening dates ... early time (60s to 80s) they all opened around March or April .. then Deja Vu had 9/2001 and everything else was on time .. scary. Mind Eraser
As for the "Italian Job is a stupid theme" thing: Paramount often seems to give their themed coasters taglines. My best guess is so that when the theme gets too "old", they can drop it. I can picture Paramount dropping the first part and just calling it "Stunt Track". Same goes for Tomb Raider: Firefall at PKD. When they wanna get rid of the movie theme, they can call it simply "Firefall". Remember when Paramount lost the licensing for the Outer Limits brand? They just dropped the TV theme and renamed it "Flight of Fear". Six Flags did the same thing with the new spinner at SFNE. When everyone gets sick of Mr. Six, they can drop his name and call it "Pandemonium". -kip-
pgathriller
^ I agree that the Italian Job is a stupid name. Who names these rides?
thrillrider1
Why do you guys hate the name so much? its just a name. The ride is still good and if you cant see past the name your being really superficial. I mean, who cares? how many of you have evn been on it? Carnage
I'm not sure about Italian Job, but some movie themed rides start being planned before the movie is even released. So they sometimes have to guess how popular a movie will end up being while they are planning the ride.
socalMAN123
It doesn't look like it goes that fast. Maybe the fastest speed is a little faster than Jaguar @ KBF, but probably no higher. Still looks like a fun ride though. Is the "stairs" effect supposed to make it feel like your bouncing down the stairs by making the cars move up and down? ---Brent 8)
