Walt Disney World Epcot Discussion Thread
King_K. replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Love that Disney's always embracing the culinary niche that Epcot's become. -
Alright, just got back from the parks today and let me tell you. Completely new ride. To answer some questions.. -Yes, the falling bridge effect is working perfectly now. -Stan Lee appears three times. -The ride went down about 4 to 5 times for extended periods at some points. -The wait was at 130 minutes at 6:35 -The old water effect holes on Spidey's hand in the facade have been covered. -There's a great new color changing LED light that bathes the entrance area. Gorgeous at night. Got to ride it six times today and it was amazing even with getting stuck on it twice. Got to ride Spiderman backwards which was interesting. Our Scoop stopped moving in the HobGoblin scene and we basically did the whole ride from the opposite of the usual perspective. Also got to experience a silent version of the ride during one of the breakdowns. It was pretty hilarious. They gave re-rides and re-admission passes by the handfuls though. The ride itself looks like it did on opening day. Fresh paint everywhere. The ride itself is fantastic and feels longer cause of the new actions and scene effects. All the villains really got a heavy dose of kickass. The best scene is going to go to the Doc Ock brick wall scene. The struggle between the scoop and his tentacles is really amazing with tires squealing and huge jerking motions. The biggest change is the audio. Its so clear and crisp. The finale scene is incredibly more believable now. Especially with the new teetering off the edge of the building effect. Its honestly amazing. Really really amazing. Spiderman returns to the throne as best Theme Park attraction at any park. Oh, and two other things. Keep an eye out for all THREE Stan Lee's and a huge thank you to Universal for setting up social media tables right across from the attraction. They took our picture with a great professional camera and instantly uploaded it to their facebook page. Not only that, but they had six laptops set up and set to facebook ready for you to log in and upload/tag the pictures they just took for you. All free of charge. Great use of social media and really classy way of giving something extra to the guests at the park.

TPR Facebook Page Cover Photo Contest
King_K. replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I wanted to keep it really simple and to the point. I almost put a picture of a Carrabbas but ended up using one of the media day photos from i305. Or as mentioned, sans logo. -

Twister: Ride It Out
King_K. replied to Dunsmore's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't know about everyone else, but I love Twister. Anything with Bill Paxton gets my seal of approval. -
Just reverberating the thoughts opinions that have already been echoed, but I personally still don't think that's i'll overpass the potter-mania still going on with the Wizarding World. It has a much smaller fanbase and a much smaller level of appeal and draw for everyone, in my own opinion of course. It'll be a great addition to Animal Kingdom, especially since they never received Beastly Kingdomme, but I don't think it'll topple Potter. I can see it make attendance skyrocket for a while, but the moment Universal decides to expand Potter then it's all eyes back to Islands of Adventure.

You've obviously never been to Orlando's HHN before, have you? I personally haven't but one of my best friends has been many times and I get the same thing from him every year. The event itself is awesome... the detail is better than you will find anywhere and the atmosphere is better... BUT(this is the big thing) he said that the mazes in Hollywood are scarier as a whole. I understand it is AWESOME to have such a HUGE event and I realize how much creativity goes into making 8 unique houses and scarezones and I applaud them for that. But Horror Nights Hollywood made a HUGE leap this year with Alice Cooper and La Lorena... both at least semi original concepts as they don't necessarily follow a specific film allowing John to try some new things. Lastly I have seen footage from HHN Orlando 2008 from inside a few of the houses and while the actors are doing a good job jumping out that seems to be kind of all they do. At HHN Hollywood last year for example Jason ran out of his hiding area and charges at you with his machete... he doesn't just pop out but instead interacts with the "audience" and it is this regard that our event seems "better." That is not saying if someone offered me a ticket I wouldn't jump on the next plane to Orlando ASAP... but based on observation and from what I have heard it seems to me that HHN Hollywood offers better "scare for your buck"... but lacks the space to pull of an event as impressive as HHN Orlando. There might be opinions from friends and horribly shot shakycam videos of the houses, but don't knock the event on this side of the states till you've tried it. Having tried both events these past years, HHN Orlando still brings alot more scares out of the past years I've gone. Hollywood is doing a fantastic job, and Murdy is a great director of creative over there, but I haven't really seen it come to the caliber and scale of Orlando. (and I don't just mean in sets and scale-wise)

The current speculation on houses this year: Parade - Columbus/shipwreck house, relates to the loose cannon game, and also relates to the Orange card. Sprung 1 - Demon House, relates to Certain Rune game, and also relates to green card. Sprung 2 - Poe house, relates to the the don't judge a book game, and the dark blue card Jaws queue - Saws and Steam, relates to the machine game, and the red card. Disaster queue - TV/Late Night Horror/holidays house, relates to the channel surfing game, and the Sienna colored card. SS 22 - Deals with the cemetery/Lady Hawthorne house, the key game, and the light blue card. SS 23 - The Thing, Friend or Foe (Shadow People), Light Purple card. SS - 23 - relates to WWI house, most likely deals with vampire nurses, the incoming game, and the purple card

Dania Beach Hurricane Declares Bankruptcy
King_K. replied to digidoc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm glad I got to ride it 22 times in a row before it closed. But yeah, the coaster never had a line and was always deserted. It eventually had to go bankrupt. What surprised me is the DBH wasn't owned by Boomers. It was a great coaster, one of my favorites of all time. Here's a few pics I have of it last time I went.
