steel
Okay, so here's the itinerary: July 14: Drive from Chicago (initial vacation stop) to Muskegon, MIA July 15: Family event July 16: Drive to Gettysburg (ugh) July 17: Gettysburg July 18: Drive to Allentown, Dorney Park July 19: Drive to Sandusky, Cedar Point (evening) July 20: Drive to Aurora, Geagua Lake, Drive back to Sandusky July 21: Cedar Point MIA I have not been to MIA since before CF owned it, and I was only tall enough to ride Zach's Zoomer. I'm planning to hit Shivering Timbers first. Is this wise? Will I be allowed to ride Big Dipper? Any other info is awesome. Dorney Park Never been to this one before. Will I be allowed to ride any of the kiddie coasters (Little Laser, Woodstock's Express, Dragon Coaster)? Where should I sit to get the most intense ride on Talon? And on Hydra? And on Steel Force? Any other info is awesome, again. Cedar Point Last visit was in 2004. Am I allowed to ride Woodstock's Express? Should I wait until the 21st to ride Skyhawk, or should I do it right away? Again, any other info is awesome. Geauga Lake Never been here either. Will I be allowed to ride Beaver Land Mine Ride? *snicker* Any other info is awesome, as usual. Thanks for reading. Hercules
I have your back on Dorney. You will be able to ride Dragon Coaster and Woodstock. I personally like the back row, far left on Talon. Hydra it doesn't matter where you sit, the ride has not forces to speak of. I love the front row of the last car in the black train on Steel Force. It has a much smoother ride than the Red Train and the Blue train has a little rattle on it. For food, I love Center Stage fries. The park is usually pretty empty on weekdays, so you should be able to get multiple rides on everything (except Hydra because you will be bored after maybe 2 rides). There really aren't any tips from me because the park should be pretty dead. I would definately hit up Wildwater Kingdom if I were you. But overall, I wouldn't even waste the day at the park. Though, you haven't been there before, so I hope you have fun.
Carnage
Make sure to go to Dorney's waterpark, it's much better then the actual ride park. MIA you can finish very quickly. Timbers is overrated, and the park itself is only a credit stop. You should be able to ride everything. Cedar Point only Jr Gemini you won't be able to ride. CP_RULES
I know you've been to WOF so I would use your WOF instincts when at Dorney. Steel Force is nearly a carbon copy of MAMBA, and so is Talon of Patriot, sit on Steel Force and Talon the same places you love to sit on Mamba and Patriot. Also, I wouldnt expect much of any wait at any of the parks you go to (except CP of course). -Justin "I feel wierd giving advice about parks I have never been to" Seabaugh
steel
Thanks for all the help, guys. Does anyone feel like talking about Geauga Lake?
mb425
As much as I hate to say it, Geauga Lake is another credit stop. Steel Venom (If the holding brake is on), Dominator, and Big Dipper are the best rides in the park. If you haven't been on a flyer before you might also enjoy X-Flight as I did (people who have ridden B&M flyers tend to be more snobby about how the Vekoma ones ride). They do have an excellent waterpark across the lake and I do recommend spending some time there. On Raging Wolf Bobs you might enjoy your ride if they are running the black train, if it's the red/silver train you won't. On Villain be prepared for a spine adjustment- don't ride in the back. I'm not sure if you can ride Beaverland Mine Ride, I got that credit when I was 12. On Thunderhawk, I find the 3rd or 4th row to the back of the red train to be the "best" place to ride (Thunderhawk, IMO is not as bad as people always make SLC's to be, I have heard it's one of the "smoother" ones). Double Loop is actually an alright ride, I don't think it's too rough. As for the Boomerang... well, it's a boomerang.
Reality15
Timbers first is a wise choice, and if you're not there right at opening to get on it, wait until an hour after the waterpark opens.
steel
I'm fine standing in lines at all of these parks. I've got plenty of time. I'll probably be riding Dominator over and over and over and over and over... By the way, I'll be reaching my 100th coaster at Dorney Park. I'm thinking either Talon or Steel Force. ECZenith
I've got a quick comment on Hydra... I travelled over to PA to ride Hydra last year and was actually very impressed. It is true the ride isn't very forceful, but talk about a unique little B&M floorless... I got to ride 15 times on a Friday in its debut year. It was running well thanks to great operations. If anything, it's got a very unique layout and the visuals are awesome. Make sure you give this one more than one ride, and check out the front seat for the best visuals, obviously. Have fun! steel
Well, I had a great time. I got bunches and bunches of photos of CP construction. Ended up hating Talon. I'll explain that in the TR.
