Universal Florida Help
USRoadTripper replied to Flying Unicorn's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You can use the same rationale that I used when I was in line for Top Thrill Dragster and scared out of my freakin' mind. I told myself that all I was aiming for was to be conscious, covered in vomit and sitting in a puddle of my own urine. hahaha That way...anything is better than that! If you hate it, at least you can say "But at least I'm not covered in vomit and urine!" hahaha But I agree with the people who've said "Just do it!" Coasters are extremely safe machines, so the worst that could happen is that you just don't enjoy it. The best that could happen is that you become a raving coaster lunatic like 95% of the people here At first I found Hulk to be more scary and imposing that Dueling Dragons, but now I don't even find Hulk all that exciting anymore in comparison. Be sure you report back to us once you've ridden! And Barry, if I ever meet you, I am making you eat lima beans! -Julie -
I'm allergic to the chemicals in artificial sweeteners, so I have to drink regular. Always liked regular better anyway, even before we pinpointed the allergy. -Julie

One thing I collect is wax statues you'd find in zoos and museums. Y'know, the bubble looking thing that pushes the metal plates together, squirts wax into them, then scrapes out your statue? I haven't added to the collection since 1996 though because I haven't been to any zoos or museums that have them. The other is glass flowers. -Julie

IOA - Unusual Driving Machines ride
USRoadTripper replied to JP's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I wanted to pose a question in regards to this...if the issue really is an evacuation one, what about cycle monorails? Yogi's Sky Tours at PKI is the first to come to mind. I don't recall any kind of escape route that ran along the entire circuit. So what do they do if they need to evacuate the Sky Tours? Maybe it has more to do with the size of the ride, and how much electricity powers it? I really don't know, but you would think cycle monorails and other rides of this type would have similar issues. -Julie -
Which coaster fits your personality?
USRoadTripper replied to jarmor's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm High Speed Thrill Coaster, cuz I'm a tease And I've known plenty of girls who are Disney World's Space Mountain...pretty to look at but not much going on upstairs! -Julie -
I'm coming in very late on this thread, but I shall throw in my two cents. I think overall S:RoS at SFNE has the best airtime. It's the only coaster to make me scream involuntarily! I also think Kennywood's Jackrabbit has the single most insane pop of airtime ever on it's doubledown. I was seriously a good 6 inches out of my seat as we hit that drop! I'd also agree that Thunder Run has the best air of any woodie I've ridden, with GASM coming in second. -Julie

I bet I am the farthest from my home parks...3 hours from Kentucky Kingdom, and 4 hours from Six Flags over Georgia. I'm about an hour from Beech Bend, but they are crappy and don't count. Used to be 15 minutes from Opryland. -Julie

Ok, so I lied, it *is* a random TR, and it *does* contain both Slayer and food. Tonight my friend Joey played another gig at the Basement in Nashville, and being his ever-supportive friend, I attended. I had no intentions of making this into a random TR until I started getting interesting pictures! Mmm...I had a three cheese, tomato and basil pesto panini with corn chips and what else, a pickle! It was soooooo good! Thanks for letting me be random! Hello Coco As the show ends we decided to go to Cafe Coco for some good late night eats. But first John had to make an emergency antifreeze run for his car. They Joey says "If I have to do it, you have to do it" so he got this picture of me! But his second attempt was much better! Then I say "Joey...Slayer!" His first attempt was not so great...it looks more like "Hey, my forehead itches and I've got something stuck in my teeth." So I turn to John and say "John...Slayer!" And he does this! So I see the guy after the performance and say "Hey, great show, can I take your picture?" and this is what he does!!! Immediately I am like "This HAS to be a TPR random TR!" That's a huge bottle of sake he's holding by the way. The next band to play was Hurts to Laugh. They were actually really good, and the lead singer was really funny. He seemed very proud of his Iron Maiden jean vest. Here was my attempt at being artsy fartsy Joey at the Basement. Getting tired of seeing this guy yet? Yes? Well get over it cuz you'll probably see him again

Anbody have wild/crazy talents?
USRoadTripper replied to coasterguy618's topic in Random, Random, Random
I have three. I can simultaneously write forward with my right hand and backwards with my left hand. I can quickly flip my tongue completely over, back and forth, in both directions. And I can see red/blue 3D in 3D without special glasses. -Julie -
Artistic help or ideas for a tattoo?
USRoadTripper replied to sfne2005's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, that's just clip art that I found somewhere online, but I fell in love with it. I'd been pondering wanting something Opryland related, and when I found that I thought it was perfect. My other option was a graphic that was on the side of beer steins that used to be sold at Opryland, showing the double corkscrew with the word "Opryland" hidden in the track supports. I'm still quite a ways away from getting it since they don't come that cheap. As for the second one, I was told that for each new color, they'd have to use all new equipment, and that would make the price higher. Was also told that they were too detailed to look good for very long. To make them look good for a long time, they'd have to be too big for my comfort, so I ruled that one out. The corkscrew one could easily be simplified, but the Epcot one couldn't be. Oh well, it's probably just a pipe dream anyway -Julie -
I would love to download the Toyotal commerical "The Wheel" where it shows the tire rolling through scenes of different peoples lives. I have looked and looked and have not been able to find the actual commerical available for download anywhere. I'm not looking for the song, I'm looking for a video of the commerical itsself. I'd prefer the minute long version, but the 30 second version would do also. If anyone can help me, please post it here, or PM me and I will send you an e-mail address to e-mail it to me. Thanks! -Julie

Artistic help or ideas for a tattoo?
USRoadTripper replied to sfne2005's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The first one is what I plan on getting as soon as I get the spare cash. It will be just like that only with the Opryland guitar logo really small on the front of the train, to make it Wabash Cannonball. I really don't think it's something I will grow out of, as I will always like both Opryland and coasters to one degree or another. I want it on the upper right side of my back. The second one I've wanted for years now, but have been told it would be super expensive because of all the different colors to it. Anyone recognize what it is? P.S. SFNE2005 - If you steal my idea for a tattoo, I will hunt you down and beat you! -Julie -
What is the coolest coaster name?

I have a friend who hates the word "moist." And I think "gerbil" sounds messed up! As for worst name, I vote Dick Army. -Julie -
Photo TR: San Diego Zoo and Sea World

Someone must have been offering cheap airfare from Nashville to San Diego this weekend! -Julie -
I'm a coffin bride! The white material in the front looks like coffin lining! It's a lot more kick-ass looking in person than in the photo. Post a pic of your or your kids halloween costumes here! -Julie

The show I hated to see go was Committed. It only ran for about half a season (or maybe it was a mid season replacement?) but I thought it was a great show. They overdid the black guy in the wheelchair though, which I'm sure contributed to why it's not around anymore. Ed is the other that comes to mind as a truly wonderful, entertaining show that I was so sad to see taken off the air. At least it had a happy ending! *sniff* -Julie

Yep, a lot of people around here (middle Tennessee) tend to just say Coke, then you have to specify exactly what brand name of drink you want. Like "Can you grab me a coke?" "What kind?" "Sprite is fine." I only know a few people who call it pop. I'm a soda girl myself. -Julie
