kayoss Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Hey there... looking at all of Robb's videos, there's SO MANY cool parks in Japan. I just want to get Robb's and everyone else's opinions on what I absoutely shouldn't miss during my 10 days in Japan (post the days I'm spending in Disneyland Resort) and what coasters and parks I should make no qualms about visiting. I already know I'm going to Universal Japan and FujiQ to visit the new 4D Coaster. I also want to ride a pipeline coaster since I've never been on one. SUPER pissed Japan's bobsled coaster closed April of 2006 (DAMN!!!) since I've never done one of those either. I'm going to try and hit Spaland to check out Steel Dragon (if open) I guess my question is (ESPECIALLY for my love and obsession with dark rides) what should I for sure not miss in that regard? Thanks so much for any tips!! ADMIN EDIT: Made the title a little less confusing, fixed some spelling to increase chances of getting reply. Our Robb uses two B's
cfc Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 "You are don't misses"? Oh, "your don't misses." You might want to edit that title.
ECZenith Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 One of the parks has a really large haunted hospital walk-thru that I heard was really good. I forget which park it's at though...
SharkTums Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 ^Fuji Q. One of the parks with the best walkthroughs and dark rides was Mitsui Greenland, but that was pretty far south. Seriously though, if you have time (and you should!) don't be afraid to go into any dark ride! Chances are, it will be worth your time!

I have one of those green car Japan Rail Passes, so plan on using the heck out of it If I go to Mitsui Greenland, should I stay in a hotel over there, or plan on just riding the rails back to Shiodome?
Three Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Not that I've been or anything, but it would be hard for me to miss Parque Espana. Bullfight Coaster! Pyrennes! Escalator! Seriously. How could you pass that up?

How could you pass that up? Ah yes, the Escalator ride..... I definitely won't miss that! Also, since Nara Dreamland is now closed, do you think it would be worth going there anyway, on the chance they may be demolishing it? Talk about a surreal photo essay!
thomas2 Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 I'm going to try and hit Spaland to check out Steel Dragon (if open) SD2K opens tomorrow so you might want to go and check it out
Satoshi Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 yay at last sd2k's back open and i wanna hit spaland as well like topic starter means. for the gooda peeps who love sd2k hope it's gonna rule whole spaland park!
Adriel Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 First rule, never miss Tokyo Disney Resort. This is simply the best family theme park resort in Japan. Fuji-Q is a great park. Altough some rides break down a lot. Universal, my uncle said it is a very good park. It has Spider-Man, Snoopy, 2 4-D movies and Jurassic Park. Plus a new coaster in 2007. Fantastic. Another thing maybe you can visit LaQua, especially at night! Ride Thunder Dolphin at night! Beautiful, except if it's raining.
dubaidave Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Disney sea is a must do as is Fuji Q, particualry for the haunted Hospital thing. Universal is very good, particulary if you use the single rider lines. People dont sem to know what they are for, Spiderman had a 70 min wait but the single line was a walk on, very strange. I, personally, loved Yomiuriland. It had a good selection of rides and was in a great location, if a bit run down. Also, IMO, Thunder dolphin would be a not to miss, but hey, otheres would dissagree. most of all have fun, Try and visit Harajuku on a Saturday afternoon to see the Cosplay people, and, if you like bars, Gas Panic is great on a Tuesday night. oh yes heres a link to my pics too. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18236&highlight=dubaidave+japan
captain Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Hello, my tips are: Tokyo Disney Resort is a must (if you`ve enough money try to stay at the MiraCosta Hotel). La Qua is great for an evening. I hate Fuji-Q, but if it`s a nice day (I mean no rain, no wind...) it is a must-do. For the smaller parks I liked Hirakata (you can do it on the same day as the Universal Studios) or the Nasu Highland (but it`s a little bit harder to reach from Tokyo). Expoland and Nagashima is for credit counter. As DubaiDave said, Yomiuriland is the nicest of the smaller Tokyo parks. Beside the parks I also can absolutely recommend Harajuku, a cultural half day trip to Nikko or a cultural side trip to Kyoto. If you wanna see my experiences try and check out the TRs I made: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=25130&postdays=0&postorder=asc&sta rt=0 Oh I miss Japan. Andy
