Has ANYBODY Been to Deano's Wonder Wheel and Cyclone?

Alright, heres something that is in the works for a family vacation this summer. Going to New York City... well, two things I want to do...

 

1. Go to GADv (see other thread for help tips, this is strictly for the Coney Island/Astroland/Deano's)

 

2. Head to the Coney Island area... get my credit for Cyclone and ride Deano's Wonder Wheel.

 

Anybody have any tips on Coney Island? Or have been there...

I've never been to Coney, and I'm surprised people still go there, because I heard it's turned into a pretty seedy place. Ever seen that movie "The Warriors" where the gang made Coney their home turf? Yeah, that's the image I get when I think of the place now.

It's not that bad anymore, the new subway station is very nice and the ballpark makes it somewhat more comfy. The Cyclone beats the HELL out of you, but it's great fun. No tips really .. never seen it too busy at all. Don't forget Nathan's down the block from the Cyclone.

I think Astroland has a Wacky Worm that's named something else and a kiddie coaster at Deno's. Whore it up, dude!

Not only should you ride the Cyclone but .... you should

 

eat at Nathan's famous,

ride the dark ride,

take a spin on the Wonder Wheel,

walk the Boardwalk,

shoot the Freak,

take in some of the most insane flats in the world,

ride the bumper cars ... some of the best,

and take pictures for everyone at TPR.

 

But, under no circumstances should you ride the last row of the Cyclone.

-Stop and talk to some of the carnys...They're fun

-NEVER get ANY food other than Nathan's (the original, I think there's an imitation on the boardwalk)

-They might have stopped it, but don't drink too much before you go...They charged us 25 cents to take a piss in a small trailer.

-Before you go on the pirate ship flat ride in Astroland, make sure you have a good ride op. Last time I went on it lasted for at least 5 minutes.

-ALWAYS go for the moving cars in the Wonder Wheel

-NEVER go to Nathan's right after or before a baseball game

-Plan to get all your Cyclone rides in at one time, the re-rides are a lot cheaper than going on again at different times...Plus, you can pick almost any seat you want.

If you plan to have a few rides on Cyclone you may want to consider getting there Pay once wrist band for $21.99

 

Cyclone is $5 for first ride & $4 for re-rides.

Theres also a coupon on the Astroland site for $3 off the wristband during the week.

 

Another tip - dont get conned by the game sellers along the boardwalk close to the park
