  1. Looks like we're up to $24,453, so close to that $25,000 mark!!
  2. Excited by the prospect of this coaster, but disappointed that they're removing a ride with no height restriction, and a coaster with a 46" height restriction. Yes they will probably replace these with some sort of family ride, but I'm not sure it will be something the whole family can ride. They did eventually replace White Water Landing with Shoot the Chutes, but WWL had no height restriction when riding with an adult, just a restriction against lap children. They basically replaced a family ride that 3 year olds could ride, to a ride that you have to be 5-6 to ride. Yes they have Windseeker, but the whole family (even infants) could ride Space Spiral.
  3. I've seen people get turned away on US B&M hypers, but usually they were people that would have been turned away from any Intamin hyper and most B&Ms without "big boy seats".
  4. Wow. These pictures are making me really want to return to Spain, and not just because of the poster. Shambhala is one of those coasters that is just gorgeous to look at, much the same way Khan is. It really changes the look of the park. I think I may have to make a side trip to Barcelona on my trip to London next summer!
  5. Google seems like the best company ever to work for, but after I visited their offices, I kind of thought "not for me". It was weird to walk into an office where no one was talking, your work area was less than arm's length from your neighbors, and every "perk" was designed to keep you there longer. I mean if I had been offered a job there, I probably would have taken it and stayed a few years as a career booster, but it was far from the "dream job" I built it up to be in my head. BTW, I thought I had left the scene in the conference room picture behind in college. Nerds with bad grooming standards playing Magic: The Gathering. Doesn't really embody the image of "the cool place to work" they try to promote.
  6. I thought this was pretty cool. Google's Pittsburgh office has expanded into more of the building they occupy, and the new space is themed to Kennywood. There's some great pictures in this article. http://www.pittsburghmagazine.com/Pittsburgh-Magazine/March-2012/Google-Pittsburghs-New-Kennywood-Inspired-Office-Space-Will-Blow-Your-Mind
  7. Another vote for Great Adventure. While I thought Holiday World was a very nice park. I do not really see it as the perfect trifecta of wooden coasters. Raven is great, Voyage would be great if it weren't so painful. Legend has seen better days. It won't really be warm enough for the water park either, which is the other reason to go. Great Adventure on the other hand has an amazing lineup of coasters. El Toro is my #1 wood by far, and Nitro, Green Lantern, Bizarro, Batman, and Kingda Ka make it a very solid park to hit. Go EAST! Also, you can easily hit the coasters at Dorney park in a matter of 3 hours or so on that Sunday morning if you've never been. Since you said you've already been to Knoebel's. It's pretty much on your way.
  8. WTG Team TPR. Team Cedar Point just broke $1000
  9. ^That said, I'm glad Cedar Point didn't pick Mean Streak!
  10. Superman.....that didn't track very well.....at Six Flags America
  11. And Team TPR falls even further behind at Cedar Point. C'mon guys, kick it into gear!!!! http://www.firstgiving.com/gktw/CedarPoint
  12. ^LOL, Thanks Chuck! BTW, I forgot to mention that Team TPR is in the lead at every park EXCEPT Cedar Point. WAY TO GO TEAM TPR! Again let's fix that for Cedar Point. Click on my link below, or visit the Cedar Point page for Team TPR and donate there. ONLY $300 down from the top team! And I just gave another $10 to get things rolling!
  13. Hey guys, if you click here, you'll notice that Team TPR isn't in the lead at Cedar Point.....click on my link below so we can fix that
  14. I was actually impressed by the park. So much better than I had been led to believe. Employees were friendly and interacting with guests, rides were all open even though the park was dead, and Jokers Jinx and Wild One were running really well. Wild One may have been the smoothest wooden coaster I've ever been on (besides El Toro). Too bad I can't say that about all the rides though. Superman, Mind Eraser, and Roar tracked HORRIBLY......
  15. Hey all, I'm doing the event at Cedar Point, but haven't had a chance to post much here since I've been working on getting a software release out the door at work. THANKS to those who have sent donations! I'll get a profile up here with a bit more about me soon. I'm excited for this event, not so much for the coaster marathon (I'm starting to get too old to think that 8 hours on a coaster sounds AWESOME), but because it's a great chance to use one of my favorite activities to bring awareness to the amazing things GKTW is doing for families looking for a bit of an "escape". I'm in awe of the amount of support TPR has shown towards Coasting for Kids, which really makes me understand more completely why I call this forum "home"
  16. I thought the service was pretty good on Sunday when I was there. The ride ops weren't exactly "speedy" but they were polite and had good guest interaction. I do find it a bit funny that this is the first coaster in 10 years, and it's a 20 year old coaster.
  17. Here's another from this weekend from over by Roar's entrance. There seems to only be a few pieces of track on either side of the station left to go in place. I like the paint scheme! Apocalypse.....now
  18. Gah, and I realized I'm supposed to be in Ohio that weekend for a grad party. Attempting to change my registration from King's Dominion to Cedar Point.
  19. I signed up! https://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/kylemillerca/CedarPoint I used a picture of me from a TPR trip though instead of the avatar. I can get far more donations from work if my picture is on there and they know who it is. Let me know if you want me to change it to the Team TPR logo. I did join the Team TPR team! -Kyle Edit: Fixed the link to the new page!
  20. Screw getting voted out of the Magic Kingdom. I vote Adam out of LIFE. Fan Boy Fail!
  21. Hmm..... looking at the satellite view, Chang's old location would make a great location for a water park expansion. It's right next to the rest of the water park area, and lots of land. I really think that they will do well here if they don't try to change their strategy.
  22. I like the Nissan Rogue from the exterior, but as far as the drive and the interior, it was a big fail for me. Honestly, my favorite at that price point is the Hyundai Santa Fe. I had one for a week as a rental car, and it was great. It drove and handled well, had nice features, etc...
  23. Hurrakan Condor is my favorite drop tower of all time. I probably rode it like 10-12 times during our time there. I was TERRIFIED every single time too. That stand up floorless tilt is insane.
  24. LOL!!! http://apple.copydesk.org/2012/01/30/why-costa-cruises-needs-a-copy-editor-and-a-new-marketing-agency/
  25. ^^^I think that group dynamics play a HUGE part. I rode Troy 3 times, and wouldn't put it ahead of Prowler or even Renegade. But I have to look at the atmosphere when riding those two, it's probably much closer to what it was like when you guys were on Troy. I thought Troy was about the same level as Apocalypse for me (Terminator), but I rode it with a bunch of Dutch on a rainy cold summer day (2 weeks after riding Prowler and Renegade on the Mid-America trip).
