  1. How is it that I've never noticed that before? Now that you mention it it does make more sense.
  2. first you're robbed, then you're raped. perhaps the designers at Togo were just trying to recreate an authentic experience of visiting NYC in the '70s. mission accomplished. And if you're very very lucky they'll do it in that order
  3. I can't help but keep thinking that the Raptor concept is just a bad idea. 8 seats per train. Who would want such a low capacity ride? Then I think what about eurofighters. They have 8 seats per train and don't seem to have an issue with capacity.
  4. My first amusement ride was in the mid-80's and they had checkers. I worked a few summers at Wild Waves and can tell you there are multiple reasons not to leave it to the GP. It's not because they are stupid but rather ignorant and why wouldn't they be? There a lot of little we check for. Sound of the clicks. The way it feels when we tug on it. Things you can never expect the GP to know.
  5. Knott's does not need another low capacity ride. Raptor has 8 person trains.
  6. Utlities are always the most time consuming part of constructing wood frame buildings. That's why you sometimes drive through the unbuilt parts of new subfivisions and see pipes and cables sticking out of the dirt with no visible foundations yet poured. When they are ready to build they can have the house itself up fairly quickly.
  7. Splash Mtn, Indy Jones - DLP Batman, Goliath, Riddler, Viper, Ninja - SFMM Aftershock, Tremors, Timber Terror - SW Timberhawk - WW Califirnia Screamin, Tower of Tower, Maliboomer - DCA GhostRider, Supreme Scream, Xcelerator, Silver Bullet - KBF Manta - SWSD Gold Striker - CGA
  8. What about desperado? Is that ride even still around? According to RCDB it is. It's been in continuous operation since 1994. It is fairly off the beaten path, but it's a western US hypercoaster none-the-less. I've never ridden it, but the general consensus seems to be that for all of its height and speed, it's a rather dull ride, particularly the meandering last 2/3 of the ride. Okay so there are two western hypers and I've only riden one. I guess I'll have to worm it in somehow. I live in Washington and I just don't get out that way. In fact I've only been to Vegas once as it is.
  9. BOOOIIIIII. You better check them sources before claiming stuff, lol. I should have clarified. B&M doesn't use the term in regards to height. In fact B&M supports my view as they actually classify hyper coaster as a type that they build.
  10. Yes. The entire back stage area lies smack in the middle between Ghost Town and the south parking lot and hotel property. Most of the offices are located in many small older buildings. If they were able to relocate most of those to a single new admin building they could open up a lot of new land, almost doubling the size of the park.
  11. Roller Coaster - Lagoon Timberhawk - WW Tremors- SW Timber Terror - SW Classic Coaster - WSF Twister 1 - EG Twister 2 - EG Psyclone - SFMM Colossous - SFMM Apocolypse - SFMM GhostRider - KBF Giant Dipper - SCB New Mexico Rattler - Cliff's Grizzly - CGA Roar - SFDK
  12. What about desperado? Is that ride even still around? I never got around to riding it actually. It was in the middle of nowhere and never on my way to to somewhere else. Ummmm... Hyper coaster is a height classification just like giga and strata. . . You know, hyper, giga, strata... 200-299ft = Hyper 300-399ft = Giga 400-499ft = Strata This is an age old debate but it shouldn't be. Technically you are correct. All of the first 200+ foot coasters were a certain type of non-looping airtime speed coasters built by Arrow/Morgan. They were dubbed "hyper" for being 200 plus feet. Then the ride gods started making 200+ foot looping coasters but most no one ever called them hyper coasters. Even Intamin and B&M don't use the term. I don't know anyone, except Arrow people, who called Steel Phantom a "hyper". It wasn't until the first coasters broke 300 feet anyone made a distinction that I'm aware of. I'm sorry but Xcelerator (my favorite coaster) and Valravn, for example, are not a "hyper" coasters in my opinion. As for Fury 325 and Intimidator 305, I consider them to be giga hyper coasters.
  13. That area is kind of it's own little enclave with the boysenberry patch and the mission diaramas. I'm sure they could think of something.
  14. Dive, Wild Mouse, Spinning, Accelerator, Wing, Moto, Hyper, etc are types of coasters. Mega, Giga and Strata are heights. As there is only one hyper in the western US, my vote has to go to Goliath at SFMM.
  15. Worst coaster that no longer exists: Wind Jammer Surf Racers, KBF Worst coaster still running: Manhatten Express, NYNY
  16. I think they will just place some footings in there and have the ride pass over Scrambler and Gliders.
  17. I disagree. Bullet's station is seperated from the rest of GT by the stagecoach route. It is completely cut off from without using one of several underpasses.
  18. Speaking of Silver Bullet, I read an interesting comment on Knotts Network the other day saying that SB should be repainted and rethemed. It's not really part of Ghost Town but more part of Fiesta Village. What does anyone else think about that?
  19. I predict that when RR reopens it will have new sit down trains ala Hulk. SFMM can't do a floorless conversion because they already have a floorless coaster but no one wants to ride standups anymore.
  20. If they could have then why didn't they for Windseeker?
  21. On the far left side of that one photo we can see steel girders on integrated into the new Boardwalk BBQ. Any chance it has anything to do with whatever replaces Boom?
  22. No GPS on the planet is exact eniugh. The most accurate military grade ones are still off by millimeters and trust me, the state of California would be a stickler for that.
