  1. Not completely. It's still very possible but considering they have been working on it this season, It would be very impractical for them to do that just to have it close and be converted. I am literally SO TIRED of people who say this without doing their research. Remember Medusa at Six Flags Mexico? Remember how Rocky Mountain came in and put topper track on it for the 2012 season? Remember how the very next year Six Flags announced that it would be closed to be converted? No? Shocker. Seriously. There's absolutely precedent for doing work on a ride before you convert it. Just because it could get RMC'ed in 2017 doesn't mean that they're going to let it fall to pieces up until then. You all know literally nothing about what Six Flags is planning, stop pretending like you're wiretapping eight conference calls a day. Now, back to ignoring the forums until speculation season is over...
  2. I just don't understand how the El Toro crew and the Bizarro crew exist at the same park. I can understand putting your best crews on your most popular rides, but there's no excuse for how bad the Bizarro crew is. Unless it's a directive from their bosses to give the appearance of a line at this point, there's no reason those kids should have jobs.
  3. Okay, nobody can argue that Dominator doesn't rattle in the corkscrews. It used to be a hell of a lot worse, but it's still there no matter what train you ride. It's the only part of the ride where it happens, oddly, but it's very noticeable. Just like that kink in the loop that nobody knows the origin of.
  4. Your #1 steel would like a word with you.
  5. ^I always do the same. I love sitting in the front row and watching a train peel away. And the people on the second train always seem like they get way more nervous - once you start moving forward, everybody knows what's coming.
  6. Dominator is up there, too. It's one of the few floorless coasters that doesn't follow the loop-dive loop-barrel roll-cobra roll-corkscrew-corkscrew model. Hair Raiser is another solid example, if you're looking for a unique layout.
  7. You're seriously kidding me if you're comparing Maverick to Hurler's layout. Exactly. People bitch about the Kings Dominion thread like no other, but the people bitching are hardly helping.
  8. Nothing preventing that at all! My point was just that if you're going to have to build half of your new ride's structure anyway, why restrict yourself to a flat oval layout in the first place? Not that it's RMC's choice, of course, but you've gotta admit - you could get a way cooler RMC if you bulldozed Hurler and started fresh.
  9. Oh sure, that I'll give you. But if I get the choice (as posed) between an Hurler-sized Goliath or a brand new ride, I'd almost definitely choose the new ride. Especially if that ride is an RMC. Especially especially if we can get that giant moonshine stand from the CP thread.
  10. The one positive thing that I don't think anyone can deny is how great the views will be from these towers. Just like Mach Tower at BGW, the ground drops off right next to this spot - the tallest tower is only 190 feet tall, but if you sit on the river side it's at least going to feel a lot higher. That being said, S&S towers are some of the weakest of the bunch - I think I'm mostly just disappointed that this is going to be Hershey's drop tower for years to come.
  11. Totally new, no question. I don't even care what the ride is, Hurler's layout doesn't lend itself to a conversion at all. Time after time enthusiasts declare with great authority that a layout doesn't lend itself to an RMC conversion (does Colossus ring a bell? What about Twisted Twins?) and time after time they're wrong. I'll take the RMC conversion. Twisted Twins had an actual layout. Twisted Colossus' layout is the most uninspired thing I've seen RMC put out (well, tied with Goliath) so I don't really see that as evidence that Colossus lent itself well to a conversion - the saving grace of that ride is that it duels (sometimes), which clearly Hurler doesn't and won't be doing. Hurler is five airtime hills and three completely flat turns. Short of building entirely new structures, it will remain that way but with some funky banking and a barrel roll or two. And if you're going to have to make every hill and turn taller anyway, why bother? Colossus had its height going for it, at least. Hurler barely leaves what, 30 feet off the ground after the first turn?
  12. Totally new, no question. I don't even care what the ride is, Hurler's layout doesn't lend itself to a conversion at all.
  13. Just bringing this nugget of truth over to this page.
  14. Meh...I think that this one is pretty lame compared to Thunder Canyon at CP or Dorney, Roman Rapids, or (of course) Popeye and Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges. I have always enjoyed the interactive concept of these rides because you almost always ride with strangers. When you get splashed in the rapids section and someone laughs at you and talks smack and then gets the REAL waterfalls dumped on them at the end...that's when it's just a riot. The past couple of rides we took on KD's rapids ride, it seemed like they had any waterfalls turned off despite it being like 90 degrees. One or two people got splashed hitting the small rapids and that was about it. I think I may have had a few minuscule amounts of water splashed on my shirt and I was actually ready to get wet. Popeye's is just in a league of its own. Absolutely amazing. Thunder Canyon is also great, but I actually don't like Roman Rapids much at all. One long line of waterfalls only soaking two people is such a lame way to end a ride! When you rode Kings Dominion's, were the geysers not on? The waterfalls at the end are hit-or-miss (seems to depend on the season), but I've never ridden it in the summer without the geysers - including last weekend.
  15. Yeah, count me in for the Kraken praise. That 0-G is one of the best out there, without a doubt.
  16. I would assume that would be impractical due to the terrain. Mike Rowe would be proud.
  17. Is it already time for my monthly praise for Green Lantern??
  18. As did Medusa down in Mexico, and I believe that was even the same season that it closed for its conversion. I definitely don't think they're doing the RMC conversion this year, but Six Flags has proven that small touch-ups aren't necessarily proof that something bigger isn't coming.
  19. They could very well be offering it at a discount to the park as a way to get the first one built, in the hopes that other parks will see/ride it and buy one for themselves. Like the S&S plant or Europa Park in a sense.
