Due to Covid my platinum pass just expired that I originally purchased back in January of 2020. I went to renew and the way it is worded it makes it sound like I’ll be paying full price for the pass to expire at the end of 2022. Is that true? Are the passes not valid for 12 months from the purchase date? If that’s the case I won’t renew until next January which would suck!

Six Flags Over Texas (SFOT) Discussion Thread
Animal replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I see construction workers on site but it literally seems nothing has been done in 2 years. What is the deal here?? -
Anyone want to bet that Wonder Woman doesn’t open until September or later? I saw a drone construction update and the state of the construction site is appalling as we head into April. The entirety of whatever their doing in DC Universe is nothing but a dirt lot, the ride construction started and then halted completely. I just don’t get why SFMM can’t get their construction projects together. Look at fiesta Texas, Dr Diabolical is nearly finished with vertical construction!

Honestly I really hope this doesn’t happen. Living in So Cal I like having just about every major chain having a park within 1-2 hours from me. The thing that worries me the most is Knotts. The Knott’s family chose Cedar Fair specifically because they felt they would keep the charm of Knotts in tact(even picking them over Disney). For the most part they have done that (although they’ve never achieved the level of theming the Knott’s family used to). I really feel they have been on a great run the past 10 years with the park and the crowds have responded. The place is more crowded than I’ve ever seen it! If this gets done Knotts will clearly be the crown jewel of deal. By the numbers Cedar Fair bought the park in 1997 for $300million, adjusted for inflation that’s around $520million today. This was before they had Soak City as well. I’d venture to say that if Knotts were to sell by itself they could get close to $600 million for it or more. With 16 properties you can see how much stake Knotts has in this deal. With all that said, if this deal does happen let’s hope and pray the deal for the Giga has already been made! Then it will be similar to what happened when Ghostrider was already being built as Cedar Fair took over.

Well as we know Knotts did add a “dive” coaster in Hangtime. Personally I really like Hangtime and can’t wait to try Emperor so I can compare the two. At the time I thought it was a missed opportunity for Knotts not to go with B&M for their dive coaster and have it drop and have its turn around wrap around the Sky Tower. In hindsight I’m happy they didn’t because SeaWorld added their own and now we have a two different rides. The only B&M dive I have experienced was Valravyn at Cedar Point and I was a little underwhelmed. The drop was great but the rest was kinda meh to me. I’m hoping without the MCBR on Emperor it will pack a bit more of a punch after the drop!!

I was able to hit the park today for a little bit. Got some good pictures of the new eatery/brewery. I think it looks great!! They must be tearing down this old building completely to put this up. In addition I was able to marathon Montezumas Revenge for one last time. Still a great ride!!! I hope the launch stays intense!!!

People need to stop wondering about the “neighbors” I live in Orange County and Knotts is the jewell of this area. The people that bought or that live near Knotts know and expect noise. If cedar fair is ready to invest in the probably $40 million this will cost then it will happen. The city of Buena Park know they are in direct competition with Disney and Anaheim… they need this. Knotts has to invest to compete. Now I know all you will say they don’t compete with Disney but living in the area they absolutely do!! Or at least they have to make Knotts a must go to place for people traveling out of state to visit Disney/Universal. As it stands now Knotts has become a locals park only, this will make them a destination for everyone. This is going to happen!!!

To anyone that says Knott’s has no room, I have outlined all of their property. Seems like a Ton of room to grow. Anyone ever heard of parking structures??? And as I see it the only way Knott’s can expand at this point is go into the backstage and parking lot areas. I really don’t see any expendable area of the park at this point. Camp Snoopy and ghost town are untouchable. There’s no where to go in the boardwalk unless you rip out Xcelerator (not happening). So that leaves fiesta village. If you rip out Jaguar, it really doesn’t creat much space. If you rip out the small flats on the edge of the park you could maybe add a new flat. My point is, Knott’s has to keep adding new rides and experiences. With Disney, SFMM, Universal, and even Legoland and Seaworld SD constantly adding new rides Knott’s can’t just sit back and be content. I really only see them expanding outward and honestly I think it’s about time!!!

Going back to the Giga speculation, does anyone know what this building is? They finished building it just before the pandemic. It looks like a replacement building for something in the current backstage further leading me to believe they are trying to create some space back there. It’s a large barn looking building, that could be offices or storage space.
