Montu Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 I was at the park last night and noticed that BGE changed their teaser sign. I was at the park when they first put it up, so it's kinda interesting to already see it changed. Pics taken at night on a camera phone, I should have better pics today. You can make out that it now says "Our Newest Ride Opening Spring 2007." So are they not denying that its a dive machine or what?
DarkStitch626 Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 LOL. Its not that they are in denial, I guess they just don't think a coaster enthusiast can figure this stuff out in like a snap of a fingers time . It is sometimes good to change the signs out so its not always the same though. I don't know if this sounds ideal but the section of the park and such maybe its like "Riding on the wings of the Griffin" but then they have "Riding on the wings of Apollo" already so would this make sense? I mean a griffin is..a bird and half I think lion? or something like that? So would this make any sense I mean what bird was mythilogical back in the euro-days? Edit: The fastest "Falling" bird is the peruquine falcon so maybe this may be the bird for the "dropping" part of the theme? How the heck do you spell Peruguine? or is this correct? I do believe also that birds of prey were used as message sending birds during war if I am correct? The falcon though would make an awsome theme.
DarkStitch626 Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 Peregrine Falcon Thank you. Yea. Robb, it says "Dropping" and "flight" so. key facts and it shows a bird claw. So maybe its the "fastest" dropping of its kind? Hence the bird being the fastest to freefall or drop. The Peregrine falcon is the fastest freefalling and Sheikra does infact freefall. So Hmmmmm... *taps fingers on desk* Giving another thought to this it does say "Flight" so if not a bird theme maybe the biggest fastest flying or as some designs say "prone" B&M coaster? Like a bigger badder version of Tatsu flying around?
socalMAN123 Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 The new teaser looks nice though. What is up with Busch and birds? ---Brent
kenshinmac Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 I know... Its the first flying coaster with a near 90° drop angle... OMG!!! Sorry... Someone had to throw in the usual over hyped response...
DarkStitch626 Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 The new teaser looks nice though. What is up with Busch and birds?---Brent Busch has a bird education program for endangered birds. Busch gardens both have Bird enclosures I believe.
Jon Sabo Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 Good pic/post Montu! I seen another post (from another forum) as well and they were quick to point out the sign changes as well. Guess the marketing dept. realized 'like nothing else in the world' slogan was used by BGT and now BGE will devise a new slogan on their own. Or, another mystery plan to keep season pass holders intrigued over the winter months. They did it with Alpengeist and AC (and even DF). The term "Flight Menacing" is still present and that certainly is intriguing. Many rumors (on many sites lately) are reverting back towards a B&M flyer or drop tower ride. I really cannot see A-B squandering the opportunity to deviate from the B&M-DM contract that both companies agreed towards. The DM contract would essentially expire in '08 and other parks would have an opportunity to develop/theme their own DM-concept(s). I wouldn't be suprised if the Busch/B&M team really got creative with a new 'flyer' concept (inversions, etc), but also remember that BGE tends to cater towards its "family" atmosphere/image and a ride that may be too aggressive in nature may turn against the park in some aspects. I don't believe that a flyer-coaster would fit into BGE's landscape and the park generally goes "all-out" when adding their coasters lately. Can 5 acres really fit the bill (for BGE) in creating an incredible flyer for its theme/area? No. It really is a fine-balance with BGE (vs. BGT) in terms of creating a ride that appeals to all areas of thrillseekers. And, with 2 flyers already located within a certain radius (GA & NJ) around the Va. themer, it really wouldn't make sense in terms of marketing. I think (hope) management has learned its lesson(s) from the DF installation. Just a thought.

Speaking in this term, "all area of thrill seeker" is this what happened when they built Alpy' They tend to go extreme every couple of additionals. Alpy, Apollo isn't all that extreme, then you have say..DarKastle. Different area of thrill yes but Alpy was built very well in theme. I think we may see something along the lines of Tatsu and or A.I.R combined maybe? Between say 120-180ft or so? Maybe unlike Tatsu which is 170ft "tall" but it only has a 111ft drop. Which accordingly means this new ride might be 150ft and have a 140ft drop if anything. Which would make sense in aspect of thrill seeker to general public thrill ratio. *falls down and faints* god I hate big words!
ECZenith Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 Hmm, very weird considering it wasn't long ago they put the first sign up. A possibility is that it's too similar to SheiKra's layout to say "like nothing else in the world". I mean, what else can you do with a dive machine? SheiKra was awesome, I'll be pleasantly surprised if they improve the design AGAIN. Especially if the rumor of the floorless cars is true. ::drool::
coasterguy618 Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 What a boring and not interesting at all teaser.
