  1. All I can say is... WOW! This is by far one of the most interesting coaster projects ever.
  2. I believe cheetas can excellerate to around 80 mph. So, I would assume that "0 to 60" was referencing the speed of the ride. I'm sure they picked the words for the script very carefully. Also, an extremely fast ride doesn't exactly mean a great ride, compare Revenge of the Mummy to one trick ponies like TTD and Kingda Ka, so I would wait until they release the layout before knocking the ride for it's speed.
  3. I rode it again today and things definitely make more sense now! However, the Whomping Willow was not working which made for an interesting ride experience of laying on your back looking at a stagnant tree and hearing crashing noises. I really hope they keep the effects on ride working 100%, the attraction relies on these effects to properly to tell the story. And since the story is already confusing it's not really helping anybody...
  4. So, are the movie screens on tracks? If so, that would explain why you can remain in them for as long as you do. Very interesting! This ride really does have some advanced technology.
  5. ^ Ya, it seems like 15% of the layout has already changed with the track thats been laid. There is no way they could make the rest of the layout identical to the old version. I know it isn't true, but it really looks like they are just ripping things out as they go along and saying "this seems like fun." There just doesn't seem to be any consistency with the construction other then "well, we finished the last section... now what?" However, I like how little information was released about the project. It makes these updates very exciting!
  6. Thanks for the update! This project looks better and better every time we get another look. I will surely be disappointed when the off-season rolls around and there won't be anymore close-up pictures of the progress.
  7. As a WDW Cast Member I feel like I can answer this fairly well lol. WDW is not strict whatsoever about Fastpass times. As said above Splash Mountain will probably be under its annual refurbishment when you come. As for other rides, there really isn't anything set in stone right now except for Star Tours. Wishes will definitely be returning after Summer Nightastic and it will be performing while you are here (it runs every night; the only show that doesn't is Fantasmic!). As far as Spectro. Well there are rumors afloat that it may not be returning for a while. The floats are still at WDW, but MSEP could be here for longer than the summer since it costs a high price to ship it across the country and with the addition of World of Color at DCA there really isn't any need (let alone any room) for it at this time. So, I wouldn't be suprsised if it stayed in Florida for a longer period of time. Which means no Spectro... However, this is purely speculation so take it with a grain of salt.
  8. WOW! This looks like it is going to turn out amazingly. So much for a simple re-tracking! I cannot wait to see how the final product will look.
  9. After watching those videos, I wouldn't be suprised if the leaked layout was indeed accurate. This looks like it's going to be a multi-launching, multi-inversion attraction (I see barrel-rolls/zero-g-rolls in he video ) I cannot wait to see more!
  10. ^ I know! I live by Sea World, I would have loved to attend this. Unfortunately, I'm no VIP
  11. I agree! Im surprised that a majority of the movies' stars showed up. The fireworks show was something else, I really liked the projections on the walls of the castle.
  12. I just got back from my first soft opening visit of the WWoHP. Not really too much to add, but here are some details I noticed that I haven't seen mentioned before: - In Hogsmeade, the right shop window on the 2nd floor of "instrument building" (the name has escaped me) has a paper vortex that goes off about every 10 minutes. Paper flies all over the window in vertical circles (I have no idea what this is in reference to). - In HPatFJ, inside the defense against the dark arts room portion of the queue (where Ron, Hermoine, and Harry are) they do a spell that makes it snow all over the queue. You really can't see where the snow is coming from and the effect is done very well. -As far as the actual ride is concerned, I LOVED it! I got 4 rides in today and I didn't have to wait more than 15 minutes. The queue is as superb as everyone says. IMO it truly is a revolutionary attraction. After reading reviews and seeing the poorly shot video I was worried it wouldn't meet my expectations... but it really did! The video screens are amazing in the fact that they completely surround you so and you cannot see anything else (unlike Soarin when you look down or to the sides). The rides movements are fluid, the animatronics are great (it is amazing how close you get, and the dementors are actually kind of scary) the transitions could be better but I'm not complaining. The dementor sucking your soul effect is pretty cool too! My only complaint with the ride is that the story really is hard to follow at first. the first time I rode, I recognized everything but I had no idea what was going on... The more I rode the more I enjoyed the ride and got the story. Overall I think that HPatFJ is one of the best attractions I have ever been on! 9 out of 10
  13. Well I can't give you an actual report, but I can give you some general observations of CoCo Key (I drive by the place all the time). - From the I-Drive side, it looks pretty horrible. It basically seems like a horribly painted motel 6. -From the I-4 side (which runs parellel to the actual water park) it seems descent but nothing to write home about. It gets busy, but with only a few slides and Florida's heat, that seems like a given. -None of the major attractions are covered. -The place is poorly themed, small, and it seems quicly thrown together. There is nothing compelling me to visit anytime soon (I'd probably only go if it was free...). Infact I'd much rather fork over the extra cash and go to one of the other amazing water parks Orlando has.
  14. I've volunteered here with "Kid's Night Out" a few times, and I've loved it! This really is an amazing non-profit organization. Please vote!
  15. Wow! Thanks for the video Robb! I personally have not been following this project too heavily, and had little interest in it. However, after seeing this video I am really impressed! Yes, WOC has no plot line and in all honesty I feel like it's a thrown together combination of Philharmagic, Fantasmic! (WDW), and random pixar movies. Yet, after seeing this video I am amzed by how visually stunning water and lights can be. It is truly a beautiful show! Congrats WDI! I hope it only gets better with time.
  16. The fact that Butterbeer has a happy ending potion in it makes up for the fact that it's non-alcoholic...
  17. ^ I think a lot of people will be disappointed in all honesty. Yes, it looks amazing but if you're expecting a whole new park and you only get a small land with some attractions you may have seen before, wouldn't you be disappointed? It's like thinking your gonna have sex and you end up only getting a really good massage... Not the same.
  18. So today I took a last-minute trip to Universal after I dropped my girlfriend off at the airport (and sadly I didn't bring my camera). All I have to say is that The WWoHP is looking AMAZING! It also seems like they could open it at any second! These are the things that I noticed since my last trip a few months ago: *Dragon Challenge: -Dragon Challenge is now back open from it's second refurb. The queue now leads you through the streets of Hogsmeade with the only thing blocking your view being some temporary black construction walls. There are quiet a few Crew Members throughout this section telling everyone to keep moving and not look through the walls. -The castle's entrance looks complete and the flags look really good. -You are still entering through the exit of the attraction but there is now music playing in this portion of the queue (The song "something wicked this way comes") -When you get to the portion of the queue where you "choose thy fate" there is now three banner style screens, none of which were working. The one on the left said Horntail in the top corner, the middle was blank, and I can't remember what the one on the right said. -Once you enter the station you can see it has been cleaned up and remolded (like they did to the outside of the castle) but it's not too different. The biggest difference is the tarp that acts as the celing now has a video projection all the way across making it look like it's being torn up by a dragon. The quality is really poor and the whole thing is hard too see as of now but I'm sure they'll fix this, it's pretty cool! They replaced the wooden airgates with generic metal ones (but the railings up to the gates are still wood, which looks weird) hopefully this is only temporary. The station plays the effect sounds to go along with this. It also seems as if the Crew Member uniforms had slightly changed too. -On the ride you can see the outdoor portion of the queue it looks great, with signs about the tournament. * Hogsmeade: -This looks amazing close up and you really can see a lot of it from the DD queue. The detail is superb and I'm sure it will only get better once the area opens. -There was also HP music playing in Hogsmeade and Hogwarts express is still going strong with steam and sound effects. *HPaTFJ: -Almost all of the work walls are down and you can see what I'm assuming is all of the outdoor queue. There isn't too much theming outside of some lamps but it still looks Harry Potterish. -Like Hogsmeade and DD, there is HP music playing in this queue. *Overall: -There are security and Crew Members everywhere making sure you don't see what's going on, so if you head over to IOA don't try anything sneaky. -As far as I can see all of the WWoHP looks amazing and UO has really done a great job! I can't wait to see more once it opens!
  19. Now that you mention it, it really does sound like she says "fatty."
  20. Over the past three weeks I have only seen the ride down once, and that was due to the cold weather we experienced earlier in the month, which shouldn't be coming back anytime soon. I think that you should be safe, but as Jew said make sure the ride's running while you're at city walk before you buy your ticket.
  21. Very cool PTR! It's always awesome to see behind the scenes things like this. I'm glad you had a good time and got to see what they're up to over there. Maybe one day we'll actually get a decent wooden coaster in Florida... (I'm looking at you Gravity Group). Once again great PTR!
  22. Thanks Jimmy! I really think Animal Kingdom is underrated. Once they get a few more major attractions I think more people will appreciate the park for what it is. I just wish we could have received Beastly Kingdomme... But if the Mysterious Island (replica from Tokyo DisneySea) rumors come true, who cares?! A new continent/country (Australia seems to be the most plausible rumor) and/or a Mysterious Island replica might make this my favorite Disney park.
  23. Part 2: Disney's Animal Kingdom I truly believe that Animal Kingdom is the most beautiful park in the country (that I have been to anyways). There may not be as many attractions as there are in the first three WDW parks, but it has a great atmosphere. However, the attractions DAK does have are top notch. Expedition Everest, Dinosaur (this could be much much much better, I'm still hoping that this ride will get a huge refurb that it deserves one day to put more on the level of the Indiana Jones'), Finding Nemo The Musical, Festival of The Lion King, Kilimanjaro Safaris, and the two animal walk throughs are all great Disney attractions. The latest construction projects have been real quality work, like Disney can be known for with the right funds. Finding Nemo The Musical, Expedition Everest, and Yak and Yeti Restaurant have been amazing additions to this park. DAK has so much possibility and I am very excited to see where the future leads. Anyways, I went to DAK for only an hour. I got there at 4 and the park closed at 5. So, I just got some pics to try and capture the beauty of the park as opposed to the rides I'm sure you've all seen anyways. I also stuck around for Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade, which I had never seen before. I had heard pretty negative things about the parade, but I really liked it. It's fun, a pretty good length, and creative. I put it behind Spectromagic for my favorite parade. Onto the pics: One final shot, when the people leave the birds come in. Hope you guys enjoyed! Come visit me this spring at WDW! This is what happens when a parade ends and a park closes... Such a beautiful park. How many animals can you see? Amazing park icon. A few more TOL pics. And Mickey brings in the rear. Pluto, not as awesome as Goofy, but still cool. Keep on Jamming! (Horrible pun ending now) I've never really been too much of a Donald fan... Well at least Rosie is looking better. She lost some weight! Drummer "Jamming" away. Greatest character ever! This parade is unique in another sense. There are drummers on some of the animal floats. Minnie knows how to pose though. Hi Elissa, the best rodent pic I could get. It's quiet different from the other Disney parades. here we go. It looks great though! Looks like it's almost time for the parade to start. Yet, for some reason I don't believe that the entire continent of Africa is this nice. Once again, the detail here is amazing. Africa provides the best view of Asia, who'd a figured? Africa Africa This tree now reminds me of Avatar. Animals that don't have to stay. Tree of Life. It's got some great detail. Bridge connecting Discovery Island to Asia. B-E-A-utiful There are some things that make you realize you're still in Orlando (the Mickey ears). again. How many zooz/theme parks have detail like this? And for an animal exhibit! So much detail. The tigers have a nice exhibit as well. Tigers = pure awesomeness the side of Yak and Yeti (Great food here). I think it was too cold for the monkeys to be out but they have a really cool exhibit. You gotta love Disney theming. The rest of the pics (until the parade) will focus more on the beauty of the park. Beautiful, no? EE is Disney imagineering at it's best. Do I even need to say it? (through the trees!!!) What's that I see around the corner? Only my favorite coaster at WDW. My favorite park icon besides Spaceship Earth. Welcome to the beautiful Disney's Animal Kingdom Park
  24. That would be a good idea. However, I think it would only work if the made the area from BMTR to the Scream!/Colossus area a DC comics land of some sort. This would tie all the rides together in a pretty large themed land... But then you'd have Superman, which could easily be re-themed. Speaking of which did they ever replace the Superman statue on top of the ride?
  25. Hi again everyone, it's time for another WDW update! This time around I headed over to Downtown Disney and Animal Kingdom since I didn't cover these areas in my previous Photo TR. This update will be relatively short and it may be my last as I will be working for the mouse in a few days and I will be very busy. Part 1: Downtown Disney As everyone knows DTD has really started to hit rock bottom. It's not in a poor condition or anything, there just really isn't much to do outside of the Marketplace area. The West Side is really empty (especially now that the Princess Diana thing was removed) and the low amount of crowds reflect that. Now, Pleasure Island... I can't believe that this area has been vaccant for so long without any type of improvement. I've heard the rumors of what's to come to the area and you can say I'm not impressed - at all. Please be more original! DTD really needs some unique things to attract guests. There really is no need for even more third party vendors! Please Disney! Anywho onto the pics: And finally Fulton's from Rainforest Cafe (I pulled a fast one on ya). Hope you enjoyed! Tomorrow: pictures of why I think Animal Kingdom is the most beautiful park I have ever been to. Largest Disney Store on the planet. A classic DTD photo op. Disney took Transformers from Universal too?! What will they take next? The Mummy? HRRRRRRRR? Say it isn't so... And now onto the section of DTD that looks great, Marketplace. Rainforest Cafe as seen from Fulton's. You can even take artsy pictures! Once again, it all looks nice. there's just nothing here. For all the AC fanboys. It's so lively up here! Now lets visit The Island Formely Known As Pleasure Island. I do like this, it adds a lot of atmosphere to the area and it gives people a reason to come to the West Side. The Characters In Flight Balloon was not operational due to high winds. It doesn't look bad, it's just boring... I wasn't lying when I said the west side of DTD was dead. There just really isn't much to do. Which is pretty sad considering this is the newest addition. What replaced the Princess Diana museum, you ask? Well... Some banners! Not my cup of tea, but arcades never really were my thing. All I had heard about this "interactive theme park" is that it is out-dated and in a fairly poor condition. Disney Quest. I decided to start out by trying something I'd never done before.
