Hey guys,

It's been quite awhile since I ventured passed Southwestern Pennsylvania to an amusement park (last year, it was Cedar Point), so I'm picking out a few days in August to go to some distant amusement park(s). I'm wondering if you guys had some suggestions to what parks I should go to.

I was thinking about New York and doing Great Escape and Six Flags Darien Lake, but I was also thinking of going east to Knoebels, Lake Compounce, and Six Flags New England. I could possbily go south to Six Flags America, Paramount King's Dominion, and Busch Gardens. However there is the Cedar Fair infested Ohio I could always do.

So I don't know, if anybody wants to give me ideas, I'm all ears. Also, I wouldn't mind doing this trip with someone on TPR if they're interested since I'm doing this by myself. So thanks and hopefully I'll have a plan on what's happening soon.

Where have you been to before?

Here would be my ideas:

- Hold off on CP due to big new ride next year

- Hold off on PKD/SFA/BGW (due to at least one new big ride)

- Hold off on Knoebels due to new coaster next year

- What about Dorney/SFGAd/Clementon?

- SFNE/LC/SFGAd?

Anything to involve El Toro!

I've been to Kennywood, Conneaut Lake, Waldameer, Geauga Lake, Cedar Point, Hershey Park, and Busch Gardens.

I like the idea of doing SFGAdv and maybe heading north to SFNE and Lake Compounce. I was thinking Clementon, but I didn't hear any great reviews from the place so idk.

Clementon is definitely a drive by park on the way to the Jersey shore. You could fit in about a dozen laps on Tsunami (J2) in about an hour or two depending on the ride-ops. Plus it's only 14 dollars after 5 o'clock on certain nights , so it's totally worth it just to ride Tsunami and experience the log flume.

Here's another Idea for your trip

Day one Wildwood, Ocean City, Clementon

Day two SFGADV

Day Three SFNE /LC

I think that's what I'll do, thanks for the advice. Well, I just did a mapquest of my route and I was wondering if there is anything I should worry about because I know mapquest isn't 100% reliable and accurate.

I agree with Elissa... next year would be a better time to head to Ohio. Cedar Point's new coaster and (hopefully) Cedar Fair's influence on PKI should make both parks better for next year. Also, from here (southwest Ohio) you could also head south to Holiday World and/or even Dollywood (about 5 hours from PKI).

One word of caution concerning August... before you head out anywhere, check the park's websites for hours and days. From mid-August on there could be closings/dark days depending upon when schools start in the area you decide on. When PKI went to closing weekdays prior to Labor Day (about 11 years ago), we had lots of angry customers at the front gate, all of whom reminded you of Clark W. Griswold.

Depending on when you go, I'm going to say that doing SFNE and Lake Compounce in a day is going to be hard work

From everything I've heard, SFNE is at least a one-day park, especially on a crowded day [which is what I will assume you'll face in August]. If you're more for experiencing the atmosphere of a park rather than rushing in, getting the credits and moving on, then I'd try and leave myself some more time at all the parks.

It's not the quanitity of credits, but how much fun you have getting them

At least that's how I think.

Im not so sure driving through New York City is the best idea, maybe a detour around it? That is, if you have been there before or dont care to see it.
