gregster
Hi there, I was hoping one of you guys might be able to help me...! I'm after some info on Cedar Points' Coaster Mania event, in particular what they offer, what they charge and what makes it so special? I've done some searching about on the web, but I mostly find trip reports etc - no schedules for the day. I know next years event is in June, but I'm kind of after info now :s Hope somebody can help Greg
coaster1
Price: CF Passholders are free .. otherwise its around $35.00/ticket (admission to the park/food) Schedule: ERT starts around 630am and runs til 930 when Joe Cool and Hotel guests are allowed in. The last two I did (2004, 2005), they had ERT on Top Thrill, Millennium Force and Mantis. After ERT .. lunch around noon in a pavilion, then free the rest of the day and about 2-3 hrs of ERT at night usually on Magnum and Raptor. That's about it. gregster
Thanks! That's perfect - just what I needed to know Now, one last question if you don't mind... I'm told it gets very busy and ERT can mean longer lines than a quiet day at the park. If this is the case, why do people go? What makes it so special? Cheers Greg
Reality15
You get to be at Cedar Point early in the morning until late at night with some of your closest friends (well, at least that's what I like about it). Yes, it does get "busy" as compared to, say, a weekday in May, but still, it's not THAT bad.
gregster
^That's the answer I thought I'd get/was hoping for - cheers! Greg
steel
Next year's Coaster Mania,a long with Geauga Lake's Coaster EXT, has been moved to the two days prior to ACE's CoasterCon XXX at Paramount's King's Island, Stricker's Grove, Holiday World, and Beech Bend. Just letting you know.
benzo41190
Does anyone know if they are a little bit nicer with there camera policy during this event?
Hercules
^^ That is a pretty smart strategy. ^ I would have to say no. I don't really get what is so great about this event and I don't really think that anything makes it special. I haven't been to this, but I have been to a couple of other Cedar Fair run enthusiast events, and they were nothing great and the schedule was basically the same for them as this event. I would just say that the only appeal is that you would get to hang out with hundreds and hundreds of fellow nerds.
steel
I haven't been to CoasterMania myself, but I can tell you what's so great about it. ERT. Millennium Force. Top Thrill Dragster. The only thing nearly as good would be night ERT on Patriot. I'm told it gets very busy and ERT can mean longer lines than a quiet day at the park. That's actually not true. ERT means much shorter lines, unless it's a really low capacity ride. You will wonder where everyone went. On top of that, CP's premier rides (Magnum, Millie, TTD) have great capacities. You shouldn't have a problem. And if you get a good ride team, you're in for a memorable experience (e.g. night and morning ERT on Raging Bull at CCXXVIII - running all three trains with enthusiastic ops). coaster1
^ That's not true, some ERT's during CoasterMania can get insane due to the high attendence there as it is NOT required you be apart of any coaster club, it's open to the general public. M_Force_4_ever
I went to Coastermania in 2005 and 2006 and the ERT had about at longest a 10 minute line and at shortest a walk on. its pretty fun, and when else can you be at CP for 18 hours in a day? DailyBugle_JL
Ive only been to maybe 5 different coaster events. I went to Coastermania this year and it is my favorite coaster event yet. I would have to say my favorite part of Coaster mania would have to be the Q&A session. The guy complaining about the seatbelts this year was hilarious. I hope hes there for an encore next year. ^ That's not true, some ERT's during CoasterMania can get insane due to the high attendence there as it is NOT required you be apart of any coaster club, it's open to the general public. Only part that was insane was the mad dash for TTD at 6 something in the morning. Its alot further than it looks. Only time we really had to wait for a "long" time was at midnight when everyone was at Mforce since it was down all day. Even then the line still moved really fast. Well if you haven't been to Coastermania, then how much of an authority are you on the subject? ERT does generally mean shorter lines......at other events. We visited CoasterMania in '02 and '03, and I can honestly say that ERT didn't exactly translate into what I was expecting. ERT at CoasterMania (at least those two years) generally meant that you got maybe 1-2 extra rides on both MF and, um, Raptor, since TTD was closed for the event in its first year. Heck, I never waited less than a half hour for any of our MF rides. I have heard that it's better to plan on going to the park the day before the event, and then attending the event mostly for the Q&A (if you're into that stuff), the added picnic lunch, and a few extra rides during "ERT."
