Theme Park hauntings and ghosts
FLIPDUDE replied to AllisonY2K's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
"Orbs"? Are you kidding? O_o that's just what dust looks like in pictures when its next to the lens. Anyhow, I have never heard or seen a hanted ride before, though I am not saying that none of the stories mentioned is true(However, many of them I can explain by some kids snooping around where they shouldn't be. I wouldn't be surprised if someone thought I was a ghost once or twice while I was walking around closed amusement parks. I bet seeing me sitting all alone in ferris wheel at the dark amusement park at the hotel in Turkey I was in could've freaked someone out if they were there at the time) Closest thing I've experienced to a haunted amusement park experience was riding Blood Falls alone at SFMM fright night. Oh, and let's not forget hotel Breakers at Cedar Point, which is also bnelieved to be haunted. When we were on the midwest trip there there was a power outage and we had tow alk around it at 2AM with flashlights. I thought we'd at least have some vague encounter with creepiness but there was nothing creepy. I may have gone into a corrdior and done a "OooOOoooOOo" sound to freak people out once but I don't think anyone heard me. Quite frnakly Im surprised the Breakers hasnt been mentioned yet. Or little a-merrik-a for that matter. Since its bordering on a graveyard. -

Hurray! Finally another waterpark enthusiast! Fantastic TR! I want to go back to the dellseven more now! I didn't know that single rider space bowl inner tube slides existed! How come theyre letting three people in the bowl at once? Tomi "I miss the smell of chlorine" Zandshtein. -

^It's not like RCT, if the negative G forces are strong enough to lift you off the slide, you would slam onto the tube's top. You'd stay int he slide but it could hurt you. -
What got you interested in coasters?
FLIPDUDE replied to thrillgeek's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I enjoy looking at coasters but not to the point where i can stare at them for hours on end without riding them. However HEARING a coaster makes me all giddy and happy. The screams and the chika-chika and whatnot is enough to get the andrenaline pumping for me. -

^Alright. I'm still not sure how possible that is but I'm not so sure it's IMpossible either. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. -

^the problem is that unless it starts like bomb bay(which the illustration doesn't show it to be) in order to get to a vertical position from the starting orizontal position you would have to go through an area of negative G forces, lifting you off of the slide. Try to build a rollercoaster in nolimits that goes vertical without pulling negative Gs and you'll see what I'm talking about. I'm pretty sure in the waterslide industry negative G forces are frowned upon, especially when such a tall fast ride is in question. Some waterslides do give a bit of airtime lifting you off the slide, but usually the airtime is so small and the slide is horizontal, so you dont lift more than a couple of inches. If the slide was vertical however, you would remain away from the slide's surface and possibly even go further from it. Also, sometimes people give themselves a really strong push at the start of the slide, which would mean more speed and more airtime. example -

^^Actualy there's such a thing as a double-deck drop tower. I'm not sure if it's one big car or two connected cars but it exists. -
Wow! I just discovered this thread. This is so cool! I had no idea she was a member of TPR, or a coaster enthusiast! I always wondered what celebrities are coaster enthusiasts(I think will pharrel might be, I'm not sure), but it's so cool to find out that this year's hottest movie-industry person is a member of TPR! I saw the interview on Letterman on TV, and I think I've seen another show she was on, too. I was thinking what a cool and interesting(in a really good way) person she is. Knowing shes a coaster enthusiast and a TPRer just makes her 5 times cooler in my book. I really wanted to see Juno, but I haven't seen my friends in forever and last time I tried to get them to see it, the person who's birthday it was decided we should all watch "I Am Legend" instead, so I'm still waiting for the next chance I get to see it! From the previews I saw everywhere and the rave reviews I keep hearing about it it should be fantastic. Tomi "shall now cease the fanboying" Zandshtein.

^Well, another way to hit 90 is if you EXPECT riders to be ejected off the slide like in my home park. but seeing as that doesn't seem like the case here, and that a slide going completely vertical halfway through is impossible, it must mean they were reffering to the start of the slide(and even then it makes little to no sense). Though, once again, the cartoon doesn't seem to show it as vertical, and cartoons tend to exaggerate, so if anything, the slide would be shown vertical in the drawing even if it weren't really vertical. -

I was born liking them. We had a small amusement park in front of our house when I was a baby and I would constantly watch a carousel of some sort from the balcony and keep saying "Cousella go up and down." even though I'm pretty sure I was too small to ride anything there. I also had a toy carousel which I loved playing with, and I rode my first rollercoaster when I was three, which was a Dragon Wagon on a skyscraper's terrace. When I was 13 years old I already had over 80 credits. -

^^You misread my post. The drawing is what makes it look like it WON'T be vertical. So by saying the drawing isn't accurate you're just reaffirming my point. It's the article that says 90 dregrees. -

90 degrees? How does that make sense, considering the start of the slides(according to the rather cartoony renders anyway) isn't vertical, and I can't see a slide going vertical halfway through the track without people being ejected from it. Even if the start IS vertical, I still don't see it making alot of sense. -
^Why do you think that is?

^That last one is actually pretty reasonable from a GP point of view. They have probably been to Knott's in the past when Windjammer was there and didnt know that Xcelerator replaced it. -
^It's not a decision. You go with what youre attracted to. Its not like you had to sign a conract at any point that says "Alright, from now on I only like such and such."

^^Well sorry, I didn't realize me wondering what some things are bothered you in any way. And yes, I do need to question these things, because that's how I learned english. And If I intend to keep talking to people who speak english I should porbably understand what they're saying, no? Even if it's a latin expression. -

^I actually think it's better to have the visual taken away. On outdoor bobleds the trains have usually run the track so many time you can see a "Track" shaped area of colorless track where the car is about to go. The trains don't tned to vary from that area much if at all. In disaster transport you know youre in a slide but you cant tell how far up youre about to go. -
1. What do you find most useful about the front page? The newest updates being at the top. You dont even have to scroll down to see the latest update. Also, the fac that hte page is built lightly and simply helps make ogod loading times. 2. What do you find least useful about the front page? All the various news categories. They're a little confusing. I only really look at the right column. 3. Is anything on the front page confusing? See answer above. 4. How far do you scroll down the front page looking for updates? Well I check the page frequently, so I dont' have to scroll down mucha t all, but I often look for hte midwest trip updates which ar ein the "old updates" page. 5. How often do you look at the front page? Several times a day, seeing as whenever I go tto the site Ig ot o the front page. 6. How often do you click on the "whatsnew" link? I didn't even realize such a link existed. 7. What would you like to see added to the front page to make your visits to TPR better? Nothing in praticular. 8. Anything else you would like to mention? Like any thing else you would like to see us add/change/leave alone/etc? Now that the fornt page has been updated I think it doesn't show enough recent updates.
