ECZenith Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 They have to allow some kind of rolback, take Superman The Escape for example. They may be programmed to brake in the reverse direction but I'll leave that up to one of our many LIM/LSM experts.
dylang Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 Can you please put the POV of this ride in the Professional Videoagraphor Forurm so I can Find it easier?
Vekoma Fan Boy Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 They have to allow some kind of rolback, take Superman The Escape for example. They may be programmed to brake in the reverse direction but I'll leave that up to one of our many LIM/LSM experts. Why whats with S:tE? EDIT: Do you mean the roll bck brakes on ALL rocket coasters?
ECZenith Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 S:tE is a ride designed to "roll back" meaning the LSMs that launch the car also gradually slow it down in the other direction.
Twister II Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 ^ That would cause problems with blocking I bet. Consider Maverick. A block has to be at the bottom of the "launch" or what ever it is, if a train were to roll back on the lift thingy, it would run into the train waiting in block.
DisWiz Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 Took this quote from this article here http://www.funworldmagazine.com/2006/aug/features/coaster_connoisseurs/coasterconn.html "Each has its advantages and disadvantages,” explains Kernacs. “The LSM coaster is a more complex design and requires more sensitive sensors, but it produces twice the force as the LIM for the same amount of energy, and you don’t need brakes because the LSM system acts as the brakes. The LIM is easier to design and maintain, but it only produces half the torque, and you must have an anti-rollback system because the LIMs will not brake. Eventually, I believe the LSM coasters will be favored over LIM coasters because of their higher efficiency"
the sound Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 Well, the only TRUE Aqua Trax. Maverick just doesn't have a lot of water. Aquatrax is just the design of the boat/track. Doesn't mean that it has water or anything. Aquatrax's are differen't from watercoasters. Just saw the POV, and until the part were it was like the second launch, i thought it was pretty lame looking, and i couldn't understand why people were on a lot of sites are like "Oh yeah, Aquatraax's are sooooo good! I hope Cedar Point Gets one!" Even then, i wouldn't call it a top 20 ride. Apart from when you saw that gyro swing come out of no-where on the lift hill. That bit was cool!
Guy T. Koepp Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 This ride just looks meh. Could have been the bad video though. The stuff inside that you realy couldn't see might have been fun with some nice pops of air. I would have to ride it to give an accurate review. Don't know when that will happen.
ECZenith Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 The layout looks awesome but I find the interior scenery 'meh' upon taking a second look at the video. The outside of the building is so impressive and then that dragon thing they have inside of it is so... not.
