  1. These pics and videos ALMOST make me want to go back to Italy. I was talking with another friend who mentioned that this park has a lot of operations problems, so I guess it's not surprising that several of the rides were down when you were there. Has anyone reading this thread been to the park on a day where all the attractions were open? I really dig the theming of the park, though! Do they have a fastpass/lo-q kind of service?
  2. Great videos of my hometown fair! What brought you to Hamburg? Did you get the chance to go to any of the nice Christmas Markets? Do they have something like that in Denmark, too?
  3. Thanks, Simon! A little bit of tourism, a little bit of history and culture, all rolled into one great photo trip report I made it to the Christmas market here in Hamburg for the first time this year last night, (met some friends in Ottensen). Do you always take a trip to Berlin for the Markets there, or were you visiting Berlin for a different reason and went to the Markets as a "bonus"? Also, one more question: Is there still the sledding hill set up at Potsdamer Platz? (Rodeln Piste)
  4. Well, it's sort of a "first come first serve" type of thing, and if it gets really crowded, you have to be quick... or ready to use your elbows! You buy a ticket or a token at each rides booth and then take your place around the ride and just wait until you see a free car. Once you get in the car, a ride-op will come around and collect tickets/tokens while they are locking you in. Most of the coasters and dark rides have a sort of cue before the station, but basically all of the flat rides do not. Everyone just sort of stands around and waits their turn, and somehow it all works out. I must admit though, for someone who is not used to that system, it takes a while to get used to!
  5. I haven't made it out to the Winterdom yet because it's just been too cold for me! Thanks for posting the pictures, and I wanted to note that Olympia Looping is running the "short trains", due the cold weather, I'm assuming?
  6. I forgot about Atlantica Supersplash! That is definitely taller than the bathtub boobies log flume at Tripsdrill.
  7. Wow, this is really cool! I wonder if it will travel to different cities, or if it is a permanent installation?
  8. This is awesome news! I'm really curious to see what kind of flume it is. The new advertisement says "Germany's tallest, steepest, and fastest water ride!" How are they going to fit that in that little space??? I think the "Boobies Flume" ride at Tripsdrill is probably the highest in Germany at the moment and in my head, I don't feel like the structure at Klotten was taller than that... but my mind plays tricks on me. What does anyone else think? It also says that it will only have 4 boats and a capacity of 390 ppl/hr? That makes me think it will be more like a splash boat ride and less like a log-flume. Regardless, it's awesome that they are finally finishing it up!
  9. He made it all into the bag, so it's not like it would have been any extra work for them at all. He just needed to simply throw the bag in the trash... or dump the contents down the toilet. It was like they were punishing him for being a bad boy and throwing up on a plane. Truly, it almost seemed like they were bullying him. I'd like to exclaim "I'm never flying Delta again!", but it was €432 for a round trip from Hamburg to MSP, which is an unbeatable price. I guess you get what you pay for as far as service goes!
  10. I witnessed it from two different attendants. Why would it not be allowed that he throw it away in the lav? Or in the big trash bag at the end?
  11. Hi everyone. I witnessed something on my Delta flight from MSP to Amsterdam today that was quite unbelievable and I wanted to ask if this is somehow "standard practice", or if anyone has any insight into the situation. Upon take-off, the guy sitting in front of me filled up his airsickness bag. Poor guy He as pretty cute, too Anyways, as soon as the seatbelt sign was turned off, he got up to go throw the bag away in the bathroom, but was intercepted by a flight attendant who told... no... COMMANDED him to take it right back to his seat because he was not allowed to dispose of it on the airplane. They kept a careful watch on him and the poor thing was forced to stare at a bag of his own puke for the rest of the 8 hour flight. It gets better: Towards the end of the flight when they were coming down the aisle with big trash bags held open for anyone to throw any extra trash inside, he tried to put it in, and the flight attendant acted absolutely disgusted and made him TAKE IT BACK OUT OF THE TRASH! WHY? Is this some kind of aviation rule, or where they just being rude to him? I still can't believe the whole incident!
  12. Thanks for the videos and links. Am I the only one who is consistently disappointed with the quality of the live shows at DLP? I mean, compared to like the Christmas Parade and Christmas Castle Show in Florida?
  13. Fixed that for me. More Corona then Bud-light (but both at every family party) sounds like this will be a hit out on the West Coast (which is mostly Booze Cruises that sell anyway, right?) with the Latino crowd. In other news, I'm so fudging excited for my first cruise (AND it's NOT on Carnival) in 11 days! Tell us about your cruise!
  14. Beat me to it! If they had ice rinks on their ships, do you suppose the shows would be produced by Tonja Harding?
  15. Hey Disney fans! We will be doing Disney for a week in November and I'm trying to come up with a new "concept" for some videos for my youtube channel. There are already tons of "guide" and "showcase" videos, so I thought I would try something new: Secrets and Scandals? The only problem is, even though I was a CM in the MK in '95, I can't think of many! If you are a CM or a Disney expert and can think of interesting things I can report about that the G.P. would never expect or be surprised to know about, please post your ideas here! For instance, I was thinking of showing how the show building of the Haunted Mansion is all underground behind the actual "house". I just need more things like that, and especially for the other 3 parks, (AK, Epcot, and Studios). I am grateful for any ideas!
  16. Wow, I wish I had a friend with some extra DVC points laying around! I also think that spending a ton of money on a hotel room with a view is really quite a waste, unless there is something really special about the view and you plan on spending A LOT of time in the room. The only vacation where I think I spend less time in my room than while at Disney is while cruising, and that is saying something!
  17. First of all, thank you all SO MUCH for taking the time to read my blabber and then write well thought out, logical responses. I really, really appreciate it! In a strange twist of events, Markus just got a surprise "10 Year Bonus" from his production company this afternoon, (kerching!!!), afterwhich he came home and exclaimed that he doesn't care how much money we spend now, so let's go to Disney, stay in the Animal Kingdom Lodge, and pig out with our free dining plan at Food & Wine. Can't argue with that! I'm psyched. After reading all your advice, though, I think that sometime around this time of year next year, we will probably head to Orlando again for another "everything but Disney" trip, and then maybe spend a day in the Magic Kingdom to see the new Fantasyland. Thanks again! PS. We booked a "normal" room at the AKL, (a Savanna view is just ridiculously expensive, even if it's not my money!). We have eaten at Jiko and Boma before and will most likely again, but does the AKL have any other hidden special things that we can explore? OH, and has anyone ever experienced getting a Savanna view even without having booked it?
  18. OK, so we are planning a trip to Orlando Oct. 31 - Nov. 4. We have the flights already, (we'll be in MN first, so we not flying all the way to Orlando from Germany for 4 nights, just to clear that up ), now we are just trying to decide what to do. Here are my two possible itineraries. Just Disney Staying at the Caribbean Beach It's Food & Wine Festival, so that is a bonus too, and we would have the free Dining Plan. €991 Total. Sea World, Aquatica, Busch Gardens Staying at the Hilton Grand at Seaworld We would have the "Dining" plan for counter service for 3 days, (once at each park). We would also have a rental car. €593 Total. Before I make a list of pros and cons, let me mention that, after almost a year of waiting, Youtube has finally accepted me into the full "Monetization Program", which is like one step before the Partner Program. I can now choose to put ads on all my videos, which brings in a tiny bit of extra money every month. Of course, the more videos I make, the more clicks I get, the more money. Oh, and just in advance, we did 4 days of Universal and HHN last year, so we're done with that for now. That said, here we go: Just Disney Pros The total price is higher but, because we have the full dining plan, (except for a t-shirt and a few glasses of wine), I think we will most likely not spend much MORE money than that. Food and Wine Festival! We love Disney and I know we will have a great time! Free Magical Express, not rental car stress necessary. Disney videos are really popular on Youtube and get lots of clicks. Just Disney Cons I feel like we should wait until next year when the new Fantasyland is ready. In general, there is nothing "new" for us at Disney. I already have quite a few Disney videos and would have to come up with some new "concept" to make something interesting again, (but I do like a challenge...) Sea World etc. Pros We have never been to Seaworld or Aquatica, and haven't been to Busch since Cheetah Hunt or the new Gwazi trains, so lots of new credits. The Hilton Grand looks Posh! We would have a rental car for more freedom when we want to do "non-park" stuff. It would be a lot of new material for my "Very unOfficial Guide" video series, which is good. Sea World etc. Cons Well, it's not Disney. No Food and Wine Festival As far as I can tell, all the parks close at 6, which is a short day and would mean eating dinner outside of the parks, which means spending more money. Gas expenses. If it's raining, we're screwed because all 3 parks are mostly "outdoors", with very few dark rides or indoor attractions. So, those are my thoughts. Part of me says, "Hands down, just go to Disney!", but another part says "Morgan, you still have never been to Seaworld, Cheetah Hunt looks awesome, and it is probably cheaper!" And now I just can't deciiiiiiiiiideeeeeeee! I would be grateful for anyone's input, advice, or anti OCD medication.
  19. Personally, I noticed the ads a while ago and I thought, "Well it's about time!". I can't believe we've had the luxury of TPR ad-free for all these years when you consider how ad-saturated many other theme park sights are! Really, it doesn't bother me at all and I bet a lot of people don't even notice. While I don't think anyone in this thread is complaining, persay, I always find it suprising when people mouth off about something they get for free, (like Facebook). I like to compare it to free samples at the grocery store. How stupid would you sound if you got a free sample of a cookie, and then went on a huge rant because your free cookie had nuts in it, and you were expecting raisins. "How dare you change the free raisin cookies to free nut cookies! I've been putting up with sh+t from this store for long enough and I've had it! I'm never coming back here again!". Yet people do that all. the. time. on the net.
  20. Doesn't the tower shake and bend a little bit when the Superman cars are launched up it? How is that going to work?
  21. On my youtube channel, I have a POV of Splash Mountain at WDW. Like, the entire thing from beginning to end. Someone just asked in the comments: "How long is this ride"? I wrote back "Well, let's see... (reading description, checking length of video)... looks like it's about 10 minutes." They answered "HAHAHAHA. And are the drops big?" Seriously. Why doesn't she just watch the damn video??? I don't get it? I haven't answered her yet. If anyone wants to go and reply first, feel free!
  22. I know it's awful of me, but I was WISHING they would fall into the water while I was filming! Not because I like to see people get hurt, but just because I wanted to see their reaction and see what the result would be.
  23. Yes! Me too. Totally. Thanks for the great trip report!
  24. OMG! Total idiots... somehow also a really cool idea... but I am not condoning it!
