  1. From our own experience: Full day at Knoebel's. We only could squeeze it in on a trip from Niagara Falls to NYC. We're still regretting it. We only could spend some hours on a full sunday in July and were only able to do roughly ten rides and could only eat one time. Both was waaaaay to less. Our plan for the future (whenever it will be): Drive there the evening before our visit, eat there dinner (and a dessert), do some rides in the night, go to hotel, spend a wohle day from open to close, go to hotel, do "breakfast" there and hit some less rides, head up to Hershey.
  2. I think some may take it more serious than I meant it! We just were at the mall with our ten month old son an let him ride it. Once he was on, we discussed if this counts as his first (powered) coaster or not. And soon we had the point, up from which elevation change, up from which size an up from which speed it could be truly called a coaster, because the design of a locomotive with wagons on rails is found on many coasters and especially on powered ones (Mack's Enzians). And soon after, we thought who would knew better than this community! I think I'll go with Andrew and increase Paul's count to four!
  3. So you understand why we came to this question!?
  4. We just got this in our local mall in Kaiserslautern. Sarah and me wondered if it's a powered coaster or a flat ride. Discuss! Flat ride? Powered Coaster?
  5. As one of my best friends is moving to Orlando in summer, this thing can't be happening soon enough for me
  6. ^ I can second that. We paid around 1,600 $ for three nights Breakers Lakeview Room, three and a half days in the park, one day Fast Lane, All Day Dining Passes for all days. All of that for two persons, so ~800 $ per Person. We would never pay that here in Germany, but for our "One In A Decade Stay" it was worth the convenience. While booking, we thought it was a ripoff and we were concerned that we will be underwhelmed by what we will be getting for this money. But in the end, we are sure that we will never stay off site whenever we will be back. It just depends on what you are searching. If we were there multiple times a year, we wouldn't pay that every time. But as said, on our next stay we'll be back there again for sure, even if that means we'll have to delay it one year to save for the amount of money needed.
  7. Thanks!! And sadly only one day... Our schedule doesn't allow for any more time there. But you best believe we will be there from open to close!! Do you alread know when you will be over here? And are you planning for other parks?
  8. Yeah, I figured out that I-90 was the Interstate we used to dreive from Cedar Point to Niagara Falls. Perhaps it was wrong in my mind because of my secret desire to do the Ravine Flyer II, which we couldn't do due to time issues..
  9. Corrected, thank you. I must have had it memorized wrong.
  10. We stayed at the Super 8 Danville off of I-80 and it was super worth it. We came close to 10 pm without booking. Staff was extremely friendly, also with helping finding a place for food, and the room was comfortable and clean. You'll have a 10 to 15 minute ride to Knoebel's.
  11. Nope, haven't heard of them yet, but that will have changed soon!
  12. So.. I just read the entire thread (yes, starting in 2005!) for catching up how Knoebel's became what it is. That was a fascinating journey, for me in special because we started getting real enthusiasts just three years ago and didn't know many things that happened in the amusement park business before and in the US in special. We went to Knoebel's in July 2017 as it was on our road trip from Niagara Falls to New York City. As it was a spontaneous stop, we only had three to four hours. It was a busy Sunday, so we just were able to doe the Phoenix, Flying Turns, Twister, Downdraft, Skyride and the Whipper. I have to admit that we weren't prepared properly. If we had read this thread before, we would have known that the Scooters, the carousel and the Flyers are an absolute must-do. And (sorry, Bill) we ate at the Alamo and didn't eat the Pierogis.. Might be a shame. I was surprised to read that Over The Top is no more, because it wasn't even open to the public when we were there. And I was sad that Downdraft is being replaced, I really loved it. So what can I say? I'm so sad that I cannot foresee when we will be able to return to this fantastic park, to which we fell in love after minutes being there. It was such a blast. We really need to come back for a whole day or more. If we would have Knoebel's over here, we would visit it every other week. So please keep posting pictures, trip reports and news so we don't miss anything to add to our list for 202X!
  13. ^, ^^, ^^^ The times listed for Europa Park can bee seen as "minimum opening times". Usually they are open longer, up until 9 pm, depending on the crowds, weather, ... Around noon you will see sings at every ride listing the right time schedule for that day, saying "today open until XX pm". Usually, if you are in line before that, you may ride even later. In Phantasialand, the times are pretty strict, especially on weekdays. That's because of the residents around. For Heide Park, I can't say.
  14. Rasender Tausendfüßler, Tabalugas Achterbahn, and Ba-a-a-Express don't meet our "minimum size" guideline to be included on the poll. Eurosat was under renovation and didn't reopen until very late in 2018, it will be present on the 2019 poll. Arthur and Alpenexpress are powered coasters and therefore they don't qualify. Oooh.. I'm sorry. I'm the idiot here. Sorry, it was my first time doing the poll. I also found Tripsdrill, it's listed under "Erlebnispark Tripsdrill", which is nothing but right. Thanks for your explanations. I make sure to read better next time.
  15. I just did the poll. I am missing some coasters, mostly in Germany (Tripsdrill, the new kiddie in Holiday Park, some coasters in Europa Park, ...). Is this planned?
  16. Woohoo, nice find! I love these looks into the past. Thanks for sharing!
  17. You're not being serious, are you? Haven't you watched world wide news on Feb 30th???
  18. According to this Video: they are changing track parts of Pegasus coaster.
  19. When was the 500ft wooden Aquatrax Poler Coaster dismissed? I thought that was save as the next coaster?
  20. As Parkerlebnis (a german amusement park website) wrote here yesterday: https://www.parkerlebnis.de/heide-park-huracan-abriss-geschlossen-2019_75092.html?onpage_ref=home_topnews_pos1 Heide Park will close "Huracan" before the season, bringing the "Maya-Tal" down to three rides (Breakdance, Magic and the Wave Swinger) and one food station. The closure happens because of the increasing maintenance costs and the rare spare parts. Long term plans for the "Maya Tal" are not determined yet, as a park's press release is quoted.
  21. Hey TPR folks! We're planning our summer 2019 tour and are considering Hansa Park as our new park for this year. Has anyone been to Hansa Park with a one year old? He did everything he was allowed on in Tripsdrill and therefore, if we do it, we want to go on two days making sure we'll have enough time to do everything without having to rush. Do they offer baby switch or a similar system? And how does it work? Any suggestions for a nice private bed and breakfast over there? Tanks for your replies!
  22. After reading the thread and trying to get some serious information on german web site I'm a bit confused.. At first they told us to give detailed information about the working progress, but the last two entries in their blog from October were a teaser for the "new" Colossos and a tv documentary. The last "real" update is from half a year ago the "fabrication of the new ledgers". Sice then, there's no real news. My confusion is about their enthusiasm in the beginning with the plan to share every detail of the renovation - and now they are quiet as a mouse about the project with only three to four real blog entries in 14 months.
  23. On a second look to the picture I'd like to know what Intamin presented on that IAAPA. It may be Wilderness Run. ________________________________________________________________ They were replaced with the sculpted logo they have today before the ride opened due to the park expecting a lot of media coverage. Basically they wanted the rides name and logo in the pictures. The ride did open with the leather seats complete with buttons you see in the photo, but it was replaced pretty quickly in I believe the first season. Oh, too bad.. I'd like to see the headlights in the night (although I loved the night rides in the pitch black). Wow, didn't know that. As I am a big fan of roller coaster nostalgia I'd really love to see a today's colored picture.
  24. Nice find. I wonder what happened to the head lights.
  25. It is the same. https://www.cedarpoint.com/blog/2018-early-entry-rides Does Raptor ever open a little early? I'm pretty sure I rode Maverick, Millennium Force, Valravn, and Raptor in that order during early entry on my first day last year. I can't imagine it took me an hour to ride Maverick, MF, and Valravn once each, which were all walk-on or less than 5 minute wait. The second day I just lapped Maverick over and over during ERT, as it is the best coaster in the park. IIRC Raptor is the #1 ride to replace another ride for Early Entry if the other is under maintenance or otherwise unavailable.
