Wow dude, that looks really excellent! One of the best parks I've seen to try and look like a regular park rather than have topic-themed areas and such. Looks really excellent! -
^You need to BUY land? In a SANDBOX. Where you have UNLIMITED money? That, to begin with, is pretty daft in my opinion. Unless its like cities: skylines where you can choose to expand the park in just one direction for like 9 slots making for a really long park. EDIT - Wait I just remembered theres an option of not having ulimited money. Nevermind. Eh. doesn't matter. Game still sucked.

That... Coaster... Has pieces I've never seen in game -
Already dumped the game and got refunded. It was honestly so terrible I didn't even realize until someone asked me that I never even got around to look around at the scenery pieces. I mean, who in the WORLD makes a Rollercoaster Tycoon game that only has enough space to build ONE ROLLERCOASTER?!?! Also, you guys should see the videos people are posting at the RCTW thread over at the planet coaster forums. The bugs in the game are so horrid that it's simulatenously horribly sad and downright hilarious.

^Okay (I hope this is okay with the admins?), I'll try streaming at these two locations, if one doesn't work, try the other (I'm starting with Picarto): Picarto (Higher quality stream, but it's an art site. If I have trouble streaming there I might move to Twitch) https://picarto.tv/tomixcomics Twitch (expect lag.): Stream will start either in 40 minutes or in an hour and 40 minutes. depending on whether steam listing the game as "releasing in 1 hour" means less than 60 minutes or more than 60 minutes. See you there!

^I agree, but let's not forget, the parks' main audience is not us coaster affeciandos, it's the general public, and when it's surrounded by rides twice as big and twice as impressive, Revolution is probably not getting a whole lot of crowd attention anymore, I'd imagine. So there's three options, keep it running forever because of heritage, even though it's not pulling in the crowds and taking up a lot of space in the park, Tear it down and build something new, Or update it somehow. Seems to me like this is a pretty fair way to update it, since you don't have to put on goggles if you don't want.
-
The video is completely out of sync. At first I was worried that the VR isn't synced properly with the ride but then he said "We just went through a building!" and only after that did they go through a building. That video just isn't edited correctly, which is a shame since it does the ride a disservice.

So I used the forum search feature to see if anyone posted about this before and it would seem that this game flew under most people's radar... But RCT2 has a free online upgrade that lets you play it online with other people. Granted, if you play against random people from the internet, your park tends to look a bit clusterfuckish, because most people who play it aren't realism-obsessed coaster geeks who bother with theming and stuff like that, but... If you play with the right people it can be really interesting. (Also it's nice when you pimp out an attraction with elaborate theming and someone flatters you on it) https://openrct2.org/

^Afraid I don't have it myself, maybe it's because of the inevitable comparison to Rollercoaster Tycoon 2, but the graphics of the game bother me a lot. (Also, how steep path inclines are. Which is a strange thing to nitpick about, I realize.) I'm way more likely to buy it after they finish making campaign mode. I like sandbox and all but if a game is going to LOOK like a game, I might as well also get the challenge of one. -

While the guests' screaming isn't nearly as bad as RCT3, it still feels a bit helium-ish, doesn't it? I want guests that sound like actual people-on-rollercoasters do :\ Not voice acting for a children's cartoon episode that happens to showcase a rollercoaster. Also, I hope in the final version of the game you can put a path down through that ride, since in reality they tend to go over paths. ^Kraken, where's that screenshot from? In what I've seen in videos the steepness seems limited -

^Oh, yeah, I have no problem with the pricing of the final product, I just hate that preordering with the limited content, limited time alpha play included costs three times more than just getting the normal game that has all the features and you will have forever does. Plus, I know for me it's not a matter of picking one game over the other, since they're coming out a good 10-or-so months apart. Whether or not I buy RCTW (well, I already bought it, I guess a better phrasing would be "Whether or not I ask for a refund") depends less on how it compares to Planet Coaster and more on how I feel it can hold up in these ten months (Jury's still out on that until the game releases next week I suppose. But that's for the RCTW thread). -

Wow that scenery building video looks AMAZING, makes me really look forward to what you can do with more scenery items! Let me just pre-empt the rest of this post by saying, this may come off as a lot of negativity but that's just because all the positive stuff I have to say about the game essentialy just amount to "This looks excellent and I want to play it can you be out and complete already thanks", so I'm just left with listing the few caveats I have: I agree that paths are an issue and that Plazas are SORELY needed. Much as I think the paths system here looks way nicer than the games we've played so far, older games did at least have the benefits of letting you create plazas. If plazas dont become a thing I hope they at least add sharp cornered paths to the game. And I'd like to remind folks that "It's still in Alpha, Jeez!" is not a magical phrase, you never know what issues will be tackled and which won't. Like, okay, some stuff is more likely than others (such as water rides), but even though they said the coaster builder is unfinished and still requires more work, there's no guarentee that part of said work would include steeper construction or scalable elements. I'm hoping it does and I'm by no means saying it won't, but, yeah, it's important to voice these concerns. Continuing the train of thought from comparing coaster builders to city builders, A certain game by the name of Cities XL comes to mind, that looked RIDICULOUSLY promising before it came out, and when people brought up issues people wrote them off as "They're still working on the game, chill". And when the game finally came out it was an absolute disaster. Now, I'm not saying that's the case here, frankly, Planet Coaster ALREADY looks like the sort of game I'd love to play if you just threw a few more rides and scenery items onto it, I'm just saying you don't always know which issues are either not on their to do list or just not possible with the way the game is designed. I mean, much as I want Plazas a LOT, and think the game will suffer without them (or benefit from them, whichever phrasing you prefer), go figure if they're even possible given the way paths and guest movements are coded. I hope it is and that we will see them. Same goes for one of my biggest issues with the game - the rides that have pre-existing theming. As mentioned in the second video, while, yes, the alpha only has a handful of rides, only a small precentage of them have no theming. The sun flare ride, the flying aces ride, etc. all have built in theming that limits what you can do with them, and as of now we have absolutely no idea if this is something they plan on fixing or not. It could be they consider "sun" or "skyscraper" to be generic enough to not bother making de-themed versions of them. Personally I'm hoping for the RCT2 school of thought, where every themed ride has a non-themed version. -- On a side note, I was SO HAPPY that we finally don't have to build those annoying big clunky entrance and exit booths from previous games that I didn't notice just how big and intrusive those "ticket booth" things are! In that second video that thing sticks out like a sore thumb, as well as making the queue line lose it's shape a bit because they had to leave room for it. It seems pretty likely the final game will have different kinds of ticket booths (at least, I hope so, I don't want a huge metal sign over every tiny little kiddie ride), but I still hope that they also find some other solution that feels less intrusive. -- Also, Botanical, you really think TPS will still be better? I mean, personally I didn't even buy TPS because it just looks so dang limited, and many things about how it looks just don't sit right with me. I like what it's TRYING to do but honestly I feel like despite the fact it can do a very small set of stuff other games can't do, planet coaster still looks like it would be able to let us create a much more overall cohesive theme park. Also, I don't think de-sandboxing the game by adding money and such is a bad thing. Hell, sometimes I go back to older RCT games just to play their campaign. I get that some people are all about the sandbox (And I would be SHOCKED if PLC comes out without Sandbox mode. I really don't think that's likely) but some of us like the challenge of making a park work within the game's limits. Hell, if anything, I'd say that Cities: Skylines (the game PLC has been compared to so many times)'s biggest fault is it's eventual lack of challenge due to the fact the whole game is essentialy a big sandbox. It's important to have both a regular gameplay alongside sandbox gameplay. -
The Scariest Water Slide Ever Built

Did accidents actually happen on that ride or does it just look super unsafe? (Also, yeah, hate to be one of "Those guys" but I do already have a designated thread for that sort of thing >_> ) -

Wow, that's looking pretty great! Nice to finally see Parkitect parks starting to pop up around here, too! -
On one hand, the list of released features seems limited as hell. I mean, piece by piece customizable buildings aren't even gonna be there on release?! Whaaaaaaat?! It seems like the stuff that ISN'T on that list stands out more than the stuff that is! And 10 coaster types is nothing. On the other hand, I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt in thinking that this, in large part, is due to them spending time they were going to work on other features to fix the horrible coaster building system. Which HAS been given treatment in the form of "piece by piece" construction now being avaliable alongside the previous construction mode. Something they'd only do if they were reading and taking to mind the feedback from the beta testers. Also, they said they will release some of that other basic stuff in later, free updates. Which isn't ideal but it's certainly better than "Meh. like it or lump it." On the third hand, we don't know if they actually even TOUCHED the actual spline-based construction system, and if it hasn't been improved, I'm not sure if having piece by piece construction will really even matter. Also, no second beta weekend? Laaaame! On the fourth hand (Did somebody say Vishnu?) the whole "Listen, we know you guys might be unhappy about this so we decided to let everyone who preordered this get a refund if they want, even up to a full day after it's release" is a pretty cool and fair thing to do, which, granted, they SHOULD've done, but they by no means HAD to. So kudos to them. Even though I was itching for a refund a few posts ago, I'm gonna wait for the release day to make my final judgment on it. After all, even if it's imperfect (and lord knows it will be, I mean, no water rides? Whaaaat?), I'm still gonna need something to play until Planet Coaster comes out...
