  1. ^ No, I'm not going to deny I like Disneyland a lot! So take that for what you will--if you want to disregard my thoughts on the MK, then do so. Just my impression of the park didn't meet the expectation I set up for it (which was high). Dont forget my 72 virgins dude! I wouldn't know what to do with them, but I would have them! -Jahan
  2. I know I'm going to get suicide bombed for this, but: Floridian parks. Dont get me wrong!--I LOVED those parks and am trying to get back there ASAP! But for some reason, the internet message boards had engrained into me this idea that they were something "more", and for that reason, they were overrated. Mind you, this isn't a thread for BAD parks. Just over-rated. My thoughts from my ONE real visit there... Animal Kingdom wasn't anything what I thought it would be! Visually stunning and beautiful! But...Everest was mediocre, Kali Rapids was short and weak, the Safari was decent (but predictable...I mean, it had like 3 "oh no, we're going to fall off the bridge!" moments ), and Dinosaur made me want to cry. MGM was far less established than I imagined it would be! GOOD Tower and the coaster on one side, a weak tram ride on the other, an aging Movie Ride, and shows. I for some reason was under the impression there was more to do. Islands of Adventure was quite a letdown for me. I honestly imagined it to be the "Holy Grail" of theme parks. Combining the class of theming and thrill rides to create a totally unique expirence. But for me, the park felt somewhat stagnant. We were done after about half a day. Again, dont get me wrong--I loved it and enjoyed myself! I guess I just expected to orgasm over it or something. The Magic Kingdom was just somewhat lackluster. It felt as if the park was past it's "heyday", despite the fact that I'm sure there were 60,000+ there the day I went back. And it felt like it could use one or two more big rides. Note, Epcot, USF, BGT, and, well, Cypress Gardens weren't on the list. Just because I really didn't know what to expect from those parks. And they all either surprised me pleasantly, or in USF's case, I wasn't expecting much at all from it and ended up enjoying it! And this isn't to say the "Floridian expierence" was overrated. I loved it from start to finish! But as far as those individual parks are concerned, I REALLY was expecting "more" from them as they had been hyped up so much in my mind. -Jahan
  3. I'm a non-smoker, as I'm an asthmatic. But I am "supportive" if you will, in the sense that I dont mind it. There seems to be a growing backlash against smokers these days. They've gone from "culture" to "counter-culture". -Jahan
  4. ^^ It's actually pretty smart of them to beat the Memorial Day Weekend rush, if you ask me! -Jahan "Lolz at Robb giving disclaimers!" Makanvand
  5. Wow. I'm sorry I bothered checking this. I'm no mod, but from a purely argumentative standpoint, sarcastic, flaming, furious rant posts, and other member attacks really don't strengthen you post all that much. They actually discredit your argument and make you look quite, well--stupid. Yes it sucks that the ride is opening late. Yes it sucks that they are changing the heartline. But no matter how hard you search through your limited understanding of the matter for a blame, you aren't going to feel any better about this. Things like this happen--that's not to say that they should happen or that it makes them ok when they do, but they do. You are only stressing yourself out by choosing to argue over it. I'm not trying to parent anyone over this, but I do speak from expirence when I say: It's not worth it. In 6 months-year, nobody will even care anymore. So ultimately, it's best to just sit back, try not to steam too much, wait for word from Cedar Point, and look forward to riding whatever form of Maverick we end up getting. I know I am. -Jahan
  6. ^ Oh wow! That's a lot of those signs! Then again, I really still dont mind all that much. I mean, Disneyland litters the park with rules on Grad Nite. And since SFMM appeals to the same "rowdy-teenage" group ALL the time, littering the park with rules is probably a decent start to improving the park. Who knows--maybe in a few years if SFMM's reputation changes a bit, it wont be as necessary to have rules up there! -Jahan "Just wishful thinking!" Makanvand
  7. I'm so jealous of Kristen! I'm also so jealous of Zorro! Anyway, I hope you guys have lots of fun! Elissa, ride all the rides double, for last October, will you? Especially good tower and no-airgate Space. -Jahan
  8. There are two things wrong with this article. One, that her sentence has been shortened and she's going to be separated from the general convict population. Two, the article keeps saying "about" 23 days. Which means she could even get off the hook earlier, unfortunately. This is why people dont have faith in the system--because it isn't consitent in cases like this. And on the argument that she is a "petty tax burden upon tax-payers"...I'm pretty sure we're now paying MORE to house her in this other unit. -Jahan
  9. ^ Personally, I find that your average Johnny Rockets already HAS inflated prices. But that doesn't negate your argument. Thanks for the update! -Jahan
  10. You see Joe, this is where your PTR fails. Thanks for posting! I am in fact hungry right now! -Jahan
  11. ^ IMO, Scream is like the "Berlin Wall" of a lot of the problems with the park--a symbol for SFMM's attitude on a quality expirence. The day they get some jackhammers and begin to remove the parkinglot in favor of grass, rocks, trees, brush, etc., is the day I trust that SFMM truely does have a new mindset. -Jahan "Mr. Shapiro--rip out this parkinglot" Makanvand
  12. TPR Hoodie, undershirt, jeants, Spongebob boxers, sox, shoes.
  13. OMG...how did I miss this?! I even knew you guys were going and I missed this. /me is sad and pathetic. Anyway, great PTR Matt! Definitely is nice to see some old friends, and it's making me really look forward to the Midwest Trip! Thanks for posting! -Jahan
  14. ^ They also dont work because they aren't true boycots----you have several individuals who pumped gas for show. Anyway, gas dropped a few cents here. Of course, I personally believe that a protest like this doesn't provide instant gratification (as do most things that aren't microwaveable). Anyway, I think the biggest flaw in this particular boycott was the weak promotion. Several people I spoke to about it simply didn't even know it was going on! If people are going to want to be serious about a boycott like this, they're going to have to promote on all fronts. Not just with MySpace bulletins and forum threads. -Jahan
  15. As long as you have the actual card itself, you should be A-ok. If you renewed and recieved a voulcher or something, you'll have to first activate your card at the park you purchased through. -Jahan
  16. Wow...thank's for the PTR. I try and get up to Oregon every year, and Justin and Sandi--this PTR was like a brochure for the place! LOL. Nice to see you guys taking advantage of the natural beauty. -Jahan
  17. Psh! The REAL work starts after the editing is done! Anyway, great PTR. I have to be honest...in my sheltered ignorance, I didn't even know what this park was or had! Glad to see a PTR. It actually looks like a nice little park! Yetiball, Chip & Dale Balls, and Pigball are all going to have a freakin sweet orgy, I'm sure! -Jahan
  18. Using that argument, the word you're looking for is "supply". Actually, he can use the word demand too. They work together to affect the price (among other things). Part of why prices go up this time of year is that its getting warm and people are getting out and doing more - thus creating more demand I was referring to "your boycotting will make thousands of gas magically appear". By THAT argument, he's referring to supply. But you're right in that in reality, both supply and demand effect it. I don't think either is any better than the other, except the fact that one of which shows intelligence. I disagree. And frankly, those who say "Oh, that's stupid...it wont help at all" really aren't trying to find an "intelligent" solution, by whichever of your standards constitutes an action as "intelligent". They're just sitting back and complaining with the rest of us. nope, but it is a very stupid idea, at least in my mind because as long as stockholders are happy and politicians aren't at risk to lose their jobs, these "symbolic speech(es)" aren't going to do anything. It isn't wrong to think that way (although I personally find it to be rather cold and minus the human aspect of things. Love you Joe!). But my point still stands. This isn't about getting stockholders or polticians to change their hearts--its about getting the people themselves to believe they can change things. To believe they're apart of something larger. Because if people wanted change without believing that it could really happen, nothing is going to change. You're taking a really defeatest attitude in saying nothing can change without first "rallying the troops". History shows that it is possible. Principal? No, I don't know who wouldn't like cheaper gas. But I'd rather see these people boycotting gas actually vote. Seems like getting worked up over gas prices or following the Anna Nicole Smith saga are more popular than people actually voting. Or at least supporting means of future alternatives, which, by the way, is where a lot of these billion dollar profits are going. As far as the "I'd rather see these people boycotting gas actually vote" argument--weak. That's the same as when I said earlier "I'd like to see these people saying this is stupid, think of an intelligent alternative". Truthfully, your front is doing as much complaining as the "gas protesters" and frankly are more unproductive! As for billion dollar profits reinvesting into future alternatives? Yes, I have come to understand that BP and others have very much made strides towards alternative energy. Small ones, but they're a start. So power to them. But you cant make that generalization about all gas companys, as many are still simply choosing to ride this wave and pocket the profits. -Jahan
  19. Using that argument, the word you're looking for is "supply". Since pretty much everyone here seems to be against the idea of "boycotting for a day", I guess I'll play devils advocate by saying that there is a little something called "symbolic speech". I think this falls into that concept of voicing one's opinion in a non-verbal way. No, it isn't a function, where not buying gas one day directly leads to lower gas prices the next. However, organized symbolic speech like this is a means of getting attention for your opinions or cause. Because in my belief, nobody is really doing anything about this increase in gas prices. Why? Is it because we shed distaste for it but can still manage to go about our happy lives despite it? I dont know. But people are generally just bending over and just letting these prices screw them in the ass. I wonder what has to happen, how high do they have to get, before people decide to take action? I'm not going to say WHAT action should be taken. I dont care if you advocate drilling in Alaska, allowing more oil refineries, or funding alternate fuels or whatnot--either way, that's great. But what these people are trying to do is draw some attention, via symbol, to the idea that we have the power to do SOMETHING. Sitting on our asses isn't helping anybody but the gas executives. I think doing something is better than just saying "Oh, that's stupid...it wont help at all." ESPECIALLY for something as minor as not buying gas one day. If they were asking you to stop driving a car, then I would understand. Feel free to tell them to f-off. But to not buy gas for one day? Is that really such an inconvienence that you shoot it down immediately? I understand what a lot of you are saying and it's not wrong. I'm just dissapointed that people feel so helpless these days that some activism is very much dissapearing in this country. We're taking what's handed to us. We have a system in place to where if you dont like something, you can change it! And if you dont feel as if it's government's place to change it, that's cool too! I never said anything about just government! Government is just ONE tool. But the more and more people you get on this bandwagon of "something needs to be done", the more your chances have improved of that happening. So if a group of people think that the word can better get out through not buying gas one day, then more power to them. If you have an issue with the execution of such protest, that's fine. But I honestly dont find a flaw in the pricipal of the matter. -Jahan
  20. ^ And not having a sound system doesn't take away from the ride? If the coaster is good enough, it should be good either way. The sound is only supposed to add another "umph" to the ride. And this is freakin Japan we're talking about! Whenever the sound doesn't work over here, it's because maintenence is lazy or fixing it wasn't in the budget! You dont have those problems as much in Japan! So I personally think the ride would lack that final layer without audio. -Jahan
  21. Very cool! Thanks for the honest report! I'm so glad you guys got actual new stuff in your refurbishment! And it looks stunning, IMO. I just wish the trains got some on-board audio. Anyway, I'll say it as always, I really hope to one day make it out there! Looks great. -Jahan
  22. Do Betty Boop's eyes move?! Anyway, thanks for posting a great PTR. Very informative! -Jahan
  23. That thing doesn't let up from start to finish! Love it! Thanks for the POVs Robb! They were very "informative". I didn't realize how crazy this ride was until now! -Jahan
  24. 2) All it is is a souvineer bowl that your ice cream is served in. No, it does not provide you discounts on future ice cream purchases. Although if you have 3 people who want to split an ice cream, it's a good deal. Or if you just want that much ice cream, it's a good deal. But otherwise, I find it to be a bit pricey. 3) The difference between a single rider line at Dejavu and Riddler's, is Dejavu often has a grouper or seat-assigner. That way, he or she can assign seats and then take a single rider every time a seat comes available. This will speed up operation. At Riddler's, it's sort of just up to the single rider to find a seat for himself from the exit side of the station. Not only does this lend itself to the risk of rerides, but it doesn't really speed up operation, but it slows it down. By the time the riders find empty seats, they usually have to crawl over other guests only to find that the seat is locked. So now you have to get a ride operator's attention to contact the panel operator and finally unlock the restraint. Takes SO much time! Like I said--if there was a grouper, it would be genious. But this plan just sucks. X: No problems as far as I'm aware. Crew is still better than it was before the ride went down. Tatsu: So many reason--the crew, maintenence, and the heat are the only things I can think of. -Jahan
