T3 is not as everybody says. I have never had a problem with it. My thighs are very thick from running and just generally working on my feet all the time, and I've never felt any pain from the restraints. I've found that the pacing on this SLC is better than a lot of them. A lot of them really lose a lot of speed in the sidewinder

Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

I'm skeptical, but this would be so cool. It's just hard to get excited about another water coaster like Mammoth or Wildebeest. Granted, water parks aren't really my thing, but I still really enjoy both of them. It would just seem kind of redundant unless it was something totally different like a water coaster with saucer turns. -
I'm incredibly excited for this! It's nice to FINALLY see another theme park come to Iowa. One hundred million seems like a pretty reasonable price to me for what I'm expecting. I'm expecting maybe three roller coasters, all on the kind of cheaper end, being within about fifteen million dollars. Then I'm expecting maybe around twenty flat rides, most of them being smaller kid to family rides. I'm expecting about seventy million dollars spent on rides/shops/restaurants. The last thirty million would be spent on themeing. Building a bunch of facades isn't incredibly expensive. I wonder if Vekoma will be a big supplier for this new park. In the artwork, it looked like there was a Vekoma Waikiki Wave and there looked to be some sort of inverted coaster in the background of another piece of artwork.

I think nobody people aren't talking about the name enough. There are at least ten pages dedicated to making fun of "Crazanity" on Magic Mountain's page. -

But do people really miss it? It wasn't taken out just to take out. It was problematic right? From my understand it was a long, boring trek to the lift then just a drop? What is a typical log ride? A slow trek to a lift hill and drop. Lots of the general public miss Pilgrim’a Plunge. It was a crowd pleaser with its huge drop. I didn’t imply though that it was removed for no reasons. These new Intamin water coasters are a lot more reliable. Pilgrim’a Plunge was just a prototype. -

I don't know. That would actually be a pretty good idea I think. It's been years since they removed Pilgrim's Plunge. It's been long enough that I think people would see the replacement and think "man, I've missed that ride. I want to go out to Holiday World and try it again." It's not like they removed it, and then announced a replacement the next year. -

Maybe with the removal of the half pipe slide, it’ll be one of those hybrid bowl and half pipe sides like what Six Flags has been adding. -
I'll be heading to this park here in a couple days. I wish that I went more often considering it's only four hours away. I"ve always thought that this park was really fun and enjoyable. The water park was definitely my favorite water park that I've been to (even above Splashin' Safari). I just wish they had more flat rides. I'd love to see maybe two more family flat rides added to the park and then one more thrill ride. This park is actually surprisingly big with lots of long pathways to just one attraction. I'd love to see something like a Tilt-A-Whirl added to the space of the former Wild Than and some Flying Scooters over by The Gauntlet since it sits out at the edge of the park with only one other ride. I think it'd be cool to see them add a vertical swing of sorts in that last turn of Arkansas Twister, just to have another dry ride by the coaster. This park just has so much potential. Being in Hot Springs, it draws tourism from three major cities: Springfield, Little Rock, and Memphis. Plus, it's close enough proximity to Branson that families taking road trips sometimes will make the three hour detour to see the parks in Hot Springs.

Monsoon Lagoon sits on a small plot of land in the middle of the water park. I just don't see what could go in its place unless it's just a new water fortress. -
Does anybody have any ideas as to what will be coming to Alabama Splash Adventure for 2020? It's about that time of year that rumors start flying. I'm sure this will be a bit of a calmer year with rides and attractions, but I'd love to see a main street revitalization. Really the only food place on Main Street is the Funnel Cake Factory and there's a gift shop as well. I'd love to see an arcade area return to that front area as well another restaurant. Maybe add a coffee shop. That would definitely appeal to the younger crowd. Plus, they just removed the Wipeout course from the end of Main Street. I'd love to see something like a Mack Twist and Splash where that was. Something that is both a water attraction, but a dry park ride as well since that is the center point of the park and if you were go down the left path, you'd be at the dry rides and if you went to the right, you'd end up a Splash Island.

La Ronde Discussion Thread

Honestly, what I'd love to see with this park is a second entrance over at the tail end of where Cobra was, maybe a separate entrance for season pass holders. Then at the far end of the space have some eye catching flat ride, maybe a Zamperla Endeavor. Then I'd love to see Monster bulldozed. It is a massive coaster that takes up a lot of room that could never be RMC'd. They could use half of the space to build a GCI Woodie and use the other half for future expansion. Then I'd love to see Super Manege removed for whatever, probably Green Lantern, and then new trains on Boomerang and the SLC. I know most of that will probably never happen, but it's just a pipe dream of what I think would make people love that park. -

I honestly never even considered the idea of a Mack Power Splash! That seems like it would be perfect to go in the Pilgrim's Plunge spot. I think it would be the perfect addition to really get guests over to that newer side of the water park, especially with the eye catching half pipe slide gone. Though to be honest, I'd love to see all of the troughs ripped up and maybe turn that large area where the splash down area was into an indoor, air conditioned foam factory attraction for the Thanksgiving section with maybe a small family ride beside it and eventually a larger family flat ride. Then I'd love to see the old station building get a new façade to look more safari-esque to get turned into a new restaurant or something for the water park. Just some pipe dreams though. -
La Ronde Discussion Thread
LegendLover replied to Skyscraper's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I do enjoy La Ronde, and I always felt like the two coasters that REALLY needed to be gone from the park were Cobra and Super Manege. Both were slow and meandering coasters. I do think Green Lantern would definitely fit the park, but I do kind of wish something like a Sky Rocket II would replace the coaster, mainly so they would have a launch coaster and something that absolutely nobody would complain about. I honestly wouldn't mind Green Lantern if it actually flipped. As it is, it is a short ride that basically tilts to one side for about twenty seconds and you can MAYBE get one flip on the last turn, and due to the restraints and seats, just hanging there is very uncomfortable. If they added magnetic fins like an S&S version so you actually flip, I would actually really like the ride. Six Flags did say the ride would get new track after it was removed from Magic Mountain. Maybe it will get some fins. Either way, at least La Ronde is finally getting another coaster. -

I don't even have any idea what to think about this. On one hand, they are tearing out their old water fortress so you'd think that this would be a water park addition, but that area was smack dab in the middle of the water park so they couldn't expand outward. People keep saying that the claw marks look like a water park addition, but I don't see how. I mean, most animals with claws hate being in the water. But when I see claw marks, I think of some kind of coaster, specifically wood. I know this seems like a ludicrous idea, but I almost want to think it'll be a family sized wooden coaster from Gravity Group, maybe add it behind Holidog's Fun Town since 4th of July doesn't have a major coaster. Stupid idea, I know, but it's just hard for me to think water slide. -

Looking further into the issue of what to do with the site, the main developer that wants the site as of now is TPC-NOLA, a section of the Paidia Company that focuses on attraction design and planning. They are Louisiana based, but most of their clients are European theme park companies, their most prominent client is Merlin Entertainment. Yep, they were behind projects such as Wickerman, Oblivion, the new Colossos, and the Legoland projects. At least in creating the designs for such projects. In 2014, they were the only group to submit a bid to buy the park in time. As of 2014, they had secured 90% of the financing they would need to not only reopen the park, but to BUY the land from the city. Why does it seem like the city is so determined to just bulldoze the park when there is a reputable company that has a plan with funding to buy and reopen the park? -
If they spent twelve million dollars on Timbertown, then an indoor spinning coaster and a Sky Screamer could definitely be part of the budget. I'm unaware of the cost of Sky Screamers, but an off the shelf spinning coaster from Maurer is about six million dollars, or at least Phoenix at Adventureland was.

I'd love to see something like Owa on the site. Turn the front section of the park into a food, entertainment, and shopping area and then gate off the back part of the amusement park from about Zydeco Scream to The Jester). Build a campground and hotel on the easternmost section of the park (on that parcel east of the neighborhood that is next to the park). Add some picnic grounds and a softball/baseball field west of the park. Something like that. I'd love that. -
Dang! I didn't realize that Frontier City owned all that land! No wonder Six Flags bought the operating rights to this park. I do see them expanding the park. Like I said before, Jim Reid-Anderson loves the charm of this park, and I do too. It is a small park with smaller coasters, but I spent a whole day from 10am to 9pm at the park, and I was entertained the whole time. An Eclipse would be a smart choice! It's compact, fairly cheap, and could be marketed as a world's first. Plus, being 100ft, it would be one of the tallest rides in the park. However, none of the specifications of the Eclipse fit that 165' stat. Honestly, I wouldn't be upset if they removed Soaring Eagle. It didn't feel like it FIT the park. I'm so excited to see what becomes of the 2020 project. I fell in love with Frontier City when I first visited in 2014, and now I've gone every year since. It is a wonderful park.

Adventureland (Iowa) Discussion Thread
LegendLover replied to rbpia's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would do eight hours on Saturday to be honest. Most of the crowds head over to Adventure Bay, which I highly recommend. There are so many attractions that are worth riding. All the roller coasters are pretty great (except for Dragon) and many are worth reriding, but four out of the six coasters only run one train. There are so many flat rides and water rides worth riding, many of them are rare: their Sawmill Splash, Falling Star, Der Flinger, Lighthouse, and their Sky Ride. Storm Chaser and Space Shot are both really fun thrill rides. Adventure Bay is worth visiting, too. It's a really nice waterpark. The park overall has great charm to it. I do recommend going for eight hours. Back in 2016, I spent two days in Des Moines, and I spent all of those two days at Adventureland. -
I don't have pictures of the site (I live in Springfield and haven't gone since 2017). It's reported that the markets are seen along the back of the concert field, around the back of Winged Warriors over to the Nightmare Mine building, and then going back behind the Quick Draw building. When describing the site, it sounds rather large, but it's actually a pretty small area. Frontier City is very small. It surprises me, but not too much, that Six Flags seems to be making a big investment into the park. I mean, Jim Reid-Anderson has said that he is in love with Frontier City.

If so, I don't think it would be a Gerstlauer version. I still don't know if Six Flags would work with Gerstlauer (Tantrum was built at Darien Lake before the reacquisition). Maybe it could be something similar, but the Premier version. Something like what SeaWorld is about to put in at SeaWorld Orlando. But here's something to consider: are they going to remove the concert area and/or Diamondback. The area that has the stakes is still fairly small for a coaster, but too big to be most flat rides. I always felt like Diamondback would be the next coaster retired from the park. It is very old and fairly unreliable. The last time I went, DIamondback went down three times in a day, and it stayed down the third time.

Hmmm. If it is a coaster, I wonder what type it would be. Based on past records of starting construction, I’m not sure that it’s a flat ride. But it seems like a kind of small space for a coaster, especially if it’s 165 feet (what I think it would be based on the markings). I would think it would have to be a long, narrow coaster.

I’m hoping Screamin’ Eagle goes into that back part of Old Town as well. I love both of those Miler coasters. I rode Viking Voyage at its original home and it was my favorite coaster at that park. Even though Screamin’ Eagle was half its size, I still thought it was a blast with that double down! That Old Town section would definitely benefit from it. It seems depressing as it sits right now and hardly anybody goes over there. Both parks will definitely benefit from these additions!
