  1. ^ Yeah, they could have gotten better for 7.5 M. This saddens me. Also, don't blame me for the newspaper's mistake I quoted my source, just didn't know the sourch was wrong. And as for Maureen, she's nice, but I still miss Jeff...
  2. More For the "unplugged" set Check out the glasses
  3. My fiancé is an aspiring artist, so she decided to take some photos while we were recording a song I had written to perform at my church. I decided to upload the photos in case there were any aspiring art critics to give feedback on my lovely aspiring artist's work. I also decided (after much prodding) to upload my song to sendspace in case anyone's interested in hearing it. (fair warning, it's a christian church, so it's a christian song... do the math) here ya go: Song URL: http://www.sendspace.com/file/8qqry7 -james dillaman My brother listening in... The "money" publicity shot Tickle those ivories.. My crappy electric Without D.P., none of this would be possible Super macro
  4. Coke may be better, but Wild Cherry Pepsi at the movie Theatres is the shizzle. -James Dillaman
  5. ^ Most magnetic brakes do not stop a train, only slow it down if I can recall correctly from most of the rides I've been on that have had them. All of them have a seperate way to keep the train in the station, etc. whether it's tires like on the rocket coasters or regular old friction trim brakes. -James Dillaman
  6. Can you say, "Huss Giant Whip?" -James Dillaman
  7. ^ add some neon, and while we're at it, how about a couple nitrious tanks for some extra boost. -James Dillaman
  8. The best person to ask would be who you heard this from, find out more about the ride, and you can probably narrow down a list from there, but as Elissa said, most ride op spiels aren't set in stone. From someone who knows, I used to change up what I'd say when driving the Beast, as you just get bored saying the same thing every time. -James Dillaman
  9. ^ Are you kidding? Laying concrete is what Cedar Fair is best at, they're in their element!! This is exciting. -James Dillaman
  10. Except of course that this is still old technology, as they aren't going to redo the ride, just moving it.
  11. I'm so glad to hear the ice show is coming back, now if they only put it back in the festhaus, it would be great. That was a great way to beat the heat on the hot summer days: Get some food and find a table to sit and watch the ice show. Maybe next year won't be such a letdown after all -james dillaman
  12. I'm coming around to this move, the more i think about it. I'm not a fan of the vekoma dutchmen, but if they do a good job installing it, which hopefully they will if they're spending $10 million on improvements and the relocation of the ride's only costing 750,000 to move. I'd love to see some landscaping, use of terrain, and maybe even some attempt at basic theming. -james dillaman
  13. Yes, I loved Sea World Ohio, but that was destroyed long before Cedar Fair took over, and is a lost cause if you ask me.
  14. ^ NO, listen to reason. X-Flight cost 15 Million dollars to build at GL. Too much money for that park, right? Agreed. Moving it and rebuilding it at King's Island costs less than 1 Million dollars. Quote: "The move from Geauga Lake, which has about 750,000 visitors a year, to Kings Island, with more than three million visitors a year, will cost about $750,000 — far below what a new coaster would cost, Kaiser said." http://www.middletownjournal.com/hp/content/oh/story/news/local/2007/02/07/pjm020807kiride.html Steel venom only cost 8.5 Million new. Moving it and reconstructing it will definitely costs under 1 million dollars, as it is not nearly the size of X-Flight. -James "OMG MiA can afford to install a cheap attraction like a relocated Steel Venom!!!!!" Dillaman
  15. ^^ It costs 8.5 Mill to develop, design and build first time around, it won't cost nearly that to move it and reconstruct it. ^ And Joe, you haven't been there, so don't judge too much, yet. I REALLY like the installation of Grand Rapids, and if they do more of that caliber construction, it'll grow. -James "wow, people don't read any posts, as I keep posting the same thing" dillaman
  16. ^^ Okay, this argument got WAY off track. I for one never said that $10 would be spent for MiA. only that STEEL VENOM MIGHT BE A GOOD FIT FOR IT! Sorry to type in all caps, but it seems as if I don't, everyone is talking about B&M this or Intamin that, and this thread is about Steel Venom. Even if it isn't constructed at MiA, they have a great field to store it in, IMO. -james " " dillaman EDIT: And Joe, i realize that, but I was just saying that if a park tries hard enough, people will go to a small park in the middle of nowhere.
  17. ^ Why keep the animals? You can't compete with the cleveland zoo if you want to see animals.
  18. ^ Yeah but a park that size will never get 1 million people, never have never.... oh wait. I guess when there are rides, people will come, even to the middle of nowhere. -james "for those who don't know, holiday world DID hit 1,000,000 last season" dillaman
  19. ^ If your trip lasts for more than 4 hours, consult a physician right away. -james dillaman
  20. ^ Yes, many times, and I think Holiday World would benefit from a good steel coaster. but you didn't read my whole post, did you? I said that's why it makes sense to MOVE steel venom to MiA, which costs less than designing and building a BRAND NEW woodie. -james dillaman
  21. cjeagle35, MiA does NOT need another wood coaster. They have 2 large wooden coasters (one good one) and a jr. woodie. They have a corkscrew, arrow mouse, and kiddie coaster for their steel collection. They definitely need a steel coaster. Have you been to the park since Grand Rapids opened? That whole area at the back of the park is very different. They spent more money on it because it's THEMED, where as none of the other attractions are. Also, Muskegon and the western lake shore of michigan see many tourists during the summer months. Lots of great camping and boating as well as other watersports on the great lakes. Most of the people I've met around here (cincinnati), know Muskegon because they've gone on camping trips there, but they never knew there was a theme park nearby. There IS an untapped market, there. It may not be as big as SFMM's, but the park is more than capable of being profitable. I do agree it needs some more food stands, but it could use a steel coaster, and even though a eurofighter might be only $3 Million, I'm sure it wouldn't cost nearly that to move Steel Venom there, which is why, using your argument, it makes more sense to MOVE a coaster to a smaller market park than put money into a brand NEW attraction at that park, don't you think? -james "just speaking from a purely business standpoint" dillaman
  22. ^ Whoa huge picture for no reason. I'd go to Kennywood, it's 4 hours to Cleveland, 4 hours to Cincinnati. Good third park if you're hitting KI and CP. -james dillaman
  23. MiA got Grand Rapids last year, which was a great and much needed addition. It isn't that they haevn't gotten anything new, just that they haven't had a new coaster in a while (8 years is a while). And I hate when people knock the park, as it is in a market that could produce. Grand Rapids, Muskegon, Holland, and other cities are all like an hour from the park or less, and many people live there. When Shivering Timbers opened, lines were long at the park. I know, because I was there 5 times that season. Any park that hasn't had a new coaster in that long will see sagging attendance, that's just common sense. And don't go saying "It's no cedar point, it's no CW, because yeah, it's a different park. All I'm saying is Steel Venom would be a good fit there. -james dillaman
  24. ^ That was my point. You can argue a case for any of those parks. I would like to see it go to MiA or GA, as I can't see them requiring a new ride based on their profits, but at the same time they ARE overdue. The other three could easily deserve a larger ride, or even a new ride concept, and PKD already has too many launched rides come to think of it. -james dillaman
  25. PKD just got IJ in 06 PCW got IJ in 05 Dorney got Hydra in 05 The others I can see your point. MIA really needs a coaster. They haven't gotten one since 1999!!! So none would be due in 2008? Bearing in mind that Hypersonic XLC is for sale at PKD, so they might be losing that, and it'll be 3 years since IJ at PCW and Hydra at Dorney. -james dillaman
