The only thing that really turns me off about the cruise vacation is all the "hidden" costs: tipping, alcoholic drinks, etc. that are not part of their advertised price. I dunno, it's just hard for me to make the jump to a 7-day cruise as opposed to 7 days in Mexico at an all-inclusive resort, for example. That being said, The zipline looked awesome from Robb and Elissa's photos, and the alpine "coaster" looks like a lot of fun. Glad you had a good time and I look forward to seeing more of your photos! Maybe if I win the lotto... which would be amazing seeing as I don't even have the funds to play it! -James Dillaman

Photo TR: Indiana has more than corn?

I have to agree that the IB Double Shot just seems a little more intense than the HW one. Although location alone gives IB the edge, with it being right on the lake! -James Dillaman -
Michigan's Adventure Help!
jamesdillaman replied to Jerrykoala2112's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Some of the greatest wavepools you will find in the country are at michigan adventure. Their wave-action is so much fun it's definitely one of the highlights. However, temps were in the 40's the other morning a little bit inland from Muskegon at Grand Rapids, so it may be a moot point. Timbers is good, but it's in need of some trackwork. Wolverine Wildcat is painful and uneventful, but looks awesome across the lake. The Grand Rapids Rapids ride is a must do, again if it's over 45F outside... They let you on the kiddy coaster, so if you want the credit, you can get it. You shouldn't need more than a half-day or so, even if you do a lot of the waterpark. If you only do one thing in the waterpark, go to the wavepools in the back (With a thrill rating of '5') as they crash into eachother and create whitecaps about six feet high. It's crazy fun. -James Dillaman -

in regards to the $1 lockboxes, I like the system in place at holiday world, where they are free but they lock with a key. You hold onto the key during the ride, and unlock your stuff when you get back to the station. It's the only park where I would feel comfortable leaving a camera or expensive cell phone in the station while I ride.... -James Dillaman

^ It's still a Fox affiliate. So Fox 11 News is correct. And to be fair, fact-checker ranks Fox News (as a network) lowest of all the cable news channels. Just saying... It's best to get your news from newspaper sources, such as the AP or other traditional journalistic sources. All the 24-hour news channels do is rereport the traditional journalists stories anyway. They rarely have their own journalists covering news events. -James Dillaman

^ Water coming out of a soda fountain (like 95% of the places at themeparks have) is filtered, so therefore completely safe. They usually don't give out water right from a faucet from the dish-washing sink for example... And also, if they added lids and straws, they'd just be adding to the pile of trash going out each and every day. -James Dillaman

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Why? Because they have a steel racing mine train they wouldn't build a racing woodie? I think it's less likely because CF likes to only run one side of all their racing woodies anyway. Personally I'd like to see a water ride because it gets mighty hot at the point during the summer... -James Dillaman -
It is in every parks best interest to keep guests sufficiently hydrated during the hot summer months. 1. People are more likely to get sick to their stomach when dehydrated. 2. News of heat exhaustion or heat stroke at a park is bad press. 3. By law you must have water available at a themepark (at least in Ohio). They don't have to offer it everywhere, but it does have to be an option. 4. Unhappy guests on hot day are more likely to leave early and not stay until closing, buying food and other souvenirs which is how the park makes most of its money. I have been to more than 40 themeparks and get free icewater at all of them. I've been denied getting it in the larger "soda" cups, but have always gotten a little cup with little to no hassle. -James Dillaman

^ Why would you want to retrack a horribly boring and badly designed ride? It's like saying "This Yugo would be great with a new suspension!" -James Dillaman -

You don't need to worry about that. The terrain and land area differences alone will make this ride very unique when compared to MF. One can only hope it's better (i.e. contains airtime, "Bizarro-style" as opposed to floating over hills like you would when driving on a country road "Millie-style"). -James Dillaman -

Kennywood will finally get a new steel coaster, and a few years later, they'll take out the inversions and reprofile everything and make it a great coaster! Sweet! I'll schedule my trip for Summer of 2016... -James Dillaman -

1. It's still closed. 2. Excepting a few people on these forums, nobody really cares. 3. Everyone wants a nice woodie built by GG or GCI to take it's place. 4. Everyone who's been on one wants an Intamin Pre-fab instead of said GG or GCI. 5. The missing logo doesn't necessarily mean the ride's being torn down. 6. The ride SHOULD be torn down 7. The dippin dots cart was closed last time I went so I have no additional info. Hope that helps. -James Dillaman -
Frankly I think it would be a smart move. Think about it: instead of a bunch of so-so rides with hit or miss operations, you'd have a decent waterpark with capital investments every year. It would be good for Louisville and really draw the waterpark crowds. Here in cincy we have the Beach, a smallish size waterpark, and the waterpark at Kings Island is small and hasn't had many improvements since the big overhaul to Boomerang Bay. They could even sell some of the decent rides or move them to other parks and rebrand them as new rides, saving the chain money and making them more profitable. I think it would be a good move. Look how well it seems to have worked out for Cedar Fair with Geauga Lake... -James Dillaman

In respect to Zach, I think you should all be patient and not fill his TR thread with more than a page of discussion about how fast it should take to post his TR... Just speaking as a friend here. He's been busy this week. He WILL get around to it, and as always his photos will be worth the wait, in my opinion. Zach, did you get to say hi to Jeff Seibert at SB? I miss that guy... -James Dillaman -
