I did all the way up to the top of the lift hill on the CAD drawing so far, which reminds me. I stopped drafting up at that point! It's no prob. I don't really need to do the drafting, I could come back to that later.

This weekend, my goal is to get to the cross-over where the station is.

Also, so far good voting! Right now I see that 34 members voted and that's almost about the number of votes in the semi-final voting! Keep it up!

Last weekend I took apart an old RC car I had to examine it's motor and I found out that it had gears on it to make it easier. I also found at a local hardware store, what I could use for a lift chain. Going by the measurements, the chain must be no bigger than 1/2" wide and it must have latches for the chain dogs. Right now I'm very happy to see my project is coming together. When it's all done, I hope to set it up at special events and raise donations for local causes.

Using cooltext. com I have finally made the logos for the 6 names. If anyone knows any other "create your own logo/text sites" to make better ones please let me know.

I was thinking of it meaning to come back from the dead in sort of like a ghost form. Like seeking revenge on a battle that the Kamikaze lost in the past and a few years later having them rise from the dead to seek revenge.

I'd like to thank my dad for helping me with this. Over the last couple days I started brainstorming ideas for a logo for the coaster (ex. storm runner=the horse, mantis= praying mantis etc.) I thought up this split in half circle with one arrow going out each side design. When dealing with logos I need to keep in mind copyright so if anyone knows a logo like this that is copyrighted already, let me know.

I also came up with a little "motto" to go with the coaster.

"FEAR THE SPIN!"

Please post your comments!

I haven't been just working on the logo all this time, I've also worked on the plans for the coaster. Yet I do have to agree that I have been slacking off on working on the drawing from doing RCT and other things. Below is my progress, the yellow line is the center line of the track and the dashed line around the coaster is the platform on which it will be sitting on.

What you see is the top view. I've also started the side view which is not shown.

again, not to be discouraging, however, i think you were on a more successful path a few months ago. You were planning on building a SMALL portion of track to ensure that your track building methods will work. IMO, you're tackling too much at once, you've given yourself a distant deadline, so use it. make sure your track and train will work before you dive in head first. Also, your priorities are completely mis-placed, i really wouldn't worry about logos and names until you know the thing will work!. Another issue i see is scale. EVERYTHING NEEDS TO BE TO SCALE!!. you were talking about a chain 1/2 inch wide when your tack may only be a couple inches at most. have you thought about what the train will be constructed of, what you will use for wheels(including guide and up-stop) and just scanning some of your drawings, your "rolls" are too compact, lengthen them or i think you may lose too much speed. By-all-means, keep designing, i would love to see this finished, but "designing" should be your key-word right now. think things through, one step at a time, patience will allow your creation to become tangible.

I still have the draw-up for the test track so I think I will bring that back into play. It shouldn't take me that much time to build it.

Also thanks for the reminder and I really should put some more thought into it.

Just yesturday I got a camcorder I how would you guys like for me to not just update you with pics, but with video updates as well? This way I could explain the project and my ideas for it a little more easier. Opinions below.

Hmm, just remember though all this stuff like naming, logos, videos is on the side and not central to the project. Like its OK to do some video updates, but your main focus should be on doing the stuff necessary to the project rather than entertaining others with updates on every little thing, after all they aren't the ones grading it.

I think you are beating around the bush too much, this topic is 13 pages long already and all it has really been so far is just lots of sketches. I think right now you should drop everything and build a simple straight section of track no more than half a meter long, and a single car and then just experiment with that.

And also, USE NO LIMITS! it will really help in terms of designing a layout the train is going to be able to make it through, as has been said many times before, your jojo rolls etc are way too short, and in real life it would be too tight for the train to make it around, and would have excessive g forces. Also, looking at that CAD image on the previous page there seems to be a set of double corkscrews, yet each corscrew appears to be only the equivalent width of the catwalk! and by the nature of the element you would end up with something shorter than the station building! yet after this the track is leading around into some sort of raven turn/imellmann which would be bigger than the first element. Not very realistic. Again No Limits helps here because you can get the size of elements compared to the actual track correct.
