larrygator Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Herc - let me answer for The Filing Man. well uh, it was a last minute thing, I couldn't find your # and e-mail, I didn't think you would have the time or money, last time I saw you in Jersey someone got punched in the face and since Larry wouldn't be with us I didn't want one of us to get hit.
ECZenith Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Oh, and to whoever asked about the shoot-the-guy-with-paintballs game. I saw it at Wildwood and also I believe in Seaside Heights when I was there in July. Can't believe someone would actually pay to do that...
Rugged One Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Just curious Joe if you actually rode the kiddie coaster at Steel Pier? I'm just wondering as when we were there last summer we weren't sure if adults were allowed to ride and the line was so long, that we said screw it. Also thanks for the update on the Pirate's Hideaway. We were thinking about hitting the Northern Jersey Piers in a couple of weeks but if that is about as far as they have come along, I'm thinking we might as well wait until next year. Isn't one of those piers supposed to go bye bye sometime in the future?
Hercules Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 ^^ The Alvey's paid to do it. YOU'RE BANNED. Herc - let me answer for The Filing Man. well uh, it was a last minute thing, I couldn't find your # and e-mail, I didn't think you would have the time or money, last time I saw you in Jersey someone got punched in the face and since Larry wouldn't be with us I didn't want one of us to get hit. Yup, that's about right.
pvcoasterguy Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Moser actually makes really good rip-off rides. In fact, half of the time they are better than the ride they're ripping off. Example: Adventureland (Iowa) Moser Sidewider (a rip-off of Huss Giant Frisbee or a rip-off of an Intamin Gyro Swing). This ride is simply great, and is incredibly forceful for such a small ride. Better than the real thing- great weighlessness, forces, and sensations. Moser Splash Over (a rip-off of Huss Top Spin)- less ball-crushing, tight restraints, has an amazing program with some airtime! This thing can move much quicker than the top spin, and has more thrilling maneuvers. Five front filps followed by five back flips, at the end of the program, is pretty insane. Just keep your legs on the bar in front of you to prevent ball smashing.
ECZenith Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Nothing beats Mondial's splashover for top spin type rides. I had no idea Moser made one also! They are quite different though... Mondial Moser
ParkTrips Posted August 30, 2006 Author Posted August 30, 2006 Just curious Joe if you actually rode the kiddie coaster at Steel Pier? I'm just wondering as when we were there last summer we weren't sure if adults were allowed to ride and the line was so long, that we said screw it. I had no problem, some of the others gave me a hard time though. I'm thinking we might as well wait until next year. Isn't one of those piers supposed to go bye bye sometime in the future? Good call, and yea, I think Steel Pier is down for the count. well uh, it was a last minute thing, I couldn't find your # and e-mail, I didn't think you would have the time or money, last time I saw you in Jersey someone got punched in the face and since Larry wouldn't be with us I didn't want one of us to get hit. ha. ha. ha. And to think I still have SF America pics to post =\
ParkTrips Posted August 31, 2006 Author Posted August 31, 2006 Part XII: Sunday at Six Flags America Once again I only went for the evening, 1. because its hot and humid during the day (not that the night eneded up being any better) and 2. I didn't really feel like paying to park. Well when I got there the booths were still occupied but fortunately I was able to pick one with an attendant who was taking a little nap. A little "you let me in without paying and I won't tell Guest Relations that you were sleeping on the job" never hurt anyone, and I was in the parking lot free. I bought the 5/$10 flash passes but didn't end up using but one, that being on the SLC. And here we go... I have never heard of Medievel Times. Rich, do you have any idea what this place is? OK That concludes this PTR, I hope it didn't completely suck. I never knew Chick Fil A closed on Sundays. Larry, do you know anything about this? Reminiscent of Vegas, I tried several times adn could not win a penguin The ride was a let-down of sorts, I guess. It ran on par with the DL one which is supposed to be inferior. It has developed a nasty rattle and I've definatley had better rides at DL. It's probably in the 10-15 range on my list Unfortunatley there would be no back car rides for me After 3 or 4 rides on Wild One, it was time for me to tackle the last coaster in the park... the famous SROS Wild One kicked ass! It's top 10 stuff for me I like this sight I did not feel like waiting in that line for a kiddie coaster considering I had just ridden about 20 of the the day before =\ Hey SFOG, THIS is what a splash is supposed to look like Very typical GCII with PTCs.. decent air but not much of it, kinda rough, in need of flyers to be a cool ride Roar would be the "joe-friendly" attraction at the park today ugh, that was NOT a good SLC. One train ops didn't help my perception of the ride. The park was moderatley busy, only the Vekomas had big lines
Meteornotes Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 I'm convinced that eventually SFA will become a mall or houses, and I can't say that I'd really miss it all that much. Like you said S:ROS has gotten really bad over the last couple of years, now running pretty much like the DL one (which I thought was really bad). SFA does have one bright spot, though: Wild One. This is one of the most underrated coasters out there, and I hope that when the day comes that SFA is closed and the "Olive Garden Coming Soon" sign is posted, that someone will step up and buy Wild One and move it to a better home... dt
Erik Johnson Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Glad you had a good time. I thought SFA has a decent collection of coasters myself. The Wild One is certainly in my top five in all the wooden coasters I have ridden. It was a real surprise.
larrygator Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Joe - for the record Chic-Fil-A also closes early on Independence Day. I actually prefer Roar over Wild One but that's just me
DerekRx Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 The Wild One is certainly in my top five in all the wooden coasters I have ridden. It was a real surprise. What, all 5 of them?
Bubba Z Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Dave it's not called whack the Iraq but it still there. It has something to do with Insurgents now. Joe nice re-cap of my summer, good Job.
mcjaco Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Medieval Times is a restaurant where you watch a medieval show, knights jousting....that sort of thing. They serve food without utencils.
