A Pleasure Chest reference = 1000 points. And while a ride like this would look cool at Knoebel's, there is no way they would ever afford it. But I think a park like Holiday World could get something like this. Actually, they should have gone this route instead of getting another wood coaster. Imagine a ride like this running through the woods there. Mmmmmm... dt

Went to Knoebels for the first time this year today. Let's do a report Q/A style: Is Phoenix still one of the best wooden coasters on the planet? Yes Is Twister still an OK ride? Yes Is that nightmare Whilwind gone? Yes Is the ride that is to replace it not going to open this year? Yeah, probably Is the pizza still the best park pizza anywhere? Yes Is Knoebels a great place to spot all varieties of the central PA mutant? Yes Is Knoebels still one of the best parks ever? Yes Knoebels still kicks ass. Those that have never been there really need to make the trip some time... dt

Photo TR: Wisconsin State Fair
Meteornotes replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
OK, sure, maybe your fair had Mr. Roboto played 30 times with a laser show, but did it have the whole album stage show using the cast of Blossom? Cause if not, your fair was pretty lame... dt -

^I don't know, that Pax looping coaster was a big pile of awesomeness! And we got to walk past bumper cars playing "Mr. Roboto" which I don't recall Wes saying anything about at his silly fair, so take that, fairgoer! dt -
Depends on the PC. On this one 1024x780. One of the others is 1280x1024. I'll have to check the laptop... dt

Mt. Olympus Hades Video!
Meteornotes replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Between Avalance and Hades, you have probably the best one-two punch of coasters in the US. Yeah, OK, they're not in the same park, but they're right down the road from each other, and it's pretty easy to travel back and forth between the two parks and ride both. These are two of the best wood coasters I have ever been on. Balder is still my favorite, but these are both Top 10 rides. Like Robb, I cannot decide which one is better, as they both kick ass and both deliver totally insane rides. Hades really needs two trains, though. It never had less than an hour wait the whole time we were there... -

'No-fly list' keeps infants off planes
Meteornotes replied to AllisonY2K's topic in Random, Random, Random
After being on four Screaming Baby Express flights in the last week, I'm all for keeping babies off planes. Or at least stored in the overhead bin... dt -
That was my first-ever visit to a White Castle. I had tried (and not liked) the frozen supermarket verions before, and having tried one at the store, nah, still don't like them. On the other hand, the fish bits and fries KICK ASS so it's cool to eat there. Oh, and I was indeed frightened by that 100 burger box... Dave "actually figured out how to work my digital camera to take that photo of Robb & Joey" Thomas

Funny Error Messages, Stupid Labels
Meteornotes replied to timetrial3141592's topic in Random, Random, Random
^A company in the US did this on a bag of peanuts. I found it hilarious, and saved the bag for a long time. I suppose if the label said "may contain space monkey bits" it might be more useful... dt -
What can you see from your bedroom window?

Cave like settings rule. I think living in a cave would actually be cool, except for the lack of high speed internet access and HDTV... Dave "likes it dark" Thomas -

Expedition GeForce Megacoaster vs SROS (sfne)
Meteornotes replied to toniokatun's topic in Ask Alvey
Expedition Ge Force destroys the Superman coaster at SFNE. Not that S:ROS is bad or anything, but EGF is so much better in every category. Plus, EGF is not at a Six Flags park, making it even better. My opinion only, of course... dt -

Yes, that drive defined the word "suck". Gregg/Kristi, as someone that lives in Baltimore, let me warn you that traffic here, especially around DC, is very bad. DC traffic on weekdays is just as bad as LA traffic, so plan accordingly. If you're going to DC, also be careful about where you get a hotel, as some areas of DC are, um, not good... If you need hotel advice and stuff for the area, let me know. dt
