  1. Can't see your pics, only question marks. -James Dillaman
  2. Hey, Phone pics are better than no pics. I appreciate them. Nice to hear the Texas Giant's still running well. -James "Don't let them discourage you, although if you can, buy a camera " Dillaman
  3. The light rail system was going to go from downtown to the northern suburbs, with a monorail to the airport from downtown, but it was voted down because the taxpayers didn't want to fund the astonishly expensive project. Which, as stated, is too bad. -James Dillaman
  4. Yes, but there's a handy feature that let's you know if there's been posting since you last read the thread, and before posting so called "News Flash" items, I always read the thread if there is one pertaining to the subject, or if there is no thread that I can find, use the search function just to be sure. I don't like to be rude, but if you read back just ONE page ago, this was stated by several people, and it just goes to show the poster couldn't even read a couple pages ago to realize that the screamscape article was already posted AND talked about in depth in this thread. [/rant] -James Dillaman
  5. ^ yeah, PLEASE read the thread before posting this, as it's been stated at least 4 times. James "Not trying to sound harsh, but seriously" Dillaman
  6. Good Luck, I took a greyhound bus from Ohio University to Columbus, and it about killed me, so bad!! If you take the metro in cincy, just be sure you get on the right bus. If you end up in Over-the-Rhine or Avondale, Do NOT get off the bus! James Dillaman
  7. Wow, I LOVE the track out in front of the building. That'll really add to the total ride if you ask me. It'll be great for grandparents or other non-riders, too. Disney does it right. -James Dillaman
  8. The rides on top of the Stratosphere, by far, scared me the most out of anything else I've been on. -James Dillaman
  9. You saw nothing... -James Dillaman Got It?
  10. "Tackle me now, Biatch!" that's great! -James Dillaman
  11. Yeah well, he lives across the international date line.... 4 times. -James "Goin' Back in Time!" Dillaman
  12. LoL @ Beer Flume OMG that would be a fizzy Splashdown. James "Do Not Rock the Boat! Do Not Drink the Beer" Dillaman
  13. ^^^That photo (yes photo is spelled with a "ph") looks great. Let's hope the real thing looks as good as the mock-up. This coaster is most likely going to be my first dive machine, as I have almost decided that this will be one park I have to drive to next year, with a stop at Dollywood on the way home maybe. Bravo, Busch Gardens, and thank you. -James "It could have been a kiddie coaster " Dillaman
  14. Chillin with my fiance, Julia, watching football, church either saturday night or sunday, enjoying sleeping in (Have to get up at 4 AM for my new job I just started this week!) Grillout on monday and maybe hit up PKI if I can come up with the scratch. -James "Needs PKI pics, as he never goes even though he lives less than 5 minutes away" Dillaman
  15. The train station for amtrak is at Union Center Terminal, on the west side of downtown Cincinnati off of I-75. No hotel as far as I know provides free transportation to both the station on Kings Island, which is like 25 miles north east of Cincinnati off of I-71. SoB will not be operating, as stated above, but pride night is an interesting night at the park and if you could go there, I'd recommend it. I'm straight, but I worked 2 of them, and they were actually pretty fun. I have a lot of gay friends and it doesn't bother me, and the drag show was especially funny, as none of the guys took themselves too seriously. If you can, I'd try and find someone to carpool with from Chicago, as the taxi rates will be quite high, and there are normally not taxis atKings Island, so you'll have to call for one and wait when you leave. -James Dillaman
  16. I'd just like to say that I am offended by the use of asterisks, and if you could please refrain from them, I'd appreciate it. James ";)" Dillaman Post Script: Aquatrax.
  17. Sounds like an aquatrax to me... the "most" record that this will break is the most cars in any aquatrax train. James Aquadillaman
  18. First off, just FYI, the phrase is one-trick pony, not trick pony. That out of the way, There's only a week left, so all the fanboys will be dissapointed soon enough. The most inversions or not, it'll be good. -James Dillaman EDIT: Everyone beat me to it, damn slow internet cafe connection!
  19. If they DO by chance announce something different from an aquatrax, it's in fact a cunning plan by cedar point to throw the fanboys off the scent. The REAL announcement will come in November. -James "Aquatrax" Dillaman
  20. ^I think this would be the same videos Robb has been posting links to in the TPR updates? James Dillaman
  21. You might mix some effects. With a heavier train on a given track, a given start speed should be carried a longer time, since there is more inertia to overcome given friction. This might explain why an empty train will be slower towards the end of a ride than a fully loaded one. This, in combination with weather influence may change the character and *overall average* speed experience a lot. What i'm referring to is that indeed gazillions of coaster fans still believe that a heavier train will give "faster" speeds, which is not true. Once again: given speeds are kept better then, which is a very different effect. However, you will never be able to change the laws of gravitation by "always hearing something"! Well, here's my two cents! First of all, to tell you the background: I worked as a ride op for PKI on the beast rollercoaster for 2 years. In the control room for the ride, there is a readout of the speed of the ride at 3 points: The exit of the first tunnel at the base of the first drop, the 2nd tunnel after the MCBR, and the entrance to the helix tunnels. While operating with a full train, the speed at the bottom of the first drop would be around 67-69 mph, but when operating with an empty train the speeds would only be around 58-60 mph. The same correllation is true at the MCBR (although that is more to do with the magnetic brakes having less effect on the train when it is full as it moves faster through them) and the Helix. So although I understand your physics, my experience actually shows the opposite to be true: More weight = higher speeds. -James "am prepared to hear why I'm wrong " Dillaman
  22. WTF -James "All I have to say" Dillaman
  23. Whatever it is, I think water will play some role in this attraction, whether only used for themeing or as an actual element (i.e. a splashdown), just based on the area the ride is in and weren't the pumps from WWL still in place, or have they since been dismantled? -James Dillaman
