^Well, nobody's saying they HAVEN'T made the normal tea cups yet. They just haven't shown them. Just like they've barely show the rollercoasters. It's clear that the rides you can clearly see in the screenshots aren't the only things they've made. Note the Flying Pagoda(?) ride hiding behind the park's main gate. If I had to guess, I'd say they made a double decker teacups ride in lieu of a double decker carousel, seeing as that would probbaly be too many polygons or whatever (The reason they didn't have on in RCT3). Or maybe they made both. Here's hoping. But I really wouldn't jump to the conclusion that they're showing us the best they've got. If anything... They still haven't shown us the coasters, They've mostly shown the heavily themed stuff, so if that means they're saving the generic looking rides and the coasters for later... These are definitely just teasers. ...A poor selection of teasers, mind you, but still. EDIT: I just noticed that the coaster's turn is banked OUTWARDS. On one hand, I'm happy they have a construction system that makes this possible, on the other had, it bugs me that the ride built here would even have something like that without being super intense. Oh well, can't expect TOO much out of a game aimed at the general public.

^Oh, I don't think that that shot is from the game, I think it was just a teaster shot made with objects from the game, the giant ferris wheel also shows up in one of the four screen shots, too, though. I'm fairly certain that as people who played the previous games and are concious enough to improve on the annoying coaster construction system, they're not gonna make the mistake of NOT having a whole bunch of generic themed rides, forcing us to create themed areas, that would be BEYOND a simcity level fuckup. Also, it just occured to me that the rocket vertical drop ride from the sci-fi screenshot is quite possibly NOT a ride, but a scenery object. That makes me hate it much less.

Here you go: I want to see a list of all the roller coasters in the game. Another question I have is will there be a "online sandbox mode"? ^Huh! Honestly that looks pretty good to me! ^^I'm right with you there, Robb. Risky - I'm getting the significant impression that that screenshot wasn' actual in-game footage, but rather a mashup of 3D models that also appear in the game.

^RCT3 had closing times too. many people didn't realize this. They're just not expressed by everyone leaving the park, but simply by the hours jumping. I don't think that people taking a long time to leave the park and then a long time to refill it back up ever morning is something I want in a game. Whre can I find this video?

Yeah, I wish that I could have had Theme Park World / Sim Theme Park's spline-based coaster building system in RollerCoaster Tycoon. The next best thing was Ultimate Ride but everything was just too stylistic. You WANT the theme park world building system?! I was giving it an example for how the spline system could go WRONG! You can't really build anything decent/realistic looking in theme park world.
-
I'm cautious about this new building system. I hope it really will be as flexible as we want it to be (I mean, Theme Park World's building system was technically splines, I guess) , but... if it is good enough to make realistic coasters with... then that would b totally awesome and already give the game much credit in my opinion.

Oh jeez, with the exception of the MASSIVE curves on the coaster track, I see absolutely nothing in that picture that I like. It looks like something outta "Theme Park World". To keep from sounding like a negative nancy, though, I really have to emphasise how excited I am about a new construction method that lets you build big, non-piece-by-piece curves like that.

^I don't think the grid went anywhere. 1) I definitely do like that there are buildings that aren't themed to what they sell. That's something I've been wanting since RCT1. 2) I really doubt they'd give up on the ability to build your own structures. That would be a catastrophic move for them. 3) I... Don't like the look of the ride on the left. It doesn't look like anything real. 4) Ungh... Three plots connected by monorail? That sounds so limited. Especially if you want to build the sort of park that wouldn't have a monorail. I'd much rather have one big plot, or at least the OPTION for it.

I want this to be good. I really do. But my expectations are fairly low at this point. As far as I'm concerned, I will be perfectly happy if what we get is RCT3 with MUCH better graphics, a better sense of scale (It took me a while to realize that something that bothered me a lot about RCT3 is that things weren't built "big" enough compared to the size of a person.) , less lag once you build many things, and not making it a nightmare to mod. (CFRs are one of the only reasons RCT3 is still being played regularly if you ask me) The trailer revealed very little. Personally it still bugged me that food shops look like the food they're selling, but. Eh. Whatcha gonna do.

Am I the only one that thinks this looks like a completely "Meh", over-simplified version of RCT2? They're not even trying to hide it... Plus from what I could tell the only slopes on the rollercoaster were 45 degrees... I get that this might be fixed later on, but... From what I'm seeing so far I really don't see what is there to look forward to instead of just firing up my copy of RCT2.

T2. In addition to the headbanging, the train bucks so badly, it constantly feels as if your car is stopping and accelerating, and stopping, and accelerating, repeatedly, over and over again. Now, the belt buckle connecting the restraints to your seat goes between your legs, so every time the car "stops" you're pushed against it hard. The result is a ride that literally hits you in the 'nads every 3 seconds. Case and point, a video of our train hitting the brakes: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/files/t2_122.wmv

^You've definitely got skills (I'm a cartoonist), but you've gotta work with a better program than paint, I think. It's making your line art very rough. The doctor is a bit strangely proportioned, but I do like the stylization of both characters, it's definitely a distinct style. That's always good!
