Out of curiosity does Knotts have to present their plans to the city of Buena Park any time they want to build something? I know Seaworld SD does to San Diego, that’s how all of their coasters are essentially announced. If so, wouldn’t someone have caught plans for a 300 foot coaster coming??

Yes, they ripped out a lot of backstage buildings and had it cross grand avenue to the parking lot on the other side to make it fit. If the giga/hyper is built I see them doing something similar.

Agreed the out and back to the parking lot wouldn’t harm any of the charm. And knowing Cedar fair and Knotts it won’t be a parking lot coaster like Scream at SFMM. I’m really hoping that if it does go where Mystery Lodge is they will keep the same rock waterfall entrance it currently has. It would be a bummer to lose that but if we get a giga and it has to go, ADIOS!!!

The long rumored Giga coaster seems to be back in the mix again for 2023. Is it finally time this actually happens??? Personally I don’t see it happening but I sure am praying it does. If they use the rumored space in the back where mystery lodge is and have it head out the back parking lot it shouldn’t disrupt too much of the park inside. Fingers crossed!

I just don’t understand how this happens??? Every ride I’ve ever ridden in my life someone has checked my restraint! But like someone said before how do the parents not make sure their 6 year old has a seat belt on for a big ride!! Blame on both!! Makes me sick! i saw before that Glenwood makes their patrons sign a waiver… sorry not gonna work here… neglect voids all waivers. I’d be shocked if that fancy new Guerslauer gets built now!!! What a shame!!

Will this park operate year round now or will it have a limited operating schedule like Aquatica?

I wonder if anyone will try and get their money back for season passes they bought this year considering all SEAS parks did advertise these rides opening in 2021. It’s a legitimate argument and borderline false advertisement.

I was there yesterday and it looks like most of the footers are there just waiting for concrete. It appears as though the entrance will be closer to the new cleared space near Batman as there are footers going in where the old entrance used to be for Green Lantern. Also a ton of track is now onsite as well. I wonder when they will announce it??

They announced……. Nothing!!! Hopefully this means it’s opening this year.

I’ve always found that the absolute best time to go to Knott’s is on a weekday in October. No one is there and every ride is operational because scary farm is at night!! There’s been times where I’ve done every ride 3-4 times in just a couple hours!

I don’t expect them to build another tower or anything like that but possibly reskin the existing tower, redo the entire pool area (it’s comparable to something you’d find at a Ramada Express) and create a theme. I really think they should create the theme as Ghost Town/old west to tie into the park. All pipe dream stuff but I think it would really help create the resort feel they went for 20 years ago when they built Soak City.

I saw that for 2022 Knott's will be getting their hotel renovated, which is great news because the place is kind of a dump! With $200 million being invested by Cedar Fair for 2022 and no real new rides coming I wonder how much will be put into the Knott’s hotel? Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t believe Knott’s built this hotel. I think they bought an existing one, slapped their name on it, hung pictures of their rides in the rooms and called it a day. Here’s hoping they really go all out and try to transform this into something really nice and unique and complete the Knott’s “resort.”

If that theater is torn out you actually have a decent footprint. I could see an infinity coaster squeezing in right there.

I think it looks pretty good and happy to see Six flags making big investments again. The only thing I don’t like is the MCBR. I thought B&M was getting away from that with their newer installments like Emperor at SWSD.

I’d be willing to bet a lot of money it opens in 2022 barring anything crazy like another COVID shutdown! WCR was an outlier…. All of their other coasters have always opened on time unless they’ve had mechanical issues (X and Superman).
