Angry_Gumball Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Second theme park TR now that I have posted...Anyway, I just want to say it was HOT...very hot. Starting off, we hit the park at opening time. Our first choice was to ride Medusa. Just a 5-train station wait seemed like an eternity as they were stacking trains left and right. Finally, we got on. Great ride as usual...possibly the best 3 minutes ever in the park. Ran smooth. I went and did some off-ride footage as they were strict about onride stuff. Off to Ocean Discovery, I got to pet some slimey stingrays and was the only one from our group lucky enough to touch a dolphin...and then some stupid guy kept aggrivating one of the dolphins by lightly slapping it. The dolphin was ready to take a nip at him that he would have deserved. I headed over to Roar and sure enough, I met "Man." (Member of TPR and WWS) All of us hung out together for the day. Roar ran good as usual as well...they trip out about taking cameras on rides but they let a waterbottle slip. During the ride, I got to watch H2O-airtime as water floated up in the bottle. Roar's wait was a walk-on...no wait at all. From there, we rode V2 and I did some off-ride filming of that. Finally, the moment we were waiting for: Vekoma Bashing! We rode Kong and got a nice rough bangy ride on it. It actually got rid of my headache that I had. I got the brainy idea to ride the Tazmanian Devil (Frisbee) but it was down...We checked out the new Tava's Jungle-land instead and got to ride the rock 'n tug they had. Even got a pov of it and a 'face cam' of all of us on it. We also rode the top spin which was more like a top rock...didn't even flip much. And sure enough, it broke down. First Huss ride to die on us. I wanted to ride Hammerhead so we went to that direction. After being seated and everything, my brother decided to do a "Knotts Berry Farm Crusher" maneuver on me be slamming my restraints down...that hurt like crazy during the ride. It was finally lunch time as this was a company picnic. After that, "Man" gave me a call and told me that Medusa was empty. We headed over to that and sure enough, one more train to wait for and it broke down. We then ditched Medusa after 10 minutes or so of waiting. We then decided to do our second try on the Tazmanian Devil (Huss Frisbee ride) and was finally working until we got there...then it broke down again. We got th watch the "Human-Powered Huss Frisbee" in action..quite funny if you ask me. In a few minutes, it was up again. Stupid ops wouldn't even let me POV a flat ride so I had to stuff my camera into my pockets...(restraints covered my pouch, so I couldn't put it in there.) Back over to Tava's once again and rode the Look-out balloons. I got a POV on that one as well as we were spinning pretty fast. Back over to Roar again but to my non surprise, it was down for the remainder of the day. Finally, "Man" had to leave and we were getting ready to head out. Usual visit to the giftshop and I picked up some shirts that were marked down. I'll post pix probably sometime during the week as most pix will be screen grabs of what I taped.
Rollerholden Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 It's always hot in Vallejo! Was Medusa running 2 trains? You should see when they run 3! (I've only seen it once) They were double stacking the whole day. And Kong isn't rough haha, it's just special. No, I really like Kong. Glad you survived! I remember one day I was there in the summer (stupid me, I wore pants). Anyways, we were getting our season passes and the line was huge, long story short, I nearly passed out! Now I know to drink lots of water haha. P.S. - I never had any trouble getting POVs on MEdusa, V2, Kong, and Boomerang (I figured Roar would be too shaky to even try).
Angry_Gumball Posted July 23, 2006 Author Posted July 23, 2006 I forgot to add: We got a peice of a Zonga bolt and a Zonga nut. As for onrides, I had better luck in Tava's Jungle Land than the rest of the rides in the park. I was real close to POVing Tazmanian Devil and one of the ride ops were gonna let it slide as she was new but the guy said my least favorite 2-letter word: no. Oh well, offride footage can sometimes come out more funny than onride footage. You guys will kinda see when I get pix posted.
Rollerholden Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 I miss Zonga... ...wait....no I don't No, it really was a great coaster for being so compact. Too bad it was so painful!
man Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 YAY im in there. It was freeking hot like every 10-20 min we took a drink of water. Still got dehydrated. That was fun though and preety funny. I wish I could see more blowholes hehe edit: you forgot to mention how the raft ride was down. REALLY hot day and the raft ride was out of water
stormrider Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Yeah, I remember when I was too short when three trains ran on Medusa and saw them stack. I thought it broke down, but now I know better BTW, is it really called Nitro now?
Rollerholden Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 ^I hope not. When I think Medusa, I think of the floorless Medusas. When I think of Nitro, I think of the B&M hyper.
Angry_Gumball Posted July 24, 2006 Author Posted July 24, 2006 No, they corrected their signs...and yes, we suddenly found the word "Blow-Holes" to be funny when petting the dolphins. Also, I did forget to mention that a key water ride ran out of water. As of right now, I'm still chuckling at the whole Blow Hole thing.
stormrider Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 How the hell could that even happen? They would have to have them printed, receive the signs in the mail and look at them and think before they put them up. Oh well, they'll probably be shipped back to New Jersey . . .
Angry_Gumball Posted August 5, 2006 Author Posted August 5, 2006 Sorry I'm 2 weeks late...here's the promised low quality screengrabs for pix. Sorry about the interlacing...anyway, enjoy the pix. I'll end the TR with Man screaming to death on the Rock'n Tug at Tava's Jungleland! Ok...time to stop spinning before I spew all over! *begins singing* Just keep spinning, just keep spinning...spinning, spinning spinning... And they did... Get that camcorder outta my face or we'll poop on you! Yay! Finally working. Prepping Taz for a 5 minute test run... Sorry guys...We'll do our best efforts to operate the ride ourselves without all that fancy electronic junk. Broken rides again...It swing like this for 4 minutes or so...I even timed it on my camcorder. KBF Crunched (As seen from one of the TPR videos.) This hurt like crazy! Well, SF must keep with tradition: Closed Coasters...Since they don't have a Deja Vu, they figured to close Boomerang. The train sat there all day like that. Wiii!!! Rock'n Tug in Tava's Jungle Land...one of the few rides I could ride there and POV as well. Another Siggy: Medusa through Hang 'n Bang track. Signature shot: Kong and Medusa through ride op's head. Yay! Sign of Quality! Note: If you turn your monitor upside down, you'll be able to view the pic correctly. Yay! More Siggie shots...Kong through mesh roof, framework, and spiderwebs!! Create-A-Caption V1.5 Like I said...it was HOT! Couldn't go without drinking water...even when mid ride on a coaster. By the way, Man is sitting next to me. Corkscrewy goodness! Signature Shot 1: Medusa train going down first drop through the trees! Yea, waddya want? You think you gonna get something from me?!? Waka waka waka....I mean, waddle waddle waddle...By the way, my name is Mr Waddles. Pic of the day...Stingray petting POV shot! Should I swim by that weirdo or change directions real fast? Pet meeee!!! I'm all slimey!! Bashing heads since day 1... Wiii! First ride of the day after ride ops playing tetris by stacking trains.
man Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 I LOVE THAT LAST PIC OF ME. that ride was fun. So wheres the acctual video of that and the baloon thing
Rollerholden Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Bashing heads since day 1... Aww I love Kong! I have a special place in my heart for that ride....it was my first looper! So I'm curious, how much better is Roar now?
Angry_Gumball Posted August 5, 2006 Author Posted August 5, 2006 Under Man's request, here's the whacky video of us on the kiddie Rock'n Tug ride...it was actually quite fun. 060723-019.zip
downunder Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 I was planning on going Labour day, I really just want to ride all the coasters (how sweet, new credits) especially Medusa and have a look around. What are the coaster waits like? Also, does anyone know what the ferry from fishermans wharf to vallejo is like (that is the only way I can get there)?
ECZenith Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Dude, did they paint Kong ANOTHER color scheme already or is that just the photo?
Angry_Gumball Posted August 5, 2006 Author Posted August 5, 2006 You mean the red/orange track with yellow supports? Kong used to be Orange with brown supports back in 2000 and repainted it for the 2001 season.
Rollerholden Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 I was planning on going Labour day, I really just want to ride all the coasters (how sweet, new credits) especially Medusa and have a look around. What are the coaster waits like? I forget what holiday weekend I went, but it was one weekend, and it was PACKED! My dad and I waited 2 1/2 hours for Medusa, then 1 hour for Boomerang, and decided nothing was worth the wait since we go a lot. But summer week days, everything is a walk on, it's great!
downunder Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Thanks for the tip rollerholden, Labour day is the only day I can go, so I will have to think about that one. I will be there the next day too but the park is closed. Lining up 1 hour for a Vekoma Boomerang that would be stretching it for a credit.
Rollerholden Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 ^Well if you have a SF season pass, I think you should go. Medusa, V2, and Roar are all very fun. If you're in the area, you should probably check it out.
stormrider Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 I don't remember waiting over 30 minutes for any ride at the park, except for the 3D theater. Though I'm basing this on a thursday visit last year and a visit in 2002!

Never taken it myself, but here's all the info on the ferry service to SFMW: http://www.blueandgoldfleet.com/SixFlags.htm If you get to the park at opening and knock out the low capacity Vekomas and V2 first, should be ok even on a holiday weekend.
