  1. If you go to the website he mentioned, amidst the hundreds of thousands of tiny link lists there's one hiding there for EE. http://wdwmagic.com/beastly.htm for people who don't want to play the seeking game All the photos there are new to me. And sooooo awesome! Cerberus
  2. This is the question I'm interested in! I could only think of three answers to it: (1) He buys the rights or has some agreement (2) The music governing body are far more busy with Zazaa and the like (3) Robb is God, and nobody argues with God! Cerberus
  3. Best: The original layout of the Disneyland Paris 'Space Mountain' when it first opened. It never once went back on itself unless the queue was horrifically long. You had all the interesting sections to queue through including: Outside view of the lauching trains, inside tunnel with viewing windows into the ride action, view section of the themed brake section, pre-show room with video and intricate theming, raised walkway over the vast station. It was really interesting and the atmosphere in the station with all those people watching from above was awesome! Worst: Rita at Alton Towers. Recently Tussards have been doing a great job making their queues do more than just cattlepens... Then they seemed to just give up. The sight of the sprawling mass of splinter-giving fences is enough to drain the spirit from even the happiest park goer. The worst part is the oh-so-clever idea of being able to shorter/lengthen this queue by means of swivel panels throughout it's length... Except these are rarely set in sync with each other and guests are often sent around in circle or back along paths to dead-ends.. urgh Cerberus
  4. Oh, hoorah, now I can ride it! Oh no, wait.. I travelled back home, half way around the world a few weeks ago already Good news for Californian's and emptying Disney parks anyway! Cerb- I'm never going to let this go -erus
  5. Its does appear to be a bit of a wasted opportunity... ...But when it looks as creepily retarded as that, who cares!? Awesome! Cerberus
  6. Heh, I'll let you have the head-banging argument. I don't thing anyone has mastered the art of BullSh**tery enough to be able to justify that occurance The poll idea is a good one. Personally, I don't see what the fuss is all about. But apparently there are many people who would think twice before joining the queue on this coaster. So it'd be interesting to get an overview of people's thoughts. Actually, come to think of it, I don't suppose Vekoma's "Thrill Lift" is their response to people thinking "The tilt coaster isn't safe!"? Since this time around there's a tower in front of the moving track and as such, nowhere for the train to go even if everything did fail! Cerb- I want a rider-view video of Elissa freaking out on the tilting section -erus
  7. No, that was me highlighting the fact that there hasn't been an occasion where it has crashed, despite how you seem to be certain that the thing is on the brink of disaster. 'Cause you know, forget two, not even ten failsafes could make a Vekoma safe As for: Well.. okaaaay... Just because an SaS tower hasn't snapped all it's cables and plummeted to the floor, doesn't mean it never will... Just because BaMs flying coaster trains haven't unfolded during the circuit, doesn't mean it never will... Just because a Mack log flume hasn't lost a wheel and skidded to the bottom of the chute in a spray of sparks and gore, doesn't mean it never will... You could apply that comment to ANYTHING, yet you seem to be saying that this 'what if' thing only applies to Vekoma. I'm not backing up Vekoma or trying to be awkward or anything. I just think that complaints should be justified. This isn't really aimed at you solely either- but people across the entire coaster community seem to just invent more reasons to hate Vekoma simply to expand on their argument when "They are rough" isn't enough. But back to the tippy coaster thing specifically... The 'failsafe' system is (According to someone who would be in the know) like a really large, backwards antirollback that touches against the front car's bumper. It raises in the direction of travel of the train and cannot move any further forwards once in place, meaning the train cannot proceed. Therefore the weight of the train on the device would actually BE the securing factor. I assume that when in the vertical position the 'hook' is used to pull the train back a little bit more so this device can then move out the way. Cerberus
  8. But it all came too late for me. Stupid screamin'... Do you think they used the time to also fix the sound system? Cerberus
  9. What?! So just because Vekoma rides are rattly along the track, the company are also presumed to be incompetent at installing any sort of safety mechanics?! :? That's strange. I mean, I've never heard of the tilt coaster falling off too early.. Maybe I just coincidently forgot to buy my newspaper, or watch the News on those countless many days where 30 people crashed to their doom at a theme park At least stick to complaining about faults with their products that actually exist! I greatly admire Vekoma for the way they strive to come up with something new. They aren't just recycling old and tested ideas, they are constantly revising their inventions, sitting down, thinking about it some more "Okay, we've done that. Now what can we do to make something more fun?" You would never see BaM doing anything remotely innovative! Cerb- At least they understand the importance of being original! -erus
  10. Wasn't open when I went, so I can't judge what it was like to ride. But at least it looks in decent condition. I mean, all the paint is fine and it looks structurally decent. I say do SOMETHING with it, but not smash it down. Cerberus
  11. I never knew the Knex coaster kits were that versatile and cool! Darn, I'd probably have bought one if I'd known. Now they're hard to find anywhere. Since plain old models are included in the thread title here's something of mine. Cerberus
  12. Oh god... I'm.. speechless. Toilet humour and some of the most disgusting characters I've ever seen. The management at that park need to go to a psychiatrist. Great video though! Cerb- actually ducked when the camera cow butt-dived! –erus
  13. That building site looks like a complete mess!... er... In the not so obvious way as well as the fact that it is by default... I mean, there's trenches, crap EVERYWHERE, cranes, diggers, mounds of rebar, half-built houses and it looks like the whole thing is also kinda in a pit. Considering most coaster construction sites just have a crane, a flatbed a porta-john and a bunch of guys, this is looking manic. :? Also, the huge lift-hill building looks cool. But I'm going to be annoying and say I wish the idea had been used on a more exciting part of the track. Say, making the loop inside! Cerberus
  14. It hasn't even been folded out properly yet. They were probably in the middle of putting it up/taking it down and didn't put the stabilisers out yet... or put them away too soon. If I were the house owner I'd let them get away with it... At the cost of their ride, which would then be mine Cerberus
  15. I find this quite funny actually. When visiting foreign countries with vast, extravagant churches I'm always sitting there bored, tracing the walls with my eyes wondering how cool it'd be to suspend a coaster from the ancient architecture whilst everyone else just admires the windows or something I'm surprised nobody kicked up a fuss about it too! "Thou shalt not build modern, pleasurable junk in mine temple of Jeebus worship!" Mack are all going to hell! Cerberus
  16. I'm not planning a trip there or anything, so I probably don't even need to be asking this. But would it not be a good thing to do a less 'Americanised' park than a Disney one? You know, to better get the atmosphere of the country you're actually visiting? Or have Disney allowed their surroundings to influence their design of that park enough for this to not be an issue? Cerberus
  17. I'm Mr.Skeptical Judging by BaM's latest works, I'd say they are far too concerned about rider comfort and perfect precision engineering to allow themselves to produce anything as wild as their oldschool stuff like Nemesis. Theming, yes. Wild ride, I'm going to bet no Cerberus
  18. Haha, I love how you posed Elissa in front of the fat women. A blatant attempt to disguise the REAL intention of the photo taking "Hello sir. May I have my picture taken with your whale.. wife.. thing?" Cerberus
  19. Sounds like someone has a fetish You wait! Give the internet a few months- There'll be a hundred pay-per-view pRon sites dedicated to people sliding in cheese! There's an idea for an avator contest! "People who love coasters TOO much..." Cerberus
  20. Its a shame that Thorpe Park lacked the imagination to make the most of this concept like other parks are starting to do now. If you can't make it the biggest, you can certainly make up for it with a fun layout. But no, Thorpe are getting neither. Le sigh That coaster is looking great. You don't hear much about the amusement industry in Australia. Hopefully this'll be the start of a big movement for them! Cerberus
  21. Didn't they make a California Screamin' model toy thing which powered itself around the track? It looked kinda cool, but reviews on the net have said its just a stupid, plasticky baby toy. Have any of you seen the concept models that the imagineers produce? They are so awesome I would actually consider breaking into their warehouse, killing everyone there and stealing them Why don't they produce really realistic die cast display models?! Heck, there are MILLIONS of die cast diggers in the shops http://www.diecast-collectible-cars.com/lm-images/nsm55107.jpg with super detail and such. Surely there's a similar amount of demand for ride vehicles compared to silly diggers?! You don't see endless amounts of digger forums... Meh, looks like I'll have to keep building my own Cerberus
  22. That 'Giant Lever' ride looks hilarious! Like the very very old, very very steampunk version of a Fabbri Booster Great trip report. I'm probably going to be doing Spanish parks soon since we have relatives out their I can remind my parents exist and how long it has been since we last saw them Cerberus
  23. Haha, no, it's all real. Really... really Actually, I was just pissed off that we couldn't go on that rapids so I shamed the useless mechanic guy with Photoshop cruelty (I'm allowed to call him useless. He had THREE food breaks in the half an hour we watched him!) Thanks for the comments. Poor goose indeed. I might post the other parks, but they aren't really as much fun. Probably would have to add in photos of the hotel and the uber cute raccoons and stuff. Cerberus
  24. I'm not a regular by any means, but I think with two stays at the resort in separate years and plenty of time to look around whilst I was there is enough to have a fair opinion. Last year, I would have had to disagree with most everyone, since I found the place really quite good. It had a sort of borderline Disney charm. Less of that cutesy innocence and a little more edge. Which was nice. Screamin' was the clear star attraction for me. One of my favourite rides instantly. However, my second visit a few weeks ago really showed the place up. Screamin' was of course, idle. But also down were 'Golden Ze-blurgh'.. (whatever..), 'Millionaire', 'Muppets' and even 'tower of terror' was up and down more in terms of reliability than ride sequence. What does that leave? Soarin' and Grizzly River. Two... Now, what else happens when the largest ride in the park closes? Yes, all the queues it would have had are spread out amongst everything else. So, longer waits throughout! I'm really starting to think that maybe the excitement of Screamin' in the first year glazed over my impressions of the time and give me a false sense of satisfaction. Either way, I'm certainly finding myself agreeing with the crowd now. Cerberus (As I sat bored on a bench, eating lunch, a bin man walked past and asked "You guys alright?". I replied "Maybe. I wish I could ride Screamin". He said "Me too. Shame its down for routine maintenance reasons". I nodded and said "So it crashes on an annual basis then?")
  25. Oh wow, that looks stunning! Since I have a fascination with art and related techniques, I can't help but notice and love the way they've represented the snow on the mountains. So realistic with those areas of 'slipping' where it has flaked away. Is everest brown though? I would have thought it'd be more of a grey myself. But eh, still looks kickass! The last photo shows the amount of theming most other parks would put to their rides. One clump of rocks Cerberus
