If we are doing memes now: ^^^ Dan Koch every time an amusement park/water park closes. Examples: Various kiddie rides from Gillian's Funland in 2014 Scrambler and Tilt-A-Whirl from Lakemont Park in 2018 YoYo from Lake City Amusement Park(?) in 2018 Galleon from Bowcraft in 2019 Rocket Racer from Hydro Adventures in 2021 I'm still hoping that they pick up Scandia Screamer.

Now I thought the same exact thing as you in regards to the White Water West/Proslide thing. Honestly, I really did think after Fantasy Island closed that they would pick up that Proslide Mat Racer from their waterpark. I am glad they got this Whizzard since it has more elements as well as it has more of a visual appeal. That slide from Hydro Adventures definitely still looks pretty fresh, but I wonder if they'll do any work to repaint it or anything to make it look brand-new? It doesn't feel like you see waterslides get moved around as much as coasters.

Update: Rocket Racer, the new for 2021 waterslide complex, will very likely be the Twisted Six waterslide from Hydro Adventures in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. The slide is a White Water West Whizzard Mat Racer that was first built at Hydro Adventures in 2014. Just a couple months ago, the park posted on Facebook that current ownership was looking for a new owner for the park. Kaspersetz Slide Studios on YouTube posted the promotional video for the slide with the caption that it was originally from Hydro Adventures. Earlier today, the park posted a promotional video of the slide, and one Facebook user mentioned that their husband was on the team that "went north" to disassemble the slide to bring to the park. That being said, along with this being the largest addition in the park's history, then I am willing to believe that the park is adding some other amenities around the area of Rocket Racer. It'll be fun to see what else comes to that part of the park!

Who else woke up early to catch the announcement of the new attraction? I'm not gonna post anything about the name or exactly what it is just in case an admin wants to make an official post for it, but I would just like to say that I think a lot of people will be disappointed with this announcement. It did seem rather hyped up. They've been teasing this addition for over a month, touting it as the largest addition since the park's opening, and what came just seems a bit.... small. Not a roller coaster, not a thrill ride, and not a water coaster. At least this does open up the park to a new area of expansion. Plus it will be a fun, family-thrill slide and it will probably keep guests in the park for at least half an hour longer since it does have that reridability factor. Not to mention that it is bold of them to be doing any investing in the park when there is so much uncertainity right now.

Personally, what I have always wanted to see at this park is a huge water fortress that features multiple large body slides, kinda like the one at Cowabunga Bay Utah. The current water fortress they have is old and small. A new, larger fortress in that corner of that park would give that area a nice anchor attraction that could keep guests busy for a long period of time. Plus they could convert the old queue for the log flume into some cabanas for people to watch their families from. In the place where the former water fortress was, they could build a new bar with a covered patio and such. Profits on alcohol-selling locations at theme parks are crazy, and putting one right in that high-traffic area could be beneficial to the park. All that being said, it probably won't happen, and I'm willing to bet that this'll be a water coaster, which will no doubt be fun!

The park just confirmed via their most recent post that the new addition will be an addition onto the waterpark. At first, I was a little disappointed, but this will be great for the park! I don't feel like the addition will be long and slender like the box, rather I feel like the box is supposed to show the general area that the attraction will go in. I feel like this addition either has to be a water coaster or a massive slide complex since it will be the largest addition in park history. Personally, I hope it is a large waterslide complex. I don't necessarily hope that it is a drop box slide complex since the park already has a straight-down speed slide, so I think there are some more gaps to fill before another large thrill slide is added. I'd like to see a complex like the ProSlide one at Beech Bend that has a bowl slide, a small wall slide, a tantrum slide, as wall as one with saucer turns. It makes sense that a waterslide would be the addition for 2021 since, as of right now, the waterpark is still the main draw. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw an off year in 2022, and then a roller coaster in 2023. I'm still thinking that the former site of Buzzsaw Falls will be the location of the park's next coaster, and I'm still thinking it will be a Hydrus-style Eurofighter.

As a coaster enthusiast, I would prefer the Gale Force-style coaster just since it feels more unique and different, but either would fit perfectly at the park! The closest Sky Rocket II to Alabama Adventure is Tigris at Busch Gardens. I think that this new coaster will finally start bringing more crowds from the water park to the dry park. Plus it will overall just start making the park feel more well-rounded with two major coasters, four adult family rides, and then plenty of small rides for the children.

Theme Park Predictions just released a pretty fun video talking about what they could be adding. Something fun that he pointed out is that on the same day that Alabama Adventure released that teaser, Premier Rides sent out a post that had two large objects wrapped up under a tarp with the caption "Who doesn't love a mystery?" I think they'll be getting a Sky Rocket II. It definitely would look imposing on the skyline.

That's a good point. Do we know the price range on those? I just figured that would be too expensive. Plus I thought that they might be turned off of an Intamin due to the higher maintenance costs. But yeah I'd love to see something like Sandy's Blasting Bronco, though I've heard that it has a nasty rattle.

It is also important to note that an S&S Triple Launch coaster also fits within those specs. I do believe that it will be a coaster. It is no surprise that as of right now, the waterpark side is the more popular side of the park. It would be nice to see them add something substantial to the dry side to really attract more crowds over to that side of the park. Plus it'll be nice to see that kinda abandoned-looking area of the park cleaned up for this new addition. Whether it is a triple launch coaster (I really hope it is a Gale Force-style coaster), or an S&S Free Spin, or a Raptor from RMC, it will look impressive whenever guests get to that plaza and see the new coaster peek out of the trees like what the Ferris Wheel did when it was still there. If it isn't a roller coaster, I could see it being a taller water coaster similar to Massiv at Schlitterbahn.

A few notes: so the waterpark is already a staple attraction that has been there since 2001. Since 2001, they have been planning the project and started picking up rides a small handful of years ago. They announced that the park would open in 2022, and that plan is still in place as the park owners have said that they have already invested enough money into the project that they will follow through with the 2022 opening. A few notes about the rides: Kanonen is confirmed. Cobra is not yet confirmed, but photos of the coaster being refurbished were posted to the CoasterForce thread about this park, and it is being refurbished by the same company that did the Kanonen refurbish. The old Cobra trains have been put up for sale, so it is all but confirmed that the coaster will be at the park, but not the old trains. I know the coaster selection doesn't seem that incredible for a brand-new park, but there will be plenty of amazing flat rides with top-notch themeing. There will be a Zamperla Backlash set next to a man-made volcano that houses a dark ride. There will also be a Zamperla Discovery (currently unkown if it is a giant discovery or regular), a Gerstlauer Sky Fly, a Zamperla drop tower, as well as a large log flume and splash battle. It looks like it will be a very asthetically pleasing park once it opens, so it should be worth a visit. I live around ten hours away, so I'll be sure to visit it when it opens.

Alabama Adventure has been saying that they have a big announcement for later this week. I don't know about you guys, but I feel like they are about to add a new ride or slide, or maybe both. Maybe they picked up a couple flats from either Kennywood, Lake Compounce, or Idlewild. I could totally see them getting the Wipeout from Lake Compounce. It would definitely look great being set in the center of the plaza at the end of Main Street. Note: I don't know how heavily impacted the park was due to COVID. They did postpone their opening by a week (since they normally don't open until early Summer), but I didn't know how attendance levels may have dropped or not.
-
Wow. It's been a while since anybody has posted in this thread. A great flyover has been posted of recent construction with the frames for multiple buildings already having been built! Plus you can see the footers for Kanonen going in! Plus Kanonen itself in what will be the parking lot. I get more and more excited for this project with each drone flight that this person posts, and he seems to be posting flyovers every other week now.

Adventureland (Iowa) Discussion Thread
LegendLover replied to rbpia's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I mean whenever Adventureland makes an addition, it seems like they are willing to spend a little extra to make sure it is a quality addition, like how they invested a extra into Monster to get that wicked lighting package and whenever they invested in the themeing around Phoenix, which is actually pretty good! I feel like they would invest in having those extra magnetic fins to get some more flipping. -

Is it just me, but does this look like a smaller 4D Free Spin? Like it definitely doesn't have the short brake run before the drop into the station, but with how the supports are set up, it almost looks like it will only have one hill after the drop off the lift and before the raven drop. I could be wrong though. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
LegendLover replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hey all! I just finished with my first day at Cedar Point! Well, I'm not going to lie, I loved the coasters (that were open), but I wasn't overall a huge fan of a lot of aspects about the park. I'll get back to that a little later. It was my first time going to the park with Steel Vengeance, and I loved the ride! I thought it was gonna feel like a bit MORE, but I still loved it! I just felt like the airtime was gonna be a lot more violent like Storm Chaser. The airtime just felt a bit weaker, but there was a lot of it. It's so hard to determine what my favorite coaster in the park is. Its probably a three-way tie between Maverick, Steel Vengeance, and Millennium Force. Millennium Force might actually be my favorite. I mentioned above that I love the coasters of Cedar Point, but am not a fan of a lot of aspects about the park. So, the first time I went to Cedar Point was in 2017 and it was on a overcast day at the beginning of the season; today, was a sunny day with a no clouds covering the sun. WHY IS THERE SUCH A LACK OF SHADE IN THE PARK???? So I'm ginger, and I layer on the sunscreen like NO OTHER. I was still sunburnt by noon. I think the main reason for that is that a lot of the midways in the park are so wide with NO SHADE. Millennium's queue is especially awful. Speaking of that, the line for access passes was half an hour long and it was all on that unshaded midway. The line was shorter than the line at Maverick, but it moved at half the speed. I wanted to get more rerides, but I saw the lines stretching into those unshaded cattle pens on a lot of rides, and I was just like "nope, not today." I love Cedar Point, I just don't have as much of a good time there as at other parks because of the lack of shade. I just wish the cattle pens were under a permanent roof or under those shade structures that they have over part of some of the queues. Speaking of the access passes, I kinda wasn't a huge fan of the system that they used for the access passes. When I was at Kings Island yesterday, they were able to pass out the passes like crazy so that people weren't lined up on the pathways; Kings Island was busy, but the line was never longer than ten people for the access pass. All of the access pass lines stretched through the park. They were quick with Steel Vengeance, fairly quick with Maverick, but slow with Millennium. I wish that the system was an online reservation you could make. Or, since you have to make a reservation to get into the park (either as a passholder or as a hotel guest, which I was), I wish that they gave you a time that you can get on the three big coasters, if you do choose so. It was just kinda annoying to wait forty minutes for an access pass, and then wait another hour to ride after you have your pass. I had a good time today there's no doubt about that, it was just kinda annoying at times. -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
LegendLover replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I went to Kings Island today. Funny enough, three years ago on this day was my first visit to Kings Island. I've gone a few times now, making it my most visited out of state amusement park. I decided today that it's my favorite Cedar Fair park; there's something special about it with its grand entrance and all the towering coasters surrounding the Eiffel Tower at the center of the park. Plus you can really tell they put a lot of thought and effort to make sure new rides look great, which is extremely evident with new coasters like Banshee, Mystic Timbers, and Orion. It's just such a nice looking park and it has some of my favorite coasters in the chain. I splurged on the Fastlane and I am so glad that I did. I rode all the major coasters in the park by noon. Not only that, I got in twenty rides on Orion. Oh my LORD I LOVE THIS RIDE!!!! I think people are being so hard on it. People want to complain about what the ride doesn't have rather than what it does have. What it does have is amazing. I truly felt like I was flying while riding it. It was so smooth and it was so fast. Plus the themeing was actually pretty fun. I don't know specifically what it was that I loved about the ride, but I just couldn't stop riding it. It's definitely my favorite ride at the park now. As of 2020, my top five ranking of the coasters at Kings Island is as follows: 1. Orion 2. Mystic Timbers 3. Diamondback 4. The Beast 5. Banshee or The Racer. -

Thank you for the review! And that you guys for telling me more about the Fastlane Plus dealio. I’ve never gotten one before, and I just figured I could splurge just in case lines are long. The lines at my home park, Silver Dollar City have been absolutely terrible with them running one train on all their coasters so I’m nervous something like that will happen since it’s a Monday. -

I just bought a Fastlane Plus pass for my visit on Monday. I've never used one before. Do they usually trim down the wait time that much? -
Welp, I just went to SDC today, and it was my first time going for the season. I got there shortly after opening. Lowkey, the masks aren't as bad as I thought they'd be. I mean I've been wearing one to work, but I thought it would be worse at SDC. The park was actually pretty empty today with the preferred lot only being about a quarter of the way full. You wouldn't think it was not busy from the lines. The line for Time Traveler was all the way out of the queue building. Granted, they have the switchbacks shut off so that you essentially do two loops around the edge of the building before getting to the loading deck. Though the line wasn't as long as most summer days, it was an hour long wait. They only ran one train all day. Outlaw Run had a wait that was not even to the switchbacks, and it was about a half hour long wait, mainly because it seemed like the train was having trouble. The ride ops would push the lapbars down, then the guy at the operation board would say to recheck car four and car six (those ones seemed to be having the most trouble), and that meant that the trains would be dispatched about every four minutes. I tried for Mystic River Falls, but apparently it had only taken guests for about thirty minutes before going down. I checked back throughout the day and it hadn't reopened. Looks like it'll be a blast though. Even with empty boats, it would really crash into some of those waves and it would start spinning pretty good! It is also worth mentioning that you do have to wear a mask on the rides. SDC said on Facebook that masks could be taken off during the ride. I took mine off on Time Traveler and the ops told me that I had to wear it on the ride. I wanted to stow it away just so it didn't by chance fall off. The masks I got were from Etsy and it took me three weeks to get them, plus they are all so cute! I actually saw a mask go flying on Outlaw Run. I had a good day, it just overall seemed pretty quiet and it seemed like so many people there were just kinda bummed out. Somebody in my group mentioned that it seemed like everybody there was a season pass holder that was just trying to get their money's worth out of the season pass rather than have fun. Lol

Hello all. The past year and a half has been one of immense change for Marineland, both in the park and behind the scenes. As many of you may have known, John Holer, the original owner of Marineland passed away at the start of 2019. After his passing, it was unclear what the future would hold for the park with his family taking over operations of the park. Well it seems like his family is dedicated to the future of the park and ensuring that it will survive and thrive in the future. Last year, Marie Holer (John Holer's wife) hired a theme park analyst to assist in growth planning for the park. She also formed a partnership with what she describes in a letter to guests as "a well respected, accredited, international organization that is dedicated to the welfare and conservation of aquatic species to help Marineland enhance our in-park teaching and educational focused programming." That letter can be found on the park's website. With a new focus being shifted from entertainment from live animal performances, the park constructed a three million dollar, heavily themed splash pad named "Polar Splash" for the 2019 season. For the 2020 season, the park has announced that it will be adding three new attractions. The details on one of those attractions has been announced by the park, and it is a brand-new magellanic penguins exhibit, occupying a formerly empty exhibit in the park's Aquarium Dome. That expansion alone cost three million dollars. While the two new rides for the 2020 season have yet to be announced by the park, it is all but confirmed by park sources that the two new rides will be a Zierer Star Shape and a kiddie drop tower. The former will replace Topple Tower and the latter will replace Space Avenger. A separate post will be made when they are officially announced by the park via their social media platforms and their website.

Here's a pretty cool aerial video of the park as of 2020. Has anybody been able to visit the park since it reopened last week? This video makes me miss the park and I've decided I'll probably make the drive down there in July probably. I hope this year is a successful one for the park. I feel like the park was about to make another large investment for the 2021 season before all this happened. There have been a few posts now where people have asked if the park is adding any new rides for the 2021 season, and the park has responded with "maybe ; )." Honestly, I'd love to see them add a mat racer to the water park and a drop tower to the dry park.
